Muddy all the way up- snow slush and ice towards the top. WINDY and cold at top. Bring extra layers :)

Great trail with amazing views! Quite muddy right now so make sure you wear boots if you got em. Overall a great introduction to the high peaks.

hiked 4/13 with some friends. much warmer than anticipated, we hung out on the Cascade summit for a few hours. Muddy and slippery with a little ice towards the top but easily doable with waterproof boots. Porter, on the other hand is very icy. half of our group left spikes in the parking lot and had a tough time clearing the steep sections.

Trail was still a little icy towards the top, didn’t even attempt porter. View on the peak was great!

Amazing. Huge payoff at the end with amazing 360 views. A little icy and muddy, but made it up and back with just hiking boots.

Micro spikes made the hike easier. Not too many people on the mountain

I went yesterday (4/6) and only did Cascade due to blisters and knee pain in both legs but totally worth it (Porter has a steep, icy descent.)! It’s one of my favorite hiking views to date. I used micro spikes and trekking poles which suited me just fine. Currently, I found the trail to be split up in mud for the first mile, rocks for the second, and ice for the third. I would recommend going as early in the day as possible to avoid the sloshy mud on the return trip.

Great hike. It was very icy toward the top.. Would be useful to have spikes but we did not find them necessary. There were plenty of things to grab hold of to help with stability. The summit was cloud covered when got up there so there weren't too many pictures taken. Still a great achievement.

Great hike . Awesome views . Did both mountains but the app stopped recording.

Poles and YakTracks or microspikes essential on this day. Bring a change of shirt for the top, which was chilly with the wind. We started at 5am which gave us firmer ground on the way up. Beautiful views.

The hike was awesome. 2 adults, 16, 13, 11 and 8 yr olds . We set out to conquer Cascade and couldn’t resist Porter too. Although the weather was cool when we started we were plenty warm hiking. Ice cleats were a must. Heading up the trail was ice and snow. Near the tops of the mountains there was so much snow the kids were actually sliding down on their bottoms. Both summits were amazing. Cascade summit was very windy and cold. On the return the trail had melted quite a bit at the bottom. Took us 6 and a half hours to complete. We couldn’t feel any prouder!

Conditions were super muddy and slushy, but the climb was great and the view at the top was worth every slippery step!
