Must hike place!!!!
Be wary- the road is closed off, it’s an extra 1.5 miles from the parking area to the start of the hike aka the waterfalls!
Got to the trailhead where the valley begins around 10 AM on Easter Sunday and there weren't too many cars so parking wasn't a concern. Weather was great, went from 44 to 60 F, so we took off our coats when we entered the mountain but it did get bit chilly at the top. Super flat and easy hike for the first 2.5 miles then it star
Beautiful view!
Awesome trail. Large parts along the Appalachian Trail. Close to 14m. Awesome weather!!!! Must do. Tough, rough parts but great.
Awesome
Went on Good Friday. Parking was not a problem. Nice walk in beginning - Cool outside -Little muddy. Trail was well marked. Now I know why it’s called stairway to heaven. When I got to the top I wanted to die. My legs were spent. The view made it worth it. Wind on top and temperature was in the low 20’s but over all a great experience.
Gorgeous! Hiked this last week and all of the ice had melted a way. A bit muddy but not terrible. We went on a Thursday at noon and ran into quite a few people/got one of the last parking spots. I can’t imagine how crowded this gets on the weekend. A lot of different terrains though and delicious ice cream half way through (mandatory refuel station). Overall really enjoyed this hike!
crowded, glad we did it, but won't be back
Crowded
Views weren’t all that aside from the waterfall at the beginning but still cool trail.
love this hike. Since we hiked it in the beginning of spring it was still icy and very muddy. all in all we had a great day.
A couple areas of patchy ice that were slippery, and unfortunately located at some of the steepest parts haha. It was really muddy mid hike, for maybe 3 miles of mud total - wear proper boots! Also, very crowded (with LOTS of dogs and families) which makes the boardwalk areas especially treacherous. Other than that, great hike with a fairly wide variety of scenery and trail type: flat boardwalk in an open swamp, quickly turning into a steep scramble up through a wooded mountainside. The view at the top is amazing, but definitely should consider the challenges mentioned above. It also helped that today was a gorgeous, clear day, nearing 60°F.
CLOSED BARRICADED ALL ACCESSES
ice has mostly melted now. pretty easy to navigate around the small chunks left
Nice views. Trail was very muddy but well marked.
