on Red Pine Lake Trail

Beautiful scenic hike overlooking the Little Cottonwood Canyon, yellow aspens were vibrant. A consistent uphill not any switchbacks that I can remember. Lots of rocks! Will hike this again

Absolutely beautiful. Great hike. Incredible lake and mountain views. Not too hard. 6 year old did it with his own pack. Try to take family backpacking and camping up here at least once a year.

its uphill the whole way good times beautiful waterfall. beginners were at that are we there yet about 3/4 way. lolz. so worth it. well worn trail.

I did this hike last weekend while visiting for a race and it was absolutely beautiful. The climb is steep in areas but well worth the view of the lake at the top! It took us about 4 hours and that included stops for pictures and hanging out around the lake soaking in all the views! So glad I did this hike while visiting, it was especially magical with the fall colors!

Sunny trail. Beautiful scenery. The lake was beautiful, even if it was low. I would, however, say this trail is more than “lightly traveled”. On a Wednesday morning (around 10), I saw dozens of hikers and bikers.

Steep as hell but very rewarding. Lake Blanche is breathtaking and there are two more lakes with a gorgeous backdrop within a few hundred yards. About half the trail is shaded, the water level of the lake is super low in the fall so you can walk around the whole thing pretty quickly.

hey was a nice beautiful hike today. This is definitely a hard level hike. Don't let anybody fool you thinking this is an intermediate hike you need to be in good shape and be ready to rock. Definitely bring good shoes as there is a lot of rocks and this Trail has a steady incline and will test your Fitness level.

Completely breathtaking scenery. After hiking mount Olympus this was a piece of cake. I think it should be rated as moderate.

The views are as good as it gets! We hiked on Labor Day, so lots of hikers and dogs. Not terribly strenuous and only took a few hours. The water at the lake above was cold and refreshing to swim in. I’ll definitely hike again with my dog.

We loved the hike and the tour! We took our 3 year old and 1 year old and they loved it.

It’s a pretty steep and rocky trail but a beautiful hike. I wish I had worn shoes with more ankle support. It was a little longer than anticipated but it is something you can spend the day on.

Tough hike but so very worth it for the views!

Lovely hike to a beautiful waterfall. i enjoyed hiking by the stream and seeing all the beautiful little cascades of water and mini waterfalls. We started early but I can imagine when it is hot the first part would be a beast! The information we read said dogs were welcome if on a leash...I saw lots of dogs and none of them were on a leash! The dog poop along the trail left by inconsiderate dog owners was a real distraction to this beautiful trail! Come on dog owners pick up after your dogs or don't use this trail!

Definitely bring your dog on ODD numbered days so you don’t have to keep them out of the way of mountain bikers. There are a lot of bikers, runners, and hikers on this rail. Definitely recommend going in the morning (ie. avoid the heat and crowd). Per usual, there’s noticeably more cars/bikes/people as it gets towards 9am+. Pay $3 to a person in a booth on the way out (back toward I-215).

There are two parts to this hike. The first 0.7 miles is Rattlesnake Gulch- shaded and uphill. It’s a workout.

Take a left at the sign. The second part is 1.0 mile on Pipeline Trail with a nice view of the canyon and then the city/valley. Path is narrower and more windy (as in blowing air, not as in curvy), shade harder to come by. (You’ll see a Wasatch National Forest sign at about 1.4 miles total. Go another 0.3 to see a big metal tube thing and a place to sit and enjoy the view for a bit.)

Going up took us 45 minutes with short breaks going uphill. Going down took us 35 minutes with a bunch of stops to move aside for bikers.

Great hike. We had to go up the “gulley” since a marvelous full grown bull moose decided to block the trail. There was no way to convince the big guy to move.

So beautiful but for sure a doozy! Comparable to Squaw Peak if you’ve done that hike. Loved the views!

Worth the struggle

great trail beautiful scenery got some really steep hills though.

Gorgeous trail. Fall leaves beginning - probably a couple weeks to peak. Few people on the trail although 10 or so eating at the lake. Hiked with a 9 yo who was awestruck by the views and had no trouble with the uphills, the rocky areas nor the gravel downhills.

Let’s be clear and say that leaving your orange peels, pistachio shells, and Cheerios is not Leave No Trace. Please plan ahead or put that stuff in your backpack!

On a positive note, it was a fun hike that takes about an hour and a half each direction at a quick pace.

Awesome hike to a 360 degree view!

This was a fun hike. Steep in some places especially at the end. I personally would not put this hike in the hard catigory. Waterfall is barely a trickle.

Great hike. Good to start early if possible. Steep climb. Good hiking shoes and plenty of water are advisable. There are many good spots for pictures. I took my camera, hammock, and day pack and spent the day around the lakes.

is nice place

One of my favorite hikes the way up is amazing and the caves are even cooler!

"Bang for the buck," the best views available along the wasatch front considering the effort you make to get there. The trail is mostly shaded and this makes the fall colors amazing along the way. This is a very popular hike so weekends are busy and parking can be the biggest challenge. The trail is somewhat difficult if you don't either hike or workout regularly. Bring a lunch and enjoy the views at the lake.

The best hike I’ve ever been on. The views are amazing facing Sundial Peak and the view of where you came from is breathtaking. If you go on a weekday you’ll have significantly less crowds.

Went on this trail last Friday and really enjoyed it!!! the lake was beautiful at the end of the hike and was perfect to relax at before heading down. the view was amazing and hoping to get back at it soon.

I live in Layton, but I will drive 45 minutes for this hike. BeaUTAHful views all the way up, with not to many people on the trail. Clear trail but it is up hill most of the way. Very shady and nice and windy around this time. A few bikers so keep an eye out. I ran down today and it was glorious!!! The lake is amazing too.

Great hike to a beautiful waterfall.
