Amazing views of Rainier! We hiked this 10/14 and the weather and visibility were perfect! We just went to first boroughs then down the sunrise rim trail which was just as awe inspiring. This east coast girl never hiked this altitude but had no issues whatsoever. I only wish my hiking partner was up for the entire trail. Highly recommend this hike. We got to Sunrise around 1030, plenty of parking, but the lodge is closed for the season. We stopped at a little gift shop outside of the park Wapiti Woolies for some souvenirs and hit the Naches Tavern across the street for a couple drinks, a bite to eat, and a round of pool. A completely perfect day

Great hike.. beautiful views! Thank you Jah. The reviews make it sound much worse (as far as the road goes). 10-15-18

Gorgeous hike all the way!!! Be prepared for unstable footing, lots of rocks but that doesn’t make it hard, just be-careful. Views all the way up it is a very open hike.

At mile 2 pay attention to the sign to turn right to follow the trail to Snow Lake. Once you hit the top You will go down to the lake, it is worth the half mile walk down to the lake.

10/15- Beautiful hike! Definitely some elevation gain, but the views are worth it. :) We did not encounter bugs, and the trail was not crowded. Autumn seems like the perfect time to hike the trail! The drive to the trailhead was a little rough; it adds a good amount of time to the commute.

Beautiful fall hike.

We started at 9am Saturday morning and reached the top at 11am. We recorded 6.4 totals (definitely not 4.8) but well worth it. Some of the rocks after halfway up were iced over, so just take your time! The view was amazing, but next time we will go for sunrise!

We hike a ton, but this was definitely a challenge. The first 2 miles were relentless switchbacks with no downhill or even flat relief. Needless to say, our legs are sore.

Be aware of potholes, drive carefully and arrive early for a parking spot. Did the hike on Saturday morning and some sections were very icy, I fell even with trekking poles and saw a lady fall hard luckily she was ok. Just be careful and take your time, some scrambling at the top but well worth it. The day was clear and gorgeous views of Baker and Rainier.

Very heavily trafficked, and slick in the lake basin, but over all very beautiful. Excellent trail maintenance and no snow yet.

Beautiful day on Saturday the 13th on the mountain. At the top there was some ice on boulders that was difficult to navigate, a lot of people fell and one hit his head on the rock pretty hard. Be careful, bring spikes and poles, but definitely check it out!

Very beautiful ! it was harder than I thought , especially it was no trail , muddy and rocks before we see the lake

Nice hike. Great payoff. Tracked it as 5.7 miles not 4.8. 3-4 hours total. Get there early.

As others have mentioned the hike to the falls is great, but afterwards it's not marked at all. I downloaded the GPX to my Garmin but it didn't seem to match the actual trail so wasn't much help. I reached a ridge line at the top of the falls but turned back b/c I couldn't tell if I was still on the trail or not. Trekking poles were useful to me on the more difficult parts.

Went there today. Very beautiful golden larch. Parking lot was full when I got there at 8:10. I had to park my car on the side.

Couple sites on the way to camp over night
Severe pot holes
Not much scenery on the way up
Great trail wide and well maintained

Loved this hike! Watched a proposal on top- the weather was amazing, view was great, go do it. Bring $30 cash or you will get a ticket. Good tires recommended as you must drive on a long and bumpy dirt road.

Like it!

This hike was amazing, the views we had of Mt Rainier were incredible. We started the hike around 7:30am, It is essentially just walking up 3 big hills. The weather was great, sunny with a few clouds near Rainier which moved away. The first two mountains we easy and direct, when we got to the bottom of the second there was a sign pointing left for Burroughs trail and right to frozen lake, it confused us a bit because we wanted to do the third burrough mountain so we just continued on up the third one, It did look a bit daunting but the views on the third mountain are the best! It took use about 3 hours out and back, we stopped a bit for pictures and to snack a bit. I recommend hiking early, there seemed to be allot of people starting their hikes at 10am-11 and this is when the clouds seemed to role in so they might of missed their chance for a good view. On the way back we saw a pack of mountain goats, and TONS of chipmunks.

This was our first hike in Washington during our vacay. We started at around 7:30am, the parking lot was pretty empty. The weather was great and the trail was dry so no chances of slipping on rocks. The trail was surprisingly easy, it might of been because we were really excited to start our week of multiple hikes. We ended up taking only 2 hours out and back to complete the hike. there is a good amount of rock scramble to the top, We stopped at the summit to eat and take photos but it was heavily trafficked going the way down. I suggest going earlier if you want to beat the crowds. I would recommend doing this hike! I also saw doggies the size of our roommates cat complete the hike so its deff dog friendly.

Beautiful hike!

Amazing views but seemed a little more difficult than a medium as most of the trail was uphill. Great payoff though.

The views were incredible! Different lakes, a lot of fall colors and a view on Mount Rainier even if it was cloudy.
The road to get there is pretty difficult : gravel road and a lot of potholes for about an hour.

Beautiful hike. Tons of people, but still had sections of quiet solitude. Golden larches against the snow were beautiful. Micro spikes were helpful for a quarter mile section.

This was a great hike with some great views when the clouds broke. Great shots of Rainier.

Literally one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done. Get there early to beat the crowds! We hiked up past the clouds and had an amazing view of mount baker AND mount rainier. We really lucked out :) the fire lookout is awesome and full of history. The hike itself is not that hard, took a little less than 2 hours to get up to the top.

Awesome hike, the road up was pretty wash-boarded. If you want to go all the way to the lake, bring micro-spikes -- the trail gets snowy/icey at the end

Amazing view!

Amazing hike. Only went to the second Burroughs but still totally worth it. Did the hike on 9/29 and even though the weather in Seattle was warm (low 70s) it was pretty chilly on the hike (low 50s). Also, I’m used to East Coast, low altitude hiking and even though I could feel a difference because of the altitude, it wasn’t too bad.

Beautiful -- this trail is gorgeous. Did this yesterday (10/6) and there was some light snow in the last mile. Slightly slippery and slushy in lots of places.
