very nice trail. lots of parking at the historic bridge, but no restrooms. the blue trail is extremely well marked. be sure to take the red/blue spur trail to the waterfall. did the entire north and south loop in 4 hours, with a half hour lunch at the pond. north loop is slightly up hill, but not excessive. of the south loop on the way back descends nicely.

Just beautiful.

There are some falls that this route is leaving out. Watch out for a sign for them when you see the creek. It’s only .2mi out of the way.

It’s not a very hard hike at all. I cut out some of the loops and the extra long routes and it took maybe 2.5 hours.

I hiked to Day Pond and back, did not complete the loop. was a decent workup on the way to the pond, and an easy trek back. didn't see any waterfalls on that trail. Very busy this time of year!

Nice and easy day hike

very nice. definitely has some steep steady inclines. great work out!

My friend and I hiked it with the snow on the ground which while adding to the difficulty it was very fun. It was not very difficult, just hilly. We got some beautiful shots to!

All around enjoyable and I would love to do this again early summer one day!

There’s literally no markers I thought I was going to die in the woods

I love how it connected to the Day Pond Trail!

Excellent trail, very well maintained. I would say it’s on the low end of moderate difficulty. Definitely longer than 5.4 miles, think it was closer to 7.5 miles.

Nice hike, some rocky areas. Well marked and cleared trail with beautiful waterfall.

Beautiful place to take a long hike

This was a good hike. Lots of up hills. It was just over 7 miles, so I don't know where the 5.4 mile statement came from. A little off the regular path there is a beautiful cascading waterfall. It is small, but still very pretty. The trail is clearly marked and is easy to follow. Will be pretty in a few weeks with the changing of the leaves.

We hiked through the blue trail. It's a nice hike through the woods, hilly, rocky terrain at times. Lots of stone walls, several foundations maybe, and even an old, old car along the way! Wonderful walk in the woods!

Well marked trail. Short inclines. I did the loop, parking at Salmon River State Forest (next to day pond state park). Nice trail. Next time I'll find the covered bridge to complete the whole trail. Overall, I did 3 miles of it (the loop).

I started at the Comstock covered bridge and hiked to the Day Pond Loop. I completed the south loop and then the north loop, stopping for a water break at the Day Pond State Park between the two. Very beautiful spot and midway point. I also took a short trail off of the north loop which led to the Day Pond Falls, a very beautiful waterfall worth the half mile hike down and back to the loop trail. It is important to rate the entire seven mile hike as hard. Completing sections can be considered moderate depending on length. The hike took my dog and I three hours with almost no stopping. The majority of the trail is tree covered and you are only in direct sun when crossing the power lines briefly on the north loop. Well marked with blue blaze. The beginning of the trail by the Comstock covered bridge goes along the Salmon Ride before climbing up to a view of the river and then turning away from the river to head towards Day Pond. Plenty of parking at both the Comstock bridge and Day Pond state park. The Comstock bridge has beautiful wooden gates that make for a lovely photo silhouette. Overall an awesome workout!

Nicely marked trail with all sorts of things to explore. The side spur to the falls is a must do. Beautiful falls even with our current dry spell.

Nice hike with nice views of the Salmon River at the beginning. Good for trail running.

very nice trail, clearly marked. Our app clocked us at 7.2 miles by the time we finished rather than the 5 we were expecting.

We loved this trail. Added some of the North loop of salmon river trail in day pond state park, and the spur to day pond falls. Very well marked for a state trail. We ended up with just over 6 miles

As mentioned in Emily Proctors review, the trail begins at the Comstock Covered Bridge. It's a nice walk along the Salmon River and then heads uphill into the wooded area. It is a pretty good cardio workout to the crest of the hill. This scenic trail brings you through woodlands, across babbling brooks, to the Day Pond Brook Falls and then onto Day Pond. There, you can have lunch as there are picnic tables and a sandy beach for swimming before finishing the hike. This hiker friendly trail is well marked. But just in case you get turned around, there are signs scattered throughout the trail that show your exact position. I look forward to doing this hike again in the warmer weather.
