A good trip, trail is steep but fairly short and the views are nice. It was also fun to rummage in the tailings of the old mine in the ghost town down below.

We were amazed by the clear blue waters of the river not to mention the beauty of Sahalie Falls. We absolutely loved it!! We definitely would hike it again next time we are in the area. :)

New route to Butte Creek Falls (courtesy of ODF):
- Drive to Scotts Mills, Oregon

- In downtown Scotts Mills, near the post office, turn left (east) onto Maple Grove Road

- From Maple Grove Road, turn south onto Sawtell Road until you reach the end of the pavement which will then turn briefly to Family Camp Road and then to the Butte Creek Mainline

Fantastic hike with one amazing falls after another.

Exquisite and idyllic!

This was an easy hike with gorgeous waterfalls. It can get crowded, especially at the falls that are less than a mile from the trailhead, but the farther away from the trailhead I got the less people I saw.

Definitely steep but worth it! Be prepared for stone stairs at the top. I’m more out of shape so it took me a few rests any my trekking poles. Well maintained and a great Saturday activity.

Great trail! I took my dog with me and she loved it! The best part was the part leading up to the creek. Its so beautiful out there! I will definitely be returning.

This hike is great! Amazing views:) including the cave, the round trip was 6 miles.

Amazing views! Difficult trail is a lot of fun and has great scenery, easy trail has nice flat surfaces and plenty of stairs.

Hiked this trail on Sunday 9/9/18. Started about 2:00 pm and went counter clockwise. Clocked over 9 miles and 1400 feet of elevation gain. The falls are amazing, though a few were dry. Not as many people in the afternoon and going that direction. Make sure you have your Trail app on because some of the trail has no signage. Very well maintained hike with a push toward the end up switchback stairs. Will be back in spring when the water is higher!

My boyfriend and I did this trail a month ago and it was a simple trail till you got trying trail to get down to the pool. My boyfriend and I had a blast finding it but is difficult to find. I would highly recommend this pool it’s so beautiful and so worth the hike.

Drive out on one lane road was tricky. But well worth it. Trail was easy. Nice waterfall.

Beautiful view, amazing sunset from the peak if you camp. Cave adds a nice side adventure and interesting walk through the burn.

This was a beautiful run to do, definitely stopped a few times to take in the sites, going counterclockwise around the loop, you get the gradual climb done first and then you have a gradual downhill and steep uphill to finish on.

beautiful hike, we ended up doing 10 miles by the time we got back to the car to make sure we saw everything we came to see.

This is an excellent hike with so many beautiful views. Make sure you fill out the paper in the little box at the trail head (northwest forest pass) and keeping your copy on you as you hike...we got stopped on the trail by someone with the forestry service that asked for it. You can be fined if you don’t. The hike was very dusty but so many different terrains and great views I didn’t care. I did bring extra water which was helpful. The cave was not super hard to find, you have to go downhill through the burnt forest and around to the left. Pretty much follow the foot prints. Also this app is amazing and if you open the map somewhere you have phone signal and leave it open you can use it even if you don’t have signal. It will show you as a blue dot and you can “follow the red line” to your destination. I’m surprised how many people use this app and don’t know that. So many photo opportunities it is a great hike. You will get your heart rate up a bit in some parts of this.

this was such a fun trail dispite the fact that the opal pools were not quite as impressive as I was lead to believe. still very pretty. nice easy trail. the kids gave up about mile 4 though so unless you got some energetic kids with some hiking enthusiasm I wouldn't recommend it. jawbone flats is pretty cool I had no idea that was there. the path is mostly gravel road except for 1.3 miles that is good trail type trail. lots and lots of huckleberries this time of year.

little effort for large reward. the walk is easy, a few uneven rocky sections but nothing bad and the pool is awesome. started early and was nice and quiet but got busy on the way out.

Easy, scenic hike with a massive payoff at the end.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!
Winter Falls and Double Falls are both dry at the moment, so unless there’s a bit of rain soon, probably not worth the trip - but even with the falls a bit drier, and having a lighter flow, I would highly recommend this. It’s not too difficult but it’s absolutely beautiful. It took me about 4 hours all up to do the loop, and I was taking my sweet time.
I did the loop counterclockwise (aka South Falls last) which I was happy with - except between South Falls and Lower South Falls there’s about 180 steps... that’s hard to get up after already clocking in a few miles haha. Barely saw anyone going that way for whatever reason - I barely saw anyone at all really. Early September, on a Thursday in the middle of the day... apparently a pretty quiet time for the trail ha!

This is a cute hike with lots to see at the beginning of the trail. The trail up follows the river at your right then you make your way up a rocky path to the top. Do yourself a favor and make a conscious effort to avoid stepping on the jagged rocks on your way up the path.

I wish that I had a bit more time to make my way down to the pool, next time for sure. That blue in the pool is just impressive. This is a must see.

Super easy hike gate is closed but only open to hikers stay to the left of the trail to get to the falls great view only saw 2 hikers when we were there

Nice easy going hike in and out, could not believe how gorgeous the water was! I’ve been talking about going to see this wonder for a couple of years and was finally able to see what the hubbub was about. Well worth the effort to get to the pool and experience how truly cold that water is. Loved It!

The path to the trailhead is open through the campground. (I discovered this only after I hiked down) The path down is two miles on a very well maintained road.

The lower falls lookout is a bit insane. You'll see. If you have small children I'd highly recommend avoiding the lower falls lookout, just stay on the path.

The upper falls trail is wonderful. This is a great place to go with the entire family. If you have someone that needs assistance on the path watch out for the rocks at the base of the trail, they're very slippery.

Hike itself was really easy and boring, but the scenery is spectacular.

I loved this trip! Made it this weekend with my dog. People at the trailhead seem worried about finding the cave, but don’t fret! Is pretty easy to find, especially with other people there. First you should go up to the peak. Right before you get there, you’ll see a campsite to the left. That’s where the cave trail is. Keep going straight to the peak.

After that, head back to the Boca trail and follow that. There’s a patch of now burned forest going downhill. Go downhill. Some people tried to go straight and up, but that’s wrong. Follow the footprints down and to the left, you’ll encounter some jagged rocks, and the trail pretty much shows you the way from there.

Really beautiful up there yesterday! I’d go early because it can get a little busy and there isn’t a lot of room to pass hikers going the other way. Finding the cave can be a little tricky, but we had luck following the footprints in the dirt.
