Great trail but that Poles section was tough! Bring lots of water, there is no shade on this trail!

Lots of mountain bikers, pretty views of the canyon and the ocean. Not a bad little trail.

Great hike. First 2.5 miles is along a dirt road with little to no shade. Not overwhelmingly exciting. When you get to around 3 miles in, the fun starts. Its hiking through thickish bush and concluding with a bit of light climbing uphill. In August the waterfall is more of a rockface, but it's a cool little area to relax nonetheless. I'd definitely do this one again

it was a fun hike but there were a lot of yellow jackets

To get to this trail hard you have to walk 2.5 miles down a fire road. It is flat and easy. Once hitting the trail head it is a 1 mike hike up to the falls. Mostly light bouldering. This is where it earns its rating.

great hike, shaded most of the time, beginning isn't as shaded. wear good hiking shoes lots of rocks. It definitely is a better hike when water is running but still a good workout.

Hiked to the Old Indian Village. A fun hike!

Hard, but worth it.

Why the gates open at 8am is a problem....it was so hot today! But overall a fabulous climb. Yes the first portion is very steep but great views....highly recommend! A great way to spend our 28th wedding anniversary ...

Once you get into the creek, the hike is more challenging and much more interesting. The climb back into the falls is the toughest and most satisfying part! This hike isn't the easiest, so make sure you're ready for it, and take lots of water with you.

Overall I enjoyed this trail and would do it again. I did this trail in the summer so there was no waterfall at the end but the place where it would be is still pretty cool. The trail is easy for most of the path and gets moderate towards the end. You follow along a paved/dirt road for probably 2 miles and then you find the trail head. From there you follow along a riverbed for about a mile and a half. The last 1/2 mile of trail is alot of bouldering with quite a bit of incline.

Bring lots of water, I brought 2 liters and ran out about a mile from the parking area.

Very pretty on a clear day! The last part is the toughest. $3 to park and they had security on a Sunday checking the parking lot.
I added Red Rock-only a mile more total to the hike and very worth it.

Amazing hike! The car wreck was very cool to see! It gets warm...go early! There is not much shade. It's $3 to park in the lot, but there is some street parking nearby. Definitely will do this hike again!

Love this trail but gotta go after a heavy rain to see the waterfall in all its glory...and it’s a long hike take plenty of water and good comfortable shoes a lot of climbing over rocks

Awesome hike if you don't mind climbing over and under rocks and fallen trees. I was really beautiful . You should go early in the morning because it gets really hot. The end was where the water fall is supposed to be. It was a very nice adventure and I do recommend.

So far the best hike ever! Hiked the ELEVATOR! It was a beast so make sure your on beast mode when you take it!!! We even seen a huge deer! I highly recommend this hike if you want a challenge. We did 9.1 miles in 3.22 hours. Via No Name Ridge to Moro Ridge to Elevator.

Long way on a paved road to the BOULDERS. Never seen such big ones! Fun climbing, jumping, slipping on our bottoms.
Missed the top, ran out of time. Will be back!

No waterfall in the summer when we went and the barren waterfall smelled like sulphur.

However, I will say that the bouldering was really fun and made up for the non-existent waterfall.

Trash on the trail, graffiti on the rocks, and 2+ miles of fire road before you get to the real trail.

Fabulous hike!! Last 3/4 of a mile is on Portola Parkway though...kind of a bummer to end such a gorgeous hike.

Wow. Elevation like rocket from the get go. Awesome post

Loved the first 25 - 30 mins of Big Ben (if you love to jog mountains- this is for you). It’s a straight up hike to the top. Great views and moderate connecting trails that take you too emerald bay... no shade so be careful when you decide to take this hike. Have a blast and LVFT!

Long paved road leading to the real trailhead. I would call it moderate because of the length and the boulders to navigate. Otherwise it’s a relatively easy hike. No major inclines, no switch backs. We recorded 6 miles in and out.

It's okay. Much better than accessing near Top of the World which is waaaay to busy for my liking. But this trail map leads you to a gated community so we actually had to go about 2 miles down the road to a park and access the trail head from there.

It was a pretty easy trail. There is some good elevation on the last leg of the loop along West Ridge Trail.

Tip: for directions use Canyon Vistas Park in Aliso Viejo; not a lot of shade so start early or make sure you pack sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen. Watch out for mountain bikers cuz they ain't watching for you!

The trail here is beautiful! Parking is $3.00, so no complaints there. I took the Big Bend Loop hike, and let me tell ya... I though my fat ass was going to pass out going up that incline... But I made it! I say the first 45 minutes of the hike is the toughest since you are just going uphill, but get past that and it's a breathtaking view and a great hike. I would say it takes about 3 to 4 hours to go around. I have tiny little legs so more on the 4 hour side for me. Make sure you take lots of water and pack on that sunscreen as there isn't a lot of shade. Also, the potties are kept pretty clean, and they even have seat protectors.

We did the 5.9 mi loop with kids (youngest was 9). Billy goat was best trail. I’d go up and back the same way. I didn’t like the last section walking on the street. Go up and back from Ralph’s.
