This was a challenging trail for someone with two new knees. The downhill portion was a bit wet and slippery and made me wish for walking sticks. The end of the trail was worth any amount of work. What a beautiful beach. Be sure to walk the entire beach and find the two waterfalls and an awesome “alcove”. Bring a garbage bag and take a few minutes to pick up some of the plastic that has washed ashore.

Caught this trail on a sunny winter day and it was perfect. I took the inland route straight up, which was wide and fairly straight, and full of old growth sitkas. I walked out to the lighthouse view and listened to the huge tides crashing below. Continued the loop down along the coastline and caught a number of different views of the sunset. Western trail was way more interesting with twists and turns and different vegetation. Highly recommend!

Wonderful trail, very pleasant. Hiked today with two dogs. There are two large muddy spots and a few small ones. The beach is almost empty.

Beware:
(1) No sign at the trailhead to indicate the trail name. Look for a wooden post with an arrow sign pointing left.
(2) The last step to the beach is ugly. Due to erosion it's about a 2' drop from the bottom of the wood steps onto sand.

There's a second trail further south along Crescent Beach that connects to the Cannon Beach trail. It probably adds 0.4 miles to the hike, but it's a much better option with dogs or young children and it makes for a pleasant loop.

Beautiful densely forested hike with occasional stunning views of the ocean. We went up the Eastern side of the hike which followed a creek for part of the way then traveled along ferns and spruce (some impressively large!); steep, wide, and even. Stopped to go out to the viewpoint of the lighthouse at Hiker's Camp; definitely recommend. The Western side was much rougher and narrower with several downed trees over the trail and some slick muddy parts. Towards the end there were several show stopping views of Indian Beach and even Haystack Rock in the distance. Indian beach was the perfect after-hike hangout to eat our lunch. We hiked with a baby and toddler and had a great time. (Note! the trail down to Indian beach had very large driftwood logs piled up at the base and required some climbing; tricky but doable with the kids)

Perfect hike with gorgeous blue water at the end! Worth it!

Unique terrain created by the 80's eruption makes this a short and sweet loop hike.

Family favorite short and very scenic hike in the Mt. Rainier National Park.

Beautiful! It was pretty muddy towards the beginning of the trailhead and the middle. Me being miss grace tripped right out at the beginning and covered my pants and shoes in mud. Well worth it! It was a gorgeous hike with the best of both worlds. Lots of trees and lush green but also stunning beach.

If you visit it, please don't destroy it. Please preserve it.

Be prepared to get wet if you go in the winter! The falls were incredible. It was a very easy hike and took us about an hour to get there, take in the falls and relax a bit, and get back to our car. Some tourists in running shoes and umbrellas managed it just fine, too!

Beautiful walk.

Loved this trail. We hiked it in June 2018. the waterfall near boulder cave is great and so much fun to climb around.

Graveled path for most of the way and beautiful forest.

we came in from hwy 12 ..the gate was closed but we decided to hike imto the campground and visitors center.. beautiful hike all the same.. ..there was no snow on the roads up to the gate....there was snow inside the gate but tire tracks left perfect snow free spots to follow all the way in.

Very easy trail that meanders along a river and a smaller stream. Last few hundred feet to the waterfall are very steep and require a climb up a few dozen stairs. However, the end experience is well worth the effort.

Beautiful and muddy!!

A pleasant 3-mile walk on a picturesque beach.

Hiked this one with my mom a few years ago, and it was really enjoyable. The trees are absolutely enormous, makes you feel so small!

Somewhat muddy after the rain. But the view was worth the trek.

Nice easy trail if you want to get away from the crowds at Cannon Beach.

Easy hike with great views. Go early - before 8am for least crowds, good light and a run.

Super fun trail run. Big beautiful old growth trees and well groomed pathways. Perfect family or relaxing trails. Make sure to take the detour to the Crescent Lake Lodge!

First, the directions through this app are wrong. It took me to a closed road. I found the trail by accident. It's right past Coldwater lake, on the left, right before the gate that they close to Johnston Ridge. Huge parking lot and no bathroom. There were 2 other cars in the lot but we didn't see anyone on the trail. Great views of Mt. St. Helens.

Great views. Perfect for a hike with the pups.

Fun short hike for a family or group looking for something easy. Old growth trees are spectacular and there's a fun suspension bridge that crosses over a stream. The old NPS interpretation signs from the 70s are a bit over the top and probably due for removal, but otherwise this is a fun, easy trail if you have a group looking for a relaxed adventure.

Amazing trees.

This hike is special. It’s All downhill from the parking lot to the beach. Steep in areas but nothing too challenging. The beach was sparsely populated. We relaxed on the beach before hiking back up to catch the sunset from the top. Just a phenomenal place to watch the sunset.
