Great workout, lots of fun places to explore on this rock. Lots of traffic but get there early. Found my own personal lookout spot and even a cave

This was a rather easy hike. especially if you go left first, it makes the trail easier. but this one was one of the most rewarding hikes i have ever been on! the most beautiful scenes at the top, and this was not too hard of a trail. a MUST!

on Half Dome Trail

The view at the top of half dome and the feeling of accomplishment is worth every bit of sweat (and fear). Our group began from the Trailhead parking lot a little before midnight and reached the top of subdome around 5am, waited until it got a bit brighter and got to the top of half dome before 6am to watch the sunrise. Hiking up at night was great to avoid the heat and crowds. I probably sweat more on the way down in the sun than I did on the way up in the dark. We took the Mist Trail up (which is currently completely dry) and JMT down to save our knees. For me, the cables (especially going down) was quite terrifying. We were the first group on the cables so we thought it'd be best to leave large gaps between everyone while climbing. There were parts on the way down where I slid from plank to plank (even with very grippy hiking boots). I feel like if we had been there during a busier part of day, it may have been less scary with smaller distances between people and being forced to go much slower. We stayed at the top for almost an hour and got back to the car around noon. On the way down, we did encounter a ranger who was on her way up to subdome and asked to see our permit.

What else can you say that hasn’t already been said? Exhausting, exhausting hike but well worth the effort. Like many others, we hiked up the Mist Trail and down the John Muir trail, which we felt was a good choice. We started at 4 AM, and returned to our car at 1:30 PM. You will be in for a LONG, exhausting day of hiking!

One of my favorites so far in the Smokies!!

Obviously an amazing trek with a pristine view of the valley and miles of Yosemite Park. It is not for the faint, and definitely has some technical terrain, but we'll worth the effort.

Traveling up the cables and down can take time due to a number of people, generally between 11am and 2pm.

Overall, it's a gem of a hike. Train well for it and enjoy the amazing views and vistas.

I live up here and this is my favorite hike to take especially when fall hits.

Very hard cores trails up and down. Needed tone in shape and bring a lots of water. When you get to the top of half Dome take you time exploring all surrounding. Climbing the cable was pretty easy only if you have gloves and hardness equipments. Try to avoid crowds so made easier.

This trail was amazing great scenery of the water and the mountains, the waterfalls at the end is worth the hike. The walking bridges that you crossing overlooking the water is great. You want be disappointment at all. I had lunch at the top then walked back down the 4 miles. A total of 8 miles that I really enjoyed. the weather was great it rained a little but with all my sweat i didn’t even notice.

Beautiful scenery!

Fantastic trail, one of the best in the park!

I'm not going to beat a dead horse here but for those of you that are not in shape are overweight and don't do a lot of hiking this is not the hike for you because I'm the poster boy for those three categories and it kicked my rear end today. I'm 5 6 230 lb and I'm an equipment operator and lazy so I don't get much exercise at all. it killed me on the way up just saying

Love love loved it! Last hike we did before we leave for home. Glad we waited to do it last. Was not difficult at all.

The wife and I were on vacation in blue ridge, so we decided to find a waterfall close by. Long curvy roads but a nice a waterfall.

Hiked in on 05/05/2018, and out on 05/07/2018. The hike in to the village was easy to follow, but 2 out of 3 of us got blisters from the loose gravel/rocks that made our feet roll in unusual ways. I brought a blister pack that fixed us up for the rest of the trip.
We stayed at the Lodge in the village, and found everyone to be helpful and most to be friendly. The man running the Sinyella store was very nice.
We hiked down to Lil Navajo falls the first day, and did some wading there. The trail from the village to the falls is a very fine dirt/sand, like walking at the beach.
The second day we hiked over to Havasu Falls and Mooney Falls. Both bueatiful, as expected. We swam at both falls, and enjoyed the day.
Because of our blisyers, we didn't attempt to find Beaver Falls. Maybe next time.
On the third day, we left the Lodge at 4:00 am to beat the sun. I had a good, bright headlamp that made it possible. Even so, we had to backtrack and find the trail again twice in the dark of the morning. Fortunately, only a couple hundred feet each time. It got easier to pick the right path as the sun came up.
All in all, a great time and place to be.

Always great. I first came here in high school with my school. It was amazing, and unforgettable, so I've been back 4 times.
Just pack light. You don't need much. I have tented, and hammocked. I prefer to sleep in a hammock, and it's lighter to pack in and out. If you're a wuss, you can pay to have your bags taken out by helicopter. We actually did it one year, and it was worth it. $10 a bag.
2 years ago I took my 9 year old. She hiked in and out, and did amazing. What a trooper!

Awesome trail, little traffic and awesome views at the top.

I did this hike today and it was very nice. The view is so beautiful at the end! The hike isn’t too strenuous and I would rate it moderate to hard at the very end. Be careful with yellow jackets (there was a nest), I got stung and ended up with a severe allergic reaction and a rescue team had to come get me. So if you’re allergic, take your pen/meds with you!

Really great hike. Good trail for beginners as there are not many difficult parts to it, but one is still rewarded with breathtaking views. I suggest going around noon or in the afternoon as in the morning the views are a little limited.

Amazing and very rewarding hike!!! Make sure you bring enough water. I ran out right after hitting the top ( I took 1.5 liters) Thankfully I was hydrated enough to walk back down to the falls(probably 4 miles) to get more. Totally worth it!!! I was glad I had trekking poles with me, I would definitely reccomend to do the same!

Steep steps towards bottom. Down all the way in, up reverse. One of the nicest falls in NC. Well worth the hike

First thing to note is that this is a different trail than looking glass falls which several people seemed confused about. The only water fall is a very small one near the start. The trail is not steep but the 3 miles out is entirely uphill. The view at the top is definitely worth it though!

Excellent trail. We hiked after a rain and it was muddy in places, but the waterfall was well worth the wait.

I must see what an adventure

Great trail. Lots of people though. Didn’t expect to be that crowded. Nice waterfall.

Lovely views, lovely hike. The climb is never steep, just steady and moderate. We hiked up for sunset and soaked in our first Eastern sights of the Milky Way along with a hand-full of meteors from the Perseid shower. Other than a few passers-by, we had the place to ourselves.

Did this hike on July 13th, weather was amazing and we got very lucky to finish this hike before the fire. Definitely an ass kicker but if you’ve trained for it you’re fine. I took 4 liters of water and was fine but my friends took less and filtered water at the river. Apply and reapply sunscreen because the sun is on you for most of the trail. I recommend getting a harness for the cables because although it doesn’t make it easier going up, you do have a sense of security just in case. Take it slow, it’s a great adventure worth taking your time for.. Take lots of pictures and have fun!

Great hike especially with younger hikers. Awesome views and a real sense of you made it to the top for the young ones.

Clockwise is the easier route.

Quick hike to see a waterfall off of the Blue Ridge Parkway! We did this hike in a slight rainfall and it was perfect weather! Falls were the best at that time too.
