We walked from the Campground up to North Peak. A good steady uphill all the way. Take water even in November- we consumed over 2 litres each. At the top with the lookout we had 3 Condors as we had lunch. 2 mature and 1 Juvenile- all with tagged #’s. Resting on the roof of the lookout.
23 kms in total. No one else on the Peak trail. Highly recommend.

It wonderful trail. Took us about 45 mins walk wonderful view the lake

Nice easy to moderate hike with lovely views. A little busy on a Sunday but it was also a holiday weekend. Try to go early! No smoke from fires when we went today (11/11/2018)

Loved this trail, went during the off season and was able to have the trail to ourselves. Easy walk, beautiful views. Took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the furthest lake and around 3 hours (with side hikes) to complete. You can get this trail done in 2 hours if you go straight there and back.

does anyone recall where the sundial is located on this hike? its an old stone Indian sundial which is off the trail itself. I think its on the ridge part above Forest Knolls.

great loop

Just a heads up the trail map at the trail head is different than the one posted here, so pick one or the other to follow.

Saw some nice doggos!

Time this trail accordingly as it will be covered in snow during winter/spring. This is my go to place for hiking. Its a nice hike with shaded trees. There is a nice resting spot next to a waterfall. The views are stunning looking over Reno and of course Lake Tahoe. Recommend doing this hike in light summer/fall for the best weather.

Great hike with great views. The last mile is a bit of a climb but well worth it.

Gotta love loop hikes! Even without the trip to the summit this is an excellent hike. Take the brand-new Tahoe Rim Trail section from the top of the waterfall for an added workout (instead of dropping into the valley before getting to the junction that leads to the top of Mt. Rose) (on this map).
Also, be aware that there is a new cut-off from the "Rest Stop to Relay" trail to the Relay Peak Trail at about .7 miles from the trailhead. (NOT on this map, or the one at the trailhead)). You'll still get where you're going, but it's a little confusing.

Like previously stated the end was anticlimactic. It ends at a fork in the road. However, there was nice views.

gorgeous hike and the lake is amazing! might have been because I went on a Saturday, but it was incredibly crowded all the way up and down. Still a good one!

Really beautiful. Not too busy, lots of friendly people on the trail. The end was a bit anticlimactic in my opinion because it didn’t offer as beautiful views as the earlier part of the trail. Lovely hike though.

Easier route is to follow Hedge Creek Falls trail to the end and cross the river. (I’ve done this with an 8 yo) Mossbrae Falls is a short 1/2 to 3/4 mile walk further along the tracks.

Great trail for intermediate mountain biking. A few tough spots but well worth the ride to Berry Creek falls. Saw plenty of friendly hikers and a few other bikers.

Beautiful lake, fairly easy hike. The falls were dry so not much to see. Pleasant place to stop for lunch.

Nicely maintained trail. Only took it up to the first waterfall and it was a nice route that can be done in an hour. Great view over south lake tahoe at the Vista Point only a couple hundred vertical feet up the trail

This has been my favorite hike so far. Beautiful scenery!

I am a seasoned hiker for sure, having hiked much longer and harder trails than this one, down into the Grand Canyon, up to Wheeler Peak, as well as Grinnell Glacier and other tough hikes, so this hike wasn't very hard on me as far as switchbacks were concerned. But what got me was that the trail wasn't in good of shape as I would have liked it to be, up towards the 3/4 mile point. The trail is very narrow there and right by a very steep drop off. If you weren't careful and made a wrong move or slipped on the loose sandy terrain, you could potentially fall to your death right there. Way too narrow for my taste. Not for people afraid of heights.

Nice little hike to do in the afternoon when the heat of the day starts fading (we visited mid-June). There isn't much to the first 2/3 of the hike, the Balconies Caves and Balconies themselves are fun though. Nevertheless, if you only can do one hike in Pinnacles, do one in the High Peaks/Condor Gulch instead.

Hike was better than I expected. Even though it is not a rain season, still pretty good waterfalls. Curiously my GPS showed roundtrip to be just under 15 miles. Not sure how to account for discrepancy.

Great hike and lunch spot at lake.

We planned to hike up to Crystal Lake but saw a sign up to the crest so we had to do it. It was well worth it. You can see many lakes in the area from the top. When you get toward the top you will see a trail to the left and onward to the top. A couple told us to keep going up to the crest and it loops at the top. You can see the back of half dome at the top. Beautiful hike!

Probably the most beautiful lake in the Desolation Wilderness area. The stark, granite landscape and the crisp, blue waters of the lake make for a breathtaking sight.
