Calling this a loop is a little deceiving. You have to connect the trails together by walking along a busy road with not a great shoulder. A portion of the trail in the beginning is also quite overgrown with kudzu.

Miles of trail options in woods and along the shores of Lake Norman. Trails are covered with bare roots, leaves and Carolina red clay this making them slippery in wet weather. Nice spots to eat on trails or nearby Troutman has Randy's BBQ or Pomodoro's Italian/Pizza for lunch.

Sometimes hard to find parking at the trail head. The lot is very tiny. I like this trail because you can loop rather than going out and back.

Great hike for exercise. I would wait for lake season to end to do it again. Did not like hiking through occupied campsites on lake. You hear lots of noise from cars, boats and jetskis.

This is a very nice loop around the lake. The trail is wide and nice lake views.

good trail...I usually hit this twice a year when I do the Greensboro trails tour...a but "rooty" in some areas but all in all good "flowy" trail...got some good pump sections that you can really get ripping on...

This lakeside trail is beautiful in every season. It is long enough to use for long distance training and wide enough to accommodate it's popularity with 2 separate bathrooms located about halfway around the lake on either side. With all its amenities, it still feels very natural and remote throughout most of the trail. We always see lots of bird varieties, the occasional snake or deer and many turtles sunning themselves on logs. This is a favorite trail that we try to take in at least once per season. It is mainly flat with a few small inclines.

I do the short 2.5 mi loop as a trail run with my dog. In the summer it is mostly shaded. Lots of roots so be careful, but it makes for a fun and challenging trail run. In the fall, winter, and spring the hilly portions of the trail may be slippery if it is wet or leaves on the trail. There are a few beach stop offs as the trail follows the lake. It's a beautiful hike and I've seen ospreys, woodpeckers, turtles, snakes, and deer many times on this trail.

Beautiful, peaceful area!!

great trail. Salem Creek Greenway is a nice way to get there from Marketplace Mall

My wife and I love this trail. I, however, wouldn't call it easy. It has more hills to climb than any of the other trails in thr area and they can get quite steep. Also the kudzu and thistle is beginning to take over one section of the trail so be prepared for that. The thistle will bitr and the kudzu tend to cause a lot of itching.

Very clean and well maintained trail. I normally do the entire trail barefoot.
Beautiful scenery and plenty of cute little sandy beaches to stop and hangout or get in the water at.
Also well marked trails and trail intersections. Actual signs with arrows.
Both my dogs big and small love this trail as do I.

My new favorite trail. Has everything - lake view, deep shade for hot days, berms, pump parts, all single track, technical challenges but not impossible, well groomed. Ride up on green way to Wild Turkey trail for more miles of single track. Awesome for Mtn biking!

I did the 2.5 mile loop (short loop) of this trail. The lake is pretty, and it wasn’t crowded. Water was nice to cool off in!

This trail was really pretty and didn’t feel like you were in the middle of high point. It was very confusing though and we got lost multiple times and eventually left the trail and walked through the surrounding neighborhood.

It's a nice trail with good views of the lake. It is very easy to follow with the exception of the area near the boat ramp (you have to cross a large parking lot to pick the trail back up). The major drawback to this trail was the trash. There are campsites along the lake and many had been trashed over the weekend. There were beer cans everywhere and one group appeared to have put a whole camping chair in the fire and left it. Personally I think things like that take away from the experience, but overall it was still a decent hike.

Great path for biking, not busy at all, would definitely go back.

Great trail for biking and plenty of shaded areas. We even get to stop by an ice cream shop ‘Ozzie Ice Cream shop’ right off the trail.

Really nice hike - well marked except at the Cove Boat Ramp. We exited the woods and wandered around trying to find the rest of the trail. We eventually did though - took about 2 1/2 hours. Pretty and very few people on it. Unfortunately there is some litter near the trailheads which spoiled the hike a little for me.

This trail was tough for me! I'm a beginner so this was definitely a challenge. I enjoyed the trail immensely and would do it again. I did NOT enjoy the snakes though!

Great 5 mike loop with lake views. Wish we had brought a bathing suit and a picnic lunch! It was a last minute decision for us to hike here and it would have been great to stop on the shore of the lake to eat lunch and swim!
