My wife and I enjoyed the hike up to Scout Landing Overlook, but we opted to continue along the West Rim trail and scramble up a summit rather than do the final 0.5 miles along the very narrow ridge to Angel's Landing (which we started but turned around after the first few chains). The view from the West Rim summit that we climbed was good, but not a good as that of Angel's Landing. The hike up was great, but Observation Point has a much better view for similar effort if you don't do the final 0.5 miles of Angel's Landing. Prior to Zion, we've only hiked on the East coast, and we have never seen a more dangerous section of trail than the last part of Angel's Landing - wouldn't recommend anyone do the last part, especially not kids.

Very short hike with a great view relative to the effort of the hike. Limited parking and was fairly busy in middle of the day.

Favorite hike in Zion! Very strenuous, but worth it for the view at the end.

First mile was the toughest for me. The scenery is so BEAUTIFUL, it is worth the work getting up there and taking it all in. Wasn't too busy for this time of year. Took us about 4 hours all together (including lots of mini breaks and spending about 10-15 min at the top). AllTrails says its 7.1 round trip but I have read elsewhere that it's 8 miles round trip.

Hold on to the chain!

Awesome short hike in Zion. View of Zion Canyon was nice. Took less than 30 minutes to reach the overlook. Not ADA accessible though. Limited parking. There are overflow parking down the road. You can also park alongside the Hwy that permits.

Be warned! This trail is EXTREMELY busy. If the weather is good expect LOTS of hikers. Even backed up traffic on parts of the trail, especially the last .5 mile. If you're not fond of heavily trafficked trails then I suggest you go really early to beat the crowd. Otherwise dont be a jerk trying to rush people on narrow parts of the trail. Everyone hikes at a different skill level and I hate seeing punks bullying others to hurry up. It's better to be safe and go slow then pushing your way through narrow parts of the trail.

Anyways! I hiked Angel's Landing 12/15/18. Weather was perfect. No snow, no ice on the trail. The trail was nicely maintained and paved almost all the way which made it that much easier to hike. Not gonna lie, the view was nice but not the greatest. That's just my opinion. Although definitely worth seeing once in a lifetime. If you're in Zion, spare 4-5 hours for Angel's Landing. Happy Hiking and be safe.

on The Subway Trail

Did this fun hike yesterday. I started at 6:30a with a headlight and finished around 2:30p, stopping often to set up camera on tripod for photos. I never saw another person. I wore neoprene socks over wools socks and feet were toasty. Neoprene pants kept me warm, with just polypropylene longsleeve and soft shell vest. Water knee-deep but there are very few spots that necessitated actually getting into water. I didn’t explore too far into the actual Subway slot as I was solo and the rocks were pretty darn slippery there and water was deeper. Going back again next week with a friend and will probably explore deeper into canyon. The 1/4 mile climb back up at the end is challenging but it’s fun to divert attention by looking for Moqui marbles! There are thousands of them. I will definitely go earlier in season next year to get the autumn colors in my pictures.

Spectacular and well worth it. the last pitch is chained but extremely busy at times with people trying to pass one another with only a few feet between the chains and the cliff.

Hiked it on 12/12. Great weather, snow and ice all along the trail out to Observation Point. Climbed Observation Point from the floor back in September and wanted to try this route. Glad we rented a Jeep and definitely needed a 4x4 to get to the trail head. Maybe saw three people total at Observation Pt. Great weather and amazing views as always.

Hiked it yesterday 12/13. Absolutely awesome hike. Took my Dad and he enjoyed it as well. We started around 8am and were on the top by 9:30 or so. We enjoyed 45mins all to ourselves up there before we saw anyone. Perfect weather as well. Stoked to finally knock this one out since it was closed when I was here in September.

A series of switchbacks will guide you up to stunning panoramic views of the area! Expect to see many mule deer too.

Great hike and nice view. Generally a constant incline but changing trail scenery/conditions. Lots of places to sunbathe, picnic, etc at the point. Didn’t get on the trail until 1245 because of car problems but actually made it up and back in under 4 hours because I didn’t take a break until the top bc of 530 sunset and allegedly 6 hrs round trip. Glad I didn’t push it to the next day and let vehicle issues waste my whole day.

3 bc this is just for the river walk, but 5 for the narrows. Bottom-Up isn’t an option to review on this app. A previous trip I did the river walk bc my friend wasn’t a big hiker plus the conditions borderline that time of year. The paved HC accessible route just not for me and wasn’t at all a good impression of what Zion has to offer. The longer harder hikes are a game changer for those capable and willing to work a little. Anyways this was one of 7 back to backI hikes I did in a 6 day period between Bryce and Zion. I rented gear and at this time of year there’s not a crowd in the river (and Subway permit odds extremely high if you do a two day gear rental). A few times you have no option but to be waist deep so the full drysuit was reassuring even though many times I was too warm. Walking stick very helpful to test depth and determine direction of walking or at times when the extra sturdiness helpful bc of the current.

Fun playful trail and scenic destination. If I wasn’t hiking solo I would have tried going a little further into the slots once it became shoulder depth pools. Most of the river was at most knee depth but most of the time not actually walking in it but switching from one side thru to the other. Being the second week of December only 4-5 permits were requested which made you feel like the trail was all yours. Rented neoprene socks and dry suit for 2 days since I did Narrows the next day and rental is 50% second day. Didn’t need the top til the Narrows so I just tied the sleeves around my waist so I wouldn’t have to bother exchanging pants for suit for day 2

Paved path with lots of areas to walk down to the river. We went Dec 12th and it wasn't too crowded. Great way to see the beginning of the narrows and looking up all you see is canyon walls. There was also dirt paths by the river you could walk but you do have to come up to the paved path at some points. We also saw the dipper bird! Very beautiful and peaceful hike, easy and wheelchair assable.

We went Dec 12th, there wasn't a lot of people but middle and upper pool is closed. We saw two waterfalls and it was very muddy/slippery at the pools. We also saw deer and turkeys while on our way in! Definitely a great hike.

This area has smaller parking than other trail heads. Short and steep but overall it took us around 30min in and out. We went Dec 13th and the trail was wet, not many people.

Not an experienced hiker and this trail was a perfect challenge. Took us around an hour and 50mins to complete. We went Dec 12th and there was a little mud in higher elevation, a little slippery. Loop is shorter than we thought, you can skip this and still see watchman point overlook.

One of the hardest but great scenery on the top of mountain.

Absolutely breath taking!

Great hike. Strenuous, but worth the effort. Did it in early December and temps were perfect. A little muddy/snowy at the top, but nothing a good pair of hiking boots can’t handle. Went through about 1.5L of water, completed in about 4hr 20min (stopped at the top for 20-30 min).

Great easy hike. We ended up making it in 1 hour and 40 Mins out and back. Definitely recommend for a quick beautiful walk by the river

This trail is a moderate to gradual climb up many levels of large outcropping rocks . After a rainy day the water is beautiful but it will be a bit muddy...

Perfect hike for after you've done Angel's Landing in the morning. Easy out and back trail with beautiful up canyon views. Do yourself a favor and take the dry creek bed "shortcut" on your way back to the Visitor's Center.

This hike was everything everybody said it would be, and more. Perfect weather and trail conditions.
