First hike for the Six Pack of Peaks challenge and I loved it. Went on a Wednesday and only saw 3 people the entire hike. The trailhead to go back down is kinda hidden, once you are in big parking lot look to the right. Would for sure do again!

Amazing hike! Like the others - it was definitely tough (made harder by hauling up a pack) and totally worth it. You really get the bang for your buck on this hike - every part is beautiful. We started later than we had initially wanted (4pm) and got to the summit in 3.5 hours. Since we came that late in the day there was plenty of parking in the lot.

There is a stream a couple miles in that comes right out of the side of the mountain that many folks filled their water at - had I known I would have carried less water the first couple miles and filled up there to make better time (I think it's about 2 miles in?). When we got to the summit there were about 10 other tents scattered around. We were still able to get a spectacular spot overlooking the valley and although we were camped among a bunch of other folks, it still felt pretty remote. I would definitely do this hike again. I don't normally hike with trekking poles (I wear patellar supports), but am considering purchasing some as the downhill was a bit intense with a pack.

No waterfall and currently there is a foul smell where the waterfall is located. I suggest coming back after it rains, usually this is a nice hike.

A little sore on the ankles but well worth it!

Great hike with some awesome views

Great hike, long but pretty easy. You have to cross lots of streams so be prepared to get a bit wet. Totally worth it. Remember to get your adventure pass.

I’m just starting to get into the world of hiking & camping, this was the first trail on my list & I really enjoyed it! I decided to go in the late afternoon (started hiking around 5) & enjoyed really nice shady areas & beautiful views of the mountains during the second half of the hike. There’s a ton of beautiful greenery & wild flowers/plants, & also ran into a few lizards along the way. The inclines & declines are nothing to be worried about, just be prepared to take a bunch of pictures. I recommend taking the narrow road down towards the larger parking lot, as the incline up after you’re done would be a brutal trek to your car. As a beginner, this hike was nothing too difficult. I will definitely come visit this trail again soon!

Great hike last nite and way to step into my birthday..As I keep doing this hike weekly, I definitely feel a positive difference in my body and mind and its conditioning me to level up with ease onto longer and higher altitude trails.

This hike gave us the biggest challenge so far. Made it to the bridge and back in over 4 hours or maybe 5 lol... it was well worth it. Beautiful scenery to and from. Good a$$ kicking hike. Will have to do it again.

Really good hike, scenery and foliage was nicer than I expected. Falls were more of a trickle at this time of year, but still lovely. Downhill on the way in, back up to get out. Dogs loved it-- If your dog is not agile they will not be able to get down to the waterfall. We started at 0630 and were back to the car at 0830, didn't see any other people until we were almost back to the car.

I did this yesterday and it was very enjoyable. First the parking was super packed at 9:30am already. I did I two round in the lots then I was trying to find on the road and there was a nice guy pointing at his car that he’s leaving! Thank you sir!!

Anyway if I didn’t know about the trail, I would be sure to get lost. So you should check where the trail sprit. And like everyone said here it’s not 12 miles. It’s more like 16miles. (My phone die on the way coming down, so there is no accuracy but I was glad that I made it to parking lot) Last couple of miles going up was tough. I kept stopping and looking up when this uphill/switchback end.

I finished my entire 1.5l water going up so make sure you have enough water and snack to refill.
Cosmic cafe save my life on summit.

Going down from summit was confusing. There is no sign going down. I had to walk around the parking lot and observatory gate. There is a trail in the middle of parking lot. But again no sign!

Downhill was easy but sandy and easy to slide so be careful. At the white creek ? Trail sprit and I had no strength to go uphill at the beginning of trail, so I went right to chantry flat for another 3 miles.

Going up and down, there is plenty of gnat and mosquitoes. Be sure to spray bug spray everywhere and I saw a sign that there is a bear so maybe bring a bear bell.

I saw a deer family running by me and looking at me so it was a delightful moment and that it self made my day.

Water fall is empty at times but a great short trail.

A quick getaway hike that is easy to get to. Counterclockwise for the view at the end. Clockwise for a bit more cardio.

Fun hike.... Holy Fire was really affecting the air quaility, made it a little bit harder.... last mile is killer. Met an awesome group of hikers at the summit as well

Great hike. I was tempted to take a star off for the amount of fellow hikers. My friend and I were slow, so we were constantly moving to the side to let others pass (our problem, not theirs). However, the hike itself is worth five stars. The "destination" at the end was fun and the views were great. We started at about 6:45 am and were in shade most of the time, which was wonderful in the SoCal summer.

Great hike.My Wife and I are in pretty good shape and got in a seriously good work out. Saw Hollywood sign from top and bottom. Both incredible views. Bring plenty of water. The water spouts along the way were not working, they look like old pipes that are probably unreliable. There are an incredible amount of intersections on this trail. There is even a 5 point intersection.I used my all trails pro gps app and just tracked ourselves and checked at various points along the way.Its a good thing I did because some trails do not reconnect with each other and you will end up in a different area of the park! No shade but amazing breeze.Plenty of free parking.

Great hike for training. Doing Mt. Whitney in a couple of weeks and the consistent above 8K ft. helps.

Awesome workout. Pretty steep and rocky at times but the views are amazing. Worth the pain

I love this....

BRING LOTS OF WATER!!

Did this trail over the weekend and first off, it is closer to 11 miles round trip, not 9. Each person should have at least 3 liters of water. This trail is an easy trail, very slight elevation increase the entire way. It is however a long trail, so if you're not used to hiking 10+ miles, be ready.

The trail is pretty great, pay attention and you can see old pieces of road throughout the hike, yes, they are covered in dirt but once you notice and realize there was once a road the entire way you start seeing it all over.

Start early, the path going out isn't bad because of the position of the sun, you'll get morning shade most of the way. Coming back though, it's direct sun almost the entire path.

Once you make it to the bridge you can cross the bridge and go to the bottom. We sat there and ate lunch with our feet in the stream, it's pretty awesome down there at the bottom.

The earlier you get here, the better the parking will be. The lot fills up early, we got here at 7:30 and had to park about 1/3rd of a mile down the road. Also, buy a parking pass in advance, they are $5 for a day pass or $30 for a year pass. It's good at 4 local parks and is a parking hangtag, so just get the annual pass. I got mine at Big 5 but they're sold all over.

There is about 5 water crossings each way. In the summer you can probably skip rocks to cross each time, if there has been any recent rain you will get wet crossing the stream.

Lastly, check the weather report, if there is a chance of rain I'd stay away from this path. You're hiking in a ravine and this path does regularly have flash floods. People die on this trail from being trapped in flash floods. I came across one cross where someone had died on the trail.

I would definitely do this hike again.

the trail was great not much water but still a great view and great pictures. but like everyone says the last part of the hike is all up hill to get back to your car so defiantly prepare for a work out

Great trail, well constructed and maintained. A push for this 71 yr old

There’s no marked parking area. You have to park on the highway and walk about 1.5 miles on a paved road before you even get to the trail. There is trash littered everywhere. Almost all the bigger rocks have been tagged-kids suck. The trails are marked with blue/green/red paint which is somewhat helpful if you ignore the colors and just follow the markings. I took my dogs with me and they played in the water a bit but they smelled like a sewer when we got home.

love it up here. be advised, 2 bear sightings a mile apart. 8-5-2018. 10:30pm Mt baldy Rd. first was at the Mt baldy rest area.

wish I could post a picture. looks horrible. the lake Elsinore area fire has peaks covered in smoke. check out 10064ft.com cam footage.

Awesome hike! Started at sunrise to beat some of the heat. The parking lot was already 3/4th full. Get there early! Loved the trail and the sound of the wind through the trees. I recommend Trekking Poles especially for parts going down hill. Parts are rocky and have some loose gravel. If you are steady on your feet you will be fine. Take lots of water and suncreen. Awesome views at the top! I will hike this again!

California has been going through a drought and this summer has been one of the hottest summers I’ve ever experienced. The waterfall has lost its heavy and pleasant flow.

great trail but careful - I almost stepped on a rattlesnake (Southern Pacific Rattlesnake from doing some research) there today!! Was down by the river about 3 miles in. It was just under a fallen tree trunk about a foot off the ground that I was walking on - from the path to the river.

Good hike given the proximity to LA.

Nice but hot in summer.
Across the river 4-5 times, you could make it without wet..I did. Took 5 hours.
