Fairly steep route (1,000 feet gain/mile) but the trail's in good shape and well-groomed. A couple of trees down that little ones will need help getting over.

Crowded with fitness hikers, families and folks w/ dogs.

Met one hardy soul who was starting his third lap of the day(!).

great hike. beautiful day. clear views from the top. reccomend hiking poles at least for the trip down.

Beautiful hike with incredible views. Just enough incline going up to get your heart rate up and blood pumping. Perfect for a easy hike to get outside and even better, the eagles are out this time of year!!

Family favorite short and very scenic hike in the Mt. Rainier National Park.

Beautiful hike. It was super muddy due to all the rain, but well worth it!

Be prepared to get wet if you go in the winter! The falls were incredible. It was a very easy hike and took us about an hour to get there, take in the falls and relax a bit, and get back to our car. Some tourists in running shoes and umbrellas managed it just fine, too!

Cons: Could be very crowded/congested on weekends from November-December. This is mostly due to large birdwatching crowds in the area; especially during “Eagle Week.” Wildlife other than eagles is scarce due to trail usage, number of people & dogs.

Pros: Despite the crowds, the area is gorgeous with 90° lake views @ summit, large timber & rolling hillside on the accent. The trail is well maintained with mile markers as well as nav. signs.

Tips: Current conditions prove no snow & only dusting @ summit. 1st mile is a very gradual incline; proving doable for toddlers/kids -5. Upon reaching mile marker 1 expect incline switchbacks which could prove tough for toddlers/kids -5 or packs 35+.

Happy Trails :)

Beautiful river and multiple waterfalls all along the trail. Beautiful, short, easy hike.

Graveled path for most of the way and beautiful forest.

we came in from hwy 12 ..the gate was closed but we decided to hike imto the campground and visitors center.. beautiful hike all the same.. ..there was no snow on the roads up to the gate....there was snow inside the gate but tire tracks left perfect snow free spots to follow all the way in.

beautiful trail, the falls are gorgeous. Mile markers would be nice for first timers. Watch your time in the winter PM. Quite a few signs of sasquatch.

My husband and I did this hike in July. It was perfect! The view was amazing. I do recommend doing this hike during the summer when it’s not so rainy so you get the perfect view.

Very easy trail that meanders along a river and a smaller stream. Last few hundred feet to the waterfall are very steep and require a climb up a few dozen stairs. However, the end experience is well worth the effort.

Hiked this one with my mom a few years ago, and it was really enjoyable. The trees are absolutely enormous, makes you feel so small!

This was probably my favorite hike I've ever done! The forest was so whimsical. lots of foliage, mushrooms, waterfalls, and it's easy! don't forget to wear boots and bring an umbrella :)

Great terrain, trails well groomed. December was muddy, and Mozzi and I got good rain and a little gusty winds too. We went to test some new gear, so these were the conditions we were looking for... The hike itself is pretty easy with lots of switchbacks, no major technical terrain either. There are some steep spots on the way back so be thoughtful of that. This is a perfect pair of trails for that quick 45 min to hour and a half hike, you can go up to lost man, or just hit the scenic loop and be on your way. From Spokane and back, it was a four hour trip. Totally doable

It was really pretty! December was a good month to go and it wasn’t busy at all! A good place to break for lunch. We mixed it with lovers leap, devils gulch, and needle point.

Easy family snowshoeing trail with good view.

frozen and beautiful

Easy hike with great views. Go early - before 8am for least crowds, good light and a run.

Super fun trail run. Big beautiful old growth trees and well groomed pathways. Perfect family or relaxing trails. Make sure to take the detour to the Crescent Lake Lodge!

Easy to get to. Great scenery. Less than an hour walk.

Did this trail the Saturday after Going-To-The-Sun road opened this year. Came here in the afternoon, found parking easily The trail was still mostly covered in snow. Many people came with their sleds and skis - apparently a yearly ritual for some locals. Hidden Lake was still frozen. The views were dramatic and stunning at the overlook and throughout the hike. I just wish there were less people.

The snow is hard packed out to the falls which are iced over and beautiful.

Perfect 2 hour hike with great views

went today and we were the only people out. kinda chilly and a bit icy but we warmed up while walking. it was so beautiful and we plan to come back during spring/ summer! definitely easy for all skill levels!

We loved this hike today. I wish we could have finished it, but after the first few miles it got too icy to attempt in just hiking boots, so we didn’t make it to Comet Falls. The part we did was beautiful and we’d like to go back with the proper equipment. The is some snow on the trail but it would be passable if not for the ice toward the top.

easy with a great view
