Amazing place. Went yesterday, they’re decorating for Christmas. It is going to be amazing, wish I was going to be here. This is maintained by Servite Monks and is a prayerful place. If you aren’t into Jesus, Mary and Joseph go somewhere else. I almost didn’t stop here because it’s such a short trail. I am so glad I did. Spent an hour and a half going going through the Rosary Garden and the Stations of the Cross, as well as the Meditation Chapel on the top. Absolutely stunning view of (I’m guessing) Mt Hood. May go back tonight after dark, just to see it lit up!

Hiked on Nov 8. Bathrooms at TH, no parking fee, parked on Thurman and walked down stairs next to the bridge. First section of the trail is beautiful, serene, canopied forest that wanders next to Baluch Creek. Continue straight at Stone House...trail has a few turns where it’s best to check your navigation because it is not well-marked up to Pittock Mansion. After you cross CORNELL Rd, you will hear traffic the rest of the way. Slight ascend, dense forest, and beautiful scenic views of P-town are your reward.

One of the best urban trails in America!

Great hike. There’s a bit of an incline at certain points but otherwise it’s manageable. At the top is an old mansion with some great views of the City.

Pros: Great nature center, lots of trail options, education along the way.

Cons: Extremely high traffic, especially during program times, close proximity to parking and road in places.

gorgeous, but parking very nominal..

It’s a good day hike. A good hike to do with friends as an alternative to a coffee date to catch up on life. It took me a couple hours to do and it’s nice because there are bathrooms at the top

Have been going here since the 60s.
wasn't so crowded then.
funny they named the old bathrooms the Witches Castle.
Still, love this trail when not crowded.

nice trail but is not mountain biking friendly

Lots of places to get on and off the trail. it was busy but still very nice.

Took our 7 & 4 years olds all the way to the mansion. Great hike and lots of spots for the kids to explore along the way as well as some “rest/snack” spots. My husband pushed our BOB stroller with a kiddo in it, it wasn’t easy but doable with an “off-road” stroller, if you’re in shape.

Sad how many dog poop bags are along the side of the trail, I don’t understand that ignorance. Leashed dogs are allowed, and all but a few folks complied with the leash rule.

Overall a great spot & nice trail.

This is a great paved urban trail. The views of the salmon creek are beautiful close to 36th. It’s a good spot for a run with an option to make it a loop off the paved trail.

Sketchy. My boyfriend and I walked about half a mile in and we didn’t feel comfortable continuing because of how uncared for the space is. It was also right by the freeway.

it was a good challenging trail. It was fun and refreshing.

i gave it a 3 but i think it should be more of a 3.5. For being so close in the city it is really nice. it is pretty busy on a September Saturday (not unexpected) I had to park a quarter mile from the trailhead. As there is space for only about 25cars in the lower area where you can park. The lower area is pretty through Mccleary park. This area follows a stream and had nice water features. There was however plenty of trash and it really bothered my daughter. Also as there were plenty of dogs someone couldnt be bothered to bring their crap out. I agree with the assements about the first 1.5 miles up being easy and the next 1mile being moderate.

Great before or after work jaunt! I do this all the time but never tracked myself before this. I was surprised it was more than 4 miles as it’s so easy breezy, but a great in city workout in an out of city setting!

Grew up walking on these trails! Peaceful and beautiful

Great spot to run in a figure 8 or down trails, but not what you’re looking for for a great hike!
Perfect for kids and families who live near by. If you live far away and want substantial hiking, tryon creek!

The trailhead GPS coordinates are Co-ordinates: 46.6257, -121.4459, made it easy to find the small parking location off the side of the 12 highway, room for several cars.

Trail is in good shape.

Crossing the river after the first mile gets your feet wet. Crossing it on the way back was a little trickier in the darkness. It can go above your knees.

I thought the last miles heading up to the lookout were pretty hard, but easily doable if you took your time. No bugs really.

Super views from the top.

I did this trail as an out and back in the same day. It is about 16 miles long.

Usually this trail is pretty empty, but because of the PCT fire detour, we bumped into about 40 hikers heading towards the highway. A lot of them asked me for the number of miles to the highway, a lot were in disbelief for some reason.

Note: I'm not happy with all the plastic tape placed on dozens of trees. That is plastic. Please use anything other than plastic. That will break down smaller and end up the water systems. Think better next time please.

It's my first time and I love it. will come back!

Peaceful and solitude while walking through Crosses trail. Dogs arent allowed to the top but are welcome to walk along bottom trails

Much of this trail is paved and level, making it accessible to those in wheelchairs or other mobility devices.

Great trail, the map can be a bit confusing at times, but it the trails are all maintained, and the views are fantastic.

Have done this and other trails in the park. Shady all the way. Parts can be muddy and slippery in the rainy season. Usually not very crowded considering it’s in a city.

Great. Except for tree size, it has the same cathedral feel as the Redwoods. Stay home. I don't wanna share.

Prepare to get wet! Fantastic hike along and in a creek. Beautiful scenery as you hike through a canyon, climb over a huge log jam and wade through the water to reach a cascading waterfall at the end of your hike. Highly recommend!

Part of this trail is really beautiful and the lake is worth hiking to but a lot of the trail is like walking on marbles.

Easy hikes available for every age group

Well maintained trail in the heart of PDX. I prefer early as the trail is open at 5 AM. Nice and quiet then.
