everyday you can smell the waste treatment plant adjacent to the trail. fun on a bike if you like the taste of shit in your mouth. not much nature, and not very peaceful. I'd rather be somewhere else.

This one is close to home for me and part of the reason I chose it was this site says it’s a “...2.2 mile loop trail.”
Apparently I did not find the markings for said trail because I was 3.5 miles in and struggling to find my way back to the parking lot.
This trail system IS NOT marked well at all, and very confusing for novice hikers.
If I go back, I will bring my own marking device and turn around when I’m ready to go back.
Disappointed in the lack of trail markings.

A nice local trail with a variety of terrain and pleasant views of one of the lakes on the Greensboro watershed.

The Trail was very well marked with white blazes for the longer loop. The shorter trail some people mention in their reviews was blazed in red. Markers with distance placed every half mile to help track time and distance. I had 2 dogs in tow and we finished the 5 mile loop in just about 2 hours. The Trail is well traveled and even though I was out early, we passed several groups (more than 5, less than 10). The Trail offered great views of the lake with several stops along the water for the dogs to drink. I would certainly rate this as moderate because there is a lot of undulation. Overall a great hike that I’ll do again.

Great view of the lake for almost the whole trail. Tends to be crowded though. Go early and/or during cooler months.

easy walk with large path for bikes too

Definitely a workout. I found it pretty hard on the knees, optimal for biking I'm sure. Lots of wildlife. Quite the beautiful hike with many different types of terrain. Whoever has been responsible for clearing the Tropical Storm Michael damage from the trail, my hat goes off to you. There were so many trees down, but I never had to cross an obstacle on the trail. Job well done!! Looking forward to my next visit!

This was a fantastic trail! We did the 5
Mike loop. It was wooded the whole time with beautiful views of the lake. We saw deer multiple times during our hike. This is close to home, so I plan to come back often!

The changes in elevation on the Laurel Bluff side of the trail are a bit larger than many trails in the area, which is nice. The city finally cut back the kudzu that was overgrowing the trail, just a week before hurricane Michael knocked quite a few large trees across the trail. Would be nice if other hikers abided by the city's leash ordinances.

great trail. nice scenery.

Lots of lost trail markers. Easy to get lost and confused. At one point there is no way to cross the creek. Lastly, too many people take their dogs off leash!!

Nice loop with about 2/3 of the distance along Badin Lake. Some up-and-down but mostly flat. Passes several campgrounds and several established primitive lakeside campsites. Well marked with white paint blazes. Well-maintained considering it receives little traffic. Overall, probably the best dayhiking loop in Uwharrie National Forest.

Wonderful 5.1 mile hike! Yes, tree roots to navigate on 80% of the hike. Views of the lake much of the way... be aware that the last mile is a steep and challenging climb.

not a trail, just a flat paved side walk type great for walking and commuter bikes. nothing fun for mountain bikes. there a a few real trails off of it however.

Nice trail. Very crowded at times but everyone is mostly friendly. Most of the bikers are good and give u commands and of course some are rude and come very close because they dont want to hit their brakes. Its hard to fix stupidity! Not the trails fault and I will keep going back

Makes me sweat

Great exercise trail

Live right near it, pretty fun nice views, watch out for snakes though because I have stepped on one on more than one occasion!
Overall great time.

Great trail. The only issue is that there are a lot of trails in this area and it is very hard fo follow. In fact I was off of the main trail most of the time and used a GPS to make sure I was going in the right direction. Overall great trail.

This is a super easy trail, relatively flat and not too rooty, but still quite nice. it is rare to come across many people in the leg past the bridge. You are also along the banks of Lake Brandt almost the entire time so you have a nice cool breeze in sumer. Plenty of wildlife, herons and gulls in the lake, an occasional snake, and deer tend to hang out in the area a lot as well.

A pretty walk through the woods. The trail is well marked and not too crowded early in the morning.

Great trail along the lake.

Very nice and easy walking. Long but easy!!

wonderful trail in the shade!

Calling this a loop is a little deceiving. You have to connect the trails together by walking along a busy road with not a great shoulder. A portion of the trail in the beginning is also quite overgrown with kudzu.

Great hike!!

Miles of trail options in woods and along the shores of Lake Norman. Trails are covered with bare roots, leaves and Carolina red clay this making them slippery in wet weather. Nice spots to eat on trails or nearby Troutman has Randy's BBQ or Pomodoro's Italian/Pizza for lunch.

Sometimes hard to find parking at the trail head. The lot is very tiny. I like this trail because you can loop rather than going out and back.

Great hike for exercise. I would wait for lake season to end to do it again. Did not like hiking through occupied campsites on lake. You hear lots of noise from cars, boats and jetskis.
