Thanks for any advice !

Did this hike last summer- beautiful and well worth all the switchbacks!

The children and I love this dark hike through the lava tube! Everyone did well with their own headlamps, as the floor is quite uneven.

Great view of all volcano types. Good trail and grade.

Awesome trail. Not much shade or coverage. Beautiful scramble in the end.

Did this in 2016. Had to take an alternative route as the main trail was closed for renovations

Loved all of Lassen. Very alpine feel to the park.

Did Bumpass Hell too. How many places can you picnic near the summit of a dormant volcano?

they don't allow dogs?? I would want to be around the type of people that don't want dogs on the trail. aviod this area if you are looking to have a fun day.

Very easy hike. Amazing how dark it is inside. I love introducing people to the cave.

Awesome trail. Good up hill the way there. The lake is beautiful. I did it 2 weeks ago and the snow wasn't bad at all. A little here and there. The trail was pretty easy to stay on.

Enjoyable hike / walk with minor elevation changes and an amazing view of the valley. Highly recommended for families and hikes of all ages.

Consistent incline all the way up with views of Lake Helen. Recommend for the average hiker with breaks along the way!

A little icy going up and over today. Beautiful, beautiful.

No bugs on this trip. Great little side hike to the waterfall but no signs. Follow the previous posted map. Just fallow the little odd shoot trail through the meadow and then it goes up left and is the horse trail that follows the river upstream. Warm days and cold nights. Pretty lakes. Not much wildlife.

A great trail for any age! The altitude makes it tougher than I expected, but I saw kids and Middle Aged adults on the trail. The top has beautiful views and fun rock formations to boulder around. You can also get to the crater and walk inside, it was so neat! I highly recommend this trail!

10/14/2017 We started out at the Ranger Station at about 830 in the morning. Nice and Chilly. Two adults and a 5 almost 6 year old. The adults packed all in and the kiddo packed her own water and sleep wear. Just one over night at Lower Twin Lake. The hike itself wasn't horrible. It was easy to moderate the majority of the way. Minimal complaints from the young one going in. More going out as there are two good sizes grades coming back out. Short though. Overall the was good. Not too bad for a day hike or evening packing in for a few days. Camping for Upper and Lower Twin lakes are decent. The East side of the lakes are best and more flat. The west side not so much. Plus in the evening when it cools down you'll have the sun for warmth much later than the west side. Overall, it was beautiful.

A well-marked trail that offers beautiful views, varied terrain and a good opportunity to see the geothermal vents.

It was a great hike. It took me and my mom about over 3 hours to get to the top but that was with about an hour worth of resting along the way. It took only about 90 minutes to get hike back down. During the hike the trail is pretty close to some cliffs that drop off, so I would not bring any young kids if you don't want to be worried the whole time (unless your planning on carrying them). Hiking Lassen will be a great memory for me and my mom. Do it.

A little cold at the peak before sunrise, but well worth the awesome view and sunrise.

This trail is marked at 1.8 miles each way on the trail sign from Bumpass Hell. The 5.4 miles per this site seems a lot more accurate. We hiked on a warm August day and got a little dehydrated. I would recommend it but bring lots of water. The views along the way of wildflowers, springs and Crumbaugh Lake and Cold Boiling Lake were absolutely spectacular. Cold Boiling Lake itself as a destination was kind of underwhelming.

My husband and I hiked Bumpass Hell in August with our boys ages 10 and 13. It was a great out and back hike with views along the way and a great reward of the cool Bumpass Hell area. Bring water. There are bathrooms at the trail parking lot. We added the hike to Cold Boiling Lake which starts at the Bumpass Hell area.

Went last Saturday...a few tough stretches due to ice and snow, but worth it! Absolutely beautiful!

Incredible! I only did this trail because I wanted to climb a peak, any peak, and Lassen was convenient. Based on descriptions I'd read previously, I expected a boring and tedious hike. Not at all! The views from the very start are spectacular and just keep getting better. On the way back everything is different as you are facing the opposite way. Now I can't wait to go again in June or July, as early as I can. This time was October and the wind was brutal but exciting. Glad I had complete layers including gloves!

Very windy and very chilly! Start this hike early! We were fighting with daylight on the way back- but it was unlike anything we'd seen before. Cool views! It's harder to breathe at this elevation.

A unique trail and a great taste of what Lassen Volcanic has to offer! Great views the whole way through. Be careful on the edges! ;-)
