Great trail, due to the weather we didn't get to finish it, so it's on the list for next year.

Great trail, did this in a stock jl sport s with an average of ~3-6 inches of snow. Some parts were definitely a challenge but in dry conditions.

Trail is a good mix of fantastic view points, moderate challenges and fun trail driving weaving through trees.

Wouldn’t recommend full size trucks, may be a bit tough to navigate but not an issue for 4door Jeep sized vehicles.

Easy trail with moderate spots. Some drops over 18 inches. Can be a little slick where there’s snow. No problem at all for our vehicle (jk wrangler with 3 1/2 lift and 35 tires), but maybe smaller tires or less clearance could be a problem in a couple spots. Great views and many spots to pull off or camp. Saw several other vehicles along the way(Saturday in October), so I would consider it moderately trafficked today. I have added this as one of our favorites for an easier trail.

Quick little pop in this afternoon. Was fresh snow on the ground and some icy areas in other parts. My first trail and review so I was thinking about the braking coming down. No problems in a stock Tundra. Hope to do this one again in the summer.

Fun little trail with a couple of rocky sections to keep it interesting. It has old cabins to explore, found the creepy mine, a few great camping spots and I was treated to a few amazing overlooks.
I made the mistake of not giving myself enough time to really explore, but I’ll be back another season!

Great for 1st time off-roaders with no real intimidating sections and amazing views. Aspens are beautiful in fall and there is an expansive overlook about 9 miles from the highway entrance off 550 near Ridgeway.

Another mile past the overlook you can find Alder Creek Trailhead that leads to a wonderful hike through the woods and meadows. The trail is not easily identifiable in some spots and connects with several abandoned logging roads so be sure to bring adequate supplies and a trail map/compass.

Go slow & enjoy the views on an easy winding road through the mountains. Road is possible w/o 4WD, but for the off road portion I would not recommend it unless you want some body damage...a couple minor water crossings and bumpy secrions with lots of rocks would make the trip unpleasant in a 2WD in my opinion. if it has rained 4WD would be best for steep muddy spots.

BLUF: this is not an easy trail! This is a moderate trail. At least 3 spots that required technical driving and someone guiding you. Not entirely a problem, made it more fun, but you shouldn’t go alone. Nice little pullouts to grab lunch and a beverage. Scenic for a the majority. I love how close to Denver it is!

Nice trail. Was easy enough in my '14 Tacoma Baja. nice trail tips in app made navigation a breeze.

This is the best trail beginning-to-end in Colorado. Poser rock is always fun. Always take the harder line if you have the option.

Fun trail I guess. It would be better going up I think. There are a few tippy spots coming down, so don’t go too quick.

Attempted this in a stock Subaru Crosstrek. Didn't get very far, clearance wasn't an issue but the stock tires couldn't grip the soft sandy dirt. I think after a set of all terrains and maybe some underbody protection (didn't scrape but not sure what the rest of the trail looks like) I'll attempt it again (with my brother's Rubicon tagging along). I'm new to "soft-roading" so I don't really know what an easy trail looks like but I think this might be miscategorized.

It’s not all that easy people. Don’t know who rates these things. It was a BLAST! But not entirely easy. Many parts were a solid moderate. There were a ton of places to get off the marked path! The rocks were beautiful. Wish we would have been there last week when more of the aspens would have held their leaves but it was still beautiful.

Great drive. Was not expecting all the rocks coming down from Animas Fork. Definitely chastity scrapping in some areas. Other than that my Jeep Wrangler did great! We had a blast and spent all day on the Alpine Trail.

I would highly recommend this trail! The scenery is amazing and the obstacles aren’t difficult unless you go the 110J which there was a spot I would not attempt with my lifted Tacoma unless I had rock sliders. There are tons of camping spots from large areas for big groups to small single camp sites near the stream.

Great little trail, one of my favorites so far. I have a 2016 JK Rubicon with 3.5" lift and 35's. Quite an easy one with a couple fun challenges. I only saw a couple people on the trail all day. Leaves are changing and it was just a beautiful ride. Not very rocky at all. Didn't even air down.

Pretty mild at first just zig zagging through the trees and some ruts to go through. Then once you get on 313 gets real fun and a little challenging for a stock vehicle. There is a trail that wasn’t on the map by the air force over look, so went and checked it out. The trail was pretty fun at first but then it gets real difficult at a rutted out turn between two trees, then goes onto being a steep v notched road that leads to a camp spot on a deadend. Probably not the best for the stock rig but made it none the less. But other than that sticking to the main trail on the map makes for a fun little trip, definitely again.

Super fun trail with some good obstacles but nothing crazy. Its a little tougher to run it the way it says here, but if you’re confident in your driving most stock vehicles with 4x4 and good clearance shouldn’t have any trouble. Otherwise just run it taking a right at the first fork. Most of the camping is on that side of the loop as well.

Started from Animas Forks, aired down there.
Would recomend airing down in Silverton, as the road to Animas Forks was bumpier than I expected. :-)

The majority of this trail goes through the valley as seen in the map.
There are plenty of pullouts and the rocks on the trail are small enough and it's straightforward enough to navigate.

The challenging part of the trail (if you don't like heights) is when the climb starts to the pass at Western end of the valley.

We got caught in a hailstorm, which lasted long enough to ensure that there was water running down the trail and impacted visibility as we ascended and descended.
I did find about halfway up that there is a steep climb and needed to be in 4 low to get up (something to keep in mind).

The top of the pass did have great views of lake Como and the drops off the edge can play mayhem with vertigo. :-)

There is however plenty of room for a number of vehicles, even if it might feel a bit tighter than it really is.

Heading down, again hampered somewhat by the hail and running water, taking it steady in 4 low, no issues.

One thing on the ascent and descent is check where other vehicles are on the trail and negotiate who's going to go down or up. The trail at this point has only a couple of pull outs on the way up or down and is only narrow enough for one vehicle.

Overall a good trail with some tight, quite steep spots with exciting views. It also gives you the choice of heading onto Poughkeepsie Gulch (Difficult 6-8) or Hurricane Pass (Easy 2-3).

Fun Drive, some tricky parts, aspens everywhere, beautiful views!

Great easy road. Great views.

Great quiet trail, lots of interesting rocks if you look closely. We saw a few campers off the road in little pull offs and a really sweet cabin in a clearing (remember: no trespassing). The dogs loved it, too

Nice trail! Camped with friends and there were amazing views. Most of the trail is easy, but with recent rains the three technical spots were washed out making a fun challenge. Definitely need 4x4 clearance though and not awd.

‘16 power wagon on 315s made the trail easy.

Great trail, we camped there this past weekend and ran it Sunday when we left, the views are amazing!

Its a fun, no pressure drive. Beautiful views and a few camping spots. I got lost and ended up at a long dead end and had to go all the way back, so planning and paying attention are important to do the loop. Well worth a casual day, but not much of a challenge. Some of the trails are tight in the trees. Bigger trucks will get some scratching. Big lifted trucks wont get through some places but theres plenty other ways to go.

I was a little disappointed in this trail. the rating of "moderate" is not very accurate. I completed the entire loop and didnt even have to use 4 wheel drive. I would consider this trail to be very easy.. so easy that Im positive that a Subaru sedan could easily navigate the entire loop without issues. This trail is perfect for a "mall crawler" wrangler.. just enough dust to get the tires dirty and the trail is wide enough to not to put a scratch on your fenders. If you are looking for a challenge I would consider a completely different trail system. With that being said I would recommend this trail to anyone who is driving a stock truck or SUV and wants to drive over a few rocks. There are a few gorgeous views with several camping spots along the loop if youre looking to stay the night.
