We underestimated the difficulty of this trail. Going counter clockwise there was a very steep section with what could be best described as a cliff to one side. We had our 5 and 7 year old and a dog. It was steep enough, wet enough, and coverred with enough leaves that we considered turning back, but after scouting ahead a bit, it seemed it was safer going forward than turning back.

After that sketchy section, it turned into a wonderful hike with views on both sides of the ridge.

We'll probably do it again when the boys are older, but we'll do it when it's dry and we'll do it before the leaves start falling.

Good hike, dogs welcome!

Beautiful fall hike! Too late for aspens but still a nice, moderate hike

It's definitely not moderate. This trail is an easy hike or bike. Nothing difficult other than a lot of roots. Nice scenery, couldn't hear traffic, not too many people. Nice walk.

Boulder Loop is a great intro to the White Mtns. The solidly moderate 900' ascent and gentle descent are a good workout, rewarded by spectacular views from the ledges up top. Our knees hurt the next day - but we're getting old. ;-) Hiking shoes and trekking poles advised.

This was a nice long walk. The hills can be a challenge but worth it in the end.

Definitely an exciting hike, far from boring. The summit is beautiful and there is a lot to explore. Although the climb up is very steep and rocky. I normally love a good challenge, but I definitely think this one is better suited without kids (my husband carried our 3 year old on his back and I am currently 3 months pregnant). We did a lot of sliding on our butts on the way back down and had a mini panic attack here and there, but I would love to come back to this mountain someday and do some more exploring, likely when I am not pregnant and without kids. Haha. On another note, make sure to keep an eye out for the red trail markers. They are a bit hard to find in some spots.

We had a wonderful hike with our pup. Not too easy. Not too hard. Good investment in time. Outstanding views from the top. Could have stayed up on the ledges for hours.

The views make it worthwhile.

We do this hike about ten times a year. The trail is a great morning get away. Only negative is to those of you that can't respect to dog leash rule, this weekend was a mess, enjoy the forest,,, respect the humans.

Very nice place to take a walk. Even though it states "dogs must be leashed", there were looses dogs and inconsiderate dog owners. I guess the rules only apply to some people.

What a view! Rocky, with boulders, and roots make this trail interesting. A few steep spots but overall steady inclines. It was hard to leaVe the ledges. The view was so beautiful. We had them all to ourselves on a Saturday, after 3:00. You have to go back to the trail each time you go explore the ledges.

Nice trails with scenic views from top. Great foliage trail hikes from easy to moderate.

Great short hike!

This was a fun hike, trails are well maintained and blazed, until you get about 200 yards from the summit and the blazes are on rock and rather hard to find but makes for a fun climb. would rate it as moderate.

Really enjoyed our hike. We went counter clockwise and spent about half an hour at the summit. Personally, I'd rank the hike easy overall. There was a brief period of steep incline, but it was short and not technical. Be careful you don't miss the summit!

Great hike with super rewarding views at the top. Definitely follow the advice to go counter clockwise, glad we did. My dog loved it, too. Not too crowded, even in peak foliage season.

Great views!

Edit to my other post: the whole route is not closed, just the route to the left from the parking lot. Sorry for any confusion.

This route is closed as far as I know. There is a house being built here and the only way up the mountain is the fire tower loop towards the right of the parking lot. Still a good hike but a bummer that section has been cut off. Hopefully there will be some rerouting?

Great hike! Amazing Rocks & Boulder climbing Mecca! Not much of a lookout, trees blocking view.

Good trail, good time of year for it. Took the doggo. You pay for parking at the park entry station right at the trailhead, like $4-8, they might have you park across the street from the trailhead and walk over. We got to the peak of the hill in no time, so we explored the surrounding trails. It was calm, but a bit lackluster.

We went counter clockwise as suggested. Much easier on the knees. Weather was great. Only a hint of leaf fall color change though. Another week or two and it should be perfect for this hike

Really great hike, trail is well-maintained and doable for all ages. Awesome views at the top as well as along the trail at look-out points. We took the loop clockwise just because I had forgotten about the suggestions from this app but it wasn’t terribly hard coming down.
