Saturday 15th December 2018
We got to this trail at about 9am. We didn’t see anyone on the way up and quite a few people on the way back down! The trail we followed took us to the lake. The round trip took us about 3.5 hours.

We clocked this hike at just over 11km.

As the path is popular the trail is well walked so we didn't wear snowshoes. But spikes were needed on a few parts. We kept them on for the whole trek as the paths had enough snow on them.

The trail head starts on a road so use the toilets before the final turn. There is a toilet just before the lake too!

Awesome walk along the creek. We ended up walking the creek instead of the ridge but still worth it ..Beautiful views!! Spectacular frozen waterfalls.....love it ..will go back for the ridge in summer for sure

It was a gorgeous hike. We did it on December 8th 2018
Breathtaking views of creek and frozen waterfalls were everywhere. Saw few people doing ice climbing. Little tricky to cross creek few times.
Must do in summer.

Wide open vistas and well marked. Winter paradise for sure

Nice, easy trail with very gradual elevation gain. You are mostly in the forest until you reach the lake. Good for quick a winter hike. As of Dec 8/18, the trail is hard packed snow - no snowshoes or traction devices needed, though this might change over the next few days as the snow melts and refreezes.

Bring your bear spray. Proper hiking boots and attire make the hike nice. It could be done in regular runners. (I saw a lady hiking in flat shoes - she was not pleased with her shoe choice. The view at Rawson Lake was worth it from what she said!) Lot's of snow.

Completed on December 1. Easy hike with great views. Trail was packed so no need for snowshoes yet.

Completed December 4th. Spectacular views well worth the effort! Good Micro spikes are needed for the way down. Can’t wait to try it again in summer.

Completed Chester Lake two weeks ago and it was a wonderful trail! Beautiful scenery, good steep sections to warm you up, and very rewarding lake at the end to sit and relax, have some lunch, and watch some of the backcountry skiers.

Very well marked, great views, will do this one again come summer.

Trailhead was well marked with parking. Many different routes you can take (hike, snowshoe, ski...etc.)Took a few beginners up this trail, and didn't seem to have many issues. Views from the top were beautiful. Lots of Gray Jays and they are not shy, they will land on your hands if you let them!

Just finished this snowshoe trail and it was pretty good. first 1.5km will get you warmed up and your legs going. After that it is pretty much smooth sailing. The mountains surrounding the area are beautiful but since this is 'winter' the lake area is somewhat anticlimactic. Will enjoy coming back in the summer to do this one again.

The first section is straight uphill and can leave you a bit breathless. After that it evens out totally, and when you get to the lake, the view is absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend!

Went in the middle of October this year and it was pretty snowy and a little slick in some areas so I would definitely recommend crampons. My friend and I went during the week with my dog. We only saw 3 other people and we enjoyed the quiet, and the view. It took us about 3 hours total.

Beautiful panorama view. Love it

Lots of snow. We were the first ones on the trail in the woods after the snowfall a couple of days ago. We have found the trail head only due to the map in this app (if you come to the creek you have passed the trail head). Luckily,we met 2 backcountry skiers who were skiing down approximately half way up. We used their tracks to snowshoe up. That help a lot otherwise there were spots where we were waist deep in snow. Took us 3 hours overall (we got to the lake and did not walk around it). Definitely doable in a shorter time on a packed snow and marked trail. I would definitely do it again.

Tough climb but beautiful views of the peaks and valleys. We did this on Nov 17, trail was easy to follow - microspikes and poles a must.

I LOVED this hike today. It was stunning with all the snow, reminded me of a winter wonderland. Such a nice and easy hike. Highly recommended

Easy trail to a decent view point. If you go just a couple hundred meters up towards midnight peak the views are excellent.

beautiful hike! parked at the closed parking area and walked across the creek, theres a clearly marked trail. its pretty steep the first few kms as you get up to the ridge, a few areas of exposure but mostly in the trees. we went up novemeber 11th and there was snow but some areas were still free of snow, alot more snow on the ridge, spikes are a must!!

Super fun and relatively easy hike! The view at the top is amazing. Can’t wait to snowshoe this trail once more snow comes along.

Parked at closed day use area. Walked north across the river and the trail is very visible. Steep trail be prepared for some leg burn. Completed Nov 5,18 and I didn’t use spikes or poles. Was a little slippery so spikes would be beneficial. Took me 3 hours, very Little climbing rock. Just near the summit you have a tiny scramble. Only got the view for 10 minutes or so because the clouds and snow blew in. Good workout. I will have to do it again on a clear day because I did not get the full view at the summit.

Hiked it NOV. 3rd.. we parked at the day park area which was closed. Followed the trail north along hwy40, that lead into the bushes. trail was steep and Icey going up. Spikes and poles were key, once you get to the ridge you can explore right and left, left will take u up to the summit, pretty easy going from there. 1 foot of snow, but well tracked down. Awesome 360 views of the valley and all peaks around. Absolutely gorgeous.
Decent was icey and muddy, bush waked the whole way down to stay off the muddy trail . Was an awesome hike. We took our time with lots of breaks to take nature in. Up and down in 4 hours.

Did this last year with snowshoes. Super fun!

This trail is nice all throughout all the seasons, it’s a bit strenuous once you start going up but the switchbacks offer some relief. I hiked this trail last week and it had quite a bit of snow so make sure you bring some clamp-ons if you have them.

Hike was ok.. highly recommend crampons this time of year as half way up became quite icy. Extremely windy at the top

she didn't have a lot of fun out there today cut the temperature was very mild and the trail was not at all icy.

Beautiful Hike. The scramble up to Sarrail Ridge can be a bit of a grind but not too difficult. Be sure to wear the proper footwear. The views from the ridge are incredibly stunning, you won't be dissapointed.
