good hike or backpack to the top and camp overnight like we did. better be in good shape to hike this one, nice vertical ascends, some narrow areas plus a few wet areas. take emergency supplies with you if your just hiking, plenty of water, maybe some light first aid. there was only one problem we didn't have enough time to hike more. this is absolutely beautiful you have to see it for yourself. get out and enjoy our state and national parks. we are headed to Colorado next then back to the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains.

Really not terribly difficult, the stair portions are the hardest since they are quite the incline (calves and quads will feel it). The rest of the trail is moderate incline the whole way. The view at the top is pretty good but as of recently the last part of the trail has been closed, which is where the good view is.

Beautiful hike, wear hiking boots not tennis shoes! Bring water and a snack for when you get to the falls, it is well worth the hike. We live in Iowa and the trail was difficult for us but we made it!

Just WOW! The views, the trail and nature all in one sweet hike. We did the full loop and down to bottom of the waterfall.

Lots and I mean lots of steps but the view at the top is beautiful and definitely worth it. We loved the tower!

View at the top is worth it! Very muddy right now, and our watches showed 3 miles each way

Dear lord this was a hard trail. Me and my two best friends went camping together and we spontaneously decided to do this trail for some reason. The whole thing is pretty much uphill but the view... my god the view was incredible at the top. It was so breathtaking it made the whole hike worth it. Just a note: the three of us are not in peak physical condition. I’m moderately fit but have hypoglycemia and a syncope problem, one friend has asthma and hypoglycemia but she runs frequently, and the second friend just casually works out. It took a while to go up and down this monster but we managed it.

Beautiful waterfall, very tall and powerful. Easy hike to it except it is a lot of stairs in the beginning. No bathrooms so go before you even drive there. Muddy at some points so don’t wear your brand new shoes as we saw several had on.

A really fun hike with some great scenery. I would recommend starting the hike early around 7 o’clock maybe 8 o’clock; this is what I did and I had the whole trail to myself until I was on my way down.

Outstanding hike- my family, including children 6,10,12 completed the loop all the way down to the base of the falls in 3 1/2 hours to include pictures, snacks and water breaks. Started the hike on the southern loop, went to base, and returned on northern loop route. Northern firebreak is wide flat surface with steady incline. Easy stream crossings for kids throughout trail. Most challenging portion is the short final hike from end of fire break road at base of falls. Not too busy on New Year’s Day. BONUS- picnic area with restrooms/ tables at start point and skyline drive a absolutely stunning. plan extra time to enjoy the drive and a picnic before or after the hike.

Some slick rock due to all the moisture we’ve had. Nice waterfall. Dog enjoyed the hike and opportunity for fresh water when she needed it. Wouldn’t hesitate to bring my 12 year old.

Loved the view from the top, but there wasn't much of a view at all till the overlook. Some of the other climbs we hiked had a several views along the way, this one was forest until the overlook.
Still, a fun hike, with a breathtaking view. The single vantage point, and reasonably heavy amount of traffic will probably keep me from going back, but I think it was absolutely worth doing once!

Great views. Not too difficult of a hike. Definitely worth it!

So happy I read the reviews before we embarked on this hike - Left is easy, and enjoyable. Right - Straight uphill for a long, long time. Going left, first part has a lot of views of smaller falls and runs along the river. When you get halfway, views turn into open fields, and more forest. But the ending was awesome. Seeing that waterfall so close up was super cool! It was VERY WET from the rain over the last week. Part of the road on the way to the trailhead was washed out. Overall, great hike.

Fun trail with breathtaking views at the top! It’s a decent hike up - also super muddy from all the rain. There were also a ton of people hiking this trail. After you get through the switchbacks, it’s a steady incline up. Bring a snack and enjoy the view at the top.

Very challenging but rewarding as well. We do it almost Everytime we come to Gatlinburg.

It was pretty nice trip.Little tricky find a trail when service road ends but we cross that stream and find it.really worth it.Total distance what we walk was little over six miles cause you can continue from that waterfalls up.Our dogs love it. just meet one couple on the way so perfect and quiet.

We went after a big rain and it was very muddy and slick most of the way up. Beautiful scenery with fishing creek beside you for much of the way.

The trail is well marked and easy to follow. the view from the top is really beautiful especially on a clear day. Plus the sound of the water coming from the creek is really refreshing. It is a little bit of a workout but it is worth it.

This was a wonderful trail. As other reviewers stated... go up the left side to avoid the stairs. I would have highly disliked this trail if I had to climb up all those stairs. It was a busy Saturday at the park but this trail was very quiet. A beautiful 360 view from the top. The lookout tower is really cool!

Nice loop trail from deep creek access point of GSMNP. Maybe 5 miles but easy enough that keeping track isn’t really necessary. Going to juney whank falls first and going clockwise the first half will run along a creek, then climb a bit, then descend to run along another creek. 3 waterfalls in all and all pretty for this time of year. Most of the trail is wide and flat with benches so it’s good for anyone.

Love this trail! A little muddy today, but the falls were flowing beautifully!

This was a beautiful trail even in the winter. I didn’t expect the beautiful view of the mountains near the falls. The falls are very impressive especially if you hike the extra mile to see them up close. The first half of the trail is all downhill and the second half is all uphill. The second half or maybe two-thirds was quite strenuous for my husband.

Excellent trail with views pretty much the whole way. Well marked. Very windy at the top but that's to be expected so bring a windbreaker of some type.

Beautiful waterfall! The trail is short and starts out with a lot of stairs but not too bad. dog friendly as well.

Very easy hike

HARD in the winter time! I’d recommend wearing proper hiking shoes and clothes. The views are amazing. I got to see 1 buck and a few squirrels. I made it to the little water fall.
