Total mileage is 4.8 according to my recording. The trail was packed down enough for spikes. There are a few viewpoints which makes the trek more enjoyable and the peak has a decent spot to sit and eat lunch in the sun with a 180 degree view. I have done this in the summer and winter and it is a great hike in all seasons.
Fantastic day with spectacular conditions: cloudless sky, no wind, well packed trail, and not too cold. We did the UNH Trail loop counterclockwise as previous hikers recommended. Such jaw-dropping views. We didn’t want this one to end. Done in about 3.25 hours with a lunch break at the summit and some short rests along the way up and down. Micro spikes the whole time. Such a fun winter hike!!! I think this is one of our favorites now.
Trail was in near perfect condition! Packed snow, no ice, just micro spikes used. Most of the trail is runnable ( especially the first mile ). No real steep sections. My puppy did this trail with ease for another 52 WAV MT.
Spikes useful today. Packed snow trail
Packed snow worthy of spikes.
Great hike with great views.
Absolutely perfect day for hiking. Sunny day, colder but not too bad. Snow was well packed. We chose to go up less steep side. Beautiful views including a stunning view of mountain Washington. We chose more steep side to descent. There were section you can slide down. So much fun. Makes you feel like a kid.
Trail is well-packed, but some spots are turning slushy. Bluebird day. Lots of folks out. Mead lot was full at 9:15, had to park down by the snowmobilers, added an extra mile or so total. side trip to Beede Falls was worth the extra walk. Very cool.
Beautiful day fr a hike! Really nice hike. Not too challenging and the view at the summit is breathtaking!
I love this hike. The weather was perfect so I took my time to enjoy the views.
Awesome hike!
Great conditions and clear view at the top. There were not any significantly steep sections, but still needed spikes. Short hike for an incredible view!
Hard packed snow. Great conditions for traction.
Beautiful hike today! The beginning starts gradually and then it picks up, the last mile or so is not as steep. The last .5 miles brings you through a few false summits at a gentler incline. Amazing views at each false summit! The summit was by far the best view though. Recommend micro spikes and maybe poles, you might be fine without them going up, but you’ll want them going down! No snow shoes needed!
