Even with the heavy smoke, this is an amazing hike! Super diverse and not very hard at all. Could have stayed in the meadows and the lookout all day long. Will definitely be back in early fall

Amazing view!! Worth to hike again!!

Such a great hike. The road was bumpy but just fine.
The trails has it all Forest, meadows, Waterfalls, Creeks, Small mountain lakes, and lots of wildlife.

Spectacular!!!! There was smoke from the fires but none the less excellent hiking... 8/9/18

Fantastic hike with challenging elevation, well worth with 360 view at the top

A beautiful easy hike. We only made it to Maple Grove campground which is about a 4 mile nice relatively flat hike great for a day trip. I can't wait to go back and camp there.

Beautiful hike. Accessible for our 6 and 4 y.o. boys. Our only regret was that the pond is not accessible from the trail.

Amazing hike however the road to get to the trail head is awful! SOOO many potholes and was really hard on our little rental car. Once you get to the trail head however it was a really good hike. Would Recommend.

We camped down the hill at boulder creek and decided to do this hike, it was well worth it and very pretty from the top, we had clear sky and amazing views of baker. On the way down my hiking partner fell and hurt her knee. When I stopped to preform first aid (road rash with rocks in the wound) multiple people came to offer help, which was pretty awesome to see. On our way down some hikers gave us some peanuts to feed some birds and we got to see a lot of dogs on the way down, so my injured partner still had a great time and both of us were shocked by all the friendly caring people on the trails that day. We both can’t wait to go back and explore some more up here. It sure is beautiful!

Very good hike with enough elevation gain to be challenging but still manageable. The view from the lookout afforded pretty amazing views in all directions. The one drawback today was the available views were a bit diminished in clarity by haze from forest fires. Bugs were annoying but not dreadful on the lower reaches of the trail.

Hike really beautiful but a portion of trail overgrown, full if bandit trails which you can easily to get lost and some parts are dangerous. This hike made me almost uninstall this app.

Car got broken into at the trailhead camping for one night. Good one night backpacking trip but not worth it if your car is gonna get broken into.

July 19, 2018: This is a nice walk but leaves you feeling like you should have gotten more bang for your buck. We did about six hours on the trail with an 11- and 13-year old, covering about 16-17 km round trip. Overall the trail is fairly flat, but I rolled my ankle a couple of times on rocks or roots—we were wearing running shoes. At the beginning the trail seems like it had a lot of potential as the river is near by, but after the 4th of July trail turn off, the trail stays under the canopy of trees and out of view of the river, although you can hear it. About 6-7 km in, there’s a couple views of the mountains overhead. The variety of plants is outstanding, but there was rarely a peep from birds. The little streams you cross along the way are nice and provide a great place to stop and enjoy a sandwich. My wife thinks we should have taken 4th of July as the park trail pamphlet suggests that it is the trail with the views.

absolutely gorgeous! very peaceful. heads up that people break into cars here... we saw evidence of that today. :(

If anyone sees an Orange REI rainfly laying around on the road somewhere please contact me at cranswic@hawaii.edu... lost on July 24th

The hike was GREAT! Totally gets your blood pumping and then the views take your breath away!

My favorite hike in WA! Bring bug spray and get there a little early to get a good parking spot.

Easy hike out to Monte Cristo, gets a little tough after that. Absolutely beautiful the whole way, but there were lots of flies.

the most epic hike I have ever done!!!!

Excellent view. Pleasant weather. Right time to go.

Awesome trail! It is rated correct as hard. It’s no so much the length of the trail as much as it’s the up and up and up some more. There plenty of water on the trail and snow. I found it was easier to cross the 4 snow packs with my crampons as my knee was not liking the unstable surface. Views were AMAZING! Lots of wild flowers and water falls. You will not be alone I. This trail for long. It is very busy but not over crowded. Parking is a problem if your not there by 8 a.m. at the latest. In the way down cars were parked for a half mile making the already super narrow road worse. Enjoy the hike, take pics

trail running

As a beginner to running I found the hills challenging but the trail was paved and simple for me to follow. Great views.

Loved this fun and challenging (for us) family hike. Views were amazing.

Nice wooded walk. But not a whole lot to see. We were going to go up 4th of July but visibility was poor so we did this instead

Awesome trail! The views from the lookout are breathtaking. Just make sure to get to the TH before 0800. Parking is very limited. We luckily squeezed into a spot, but by the time we left, cars were lined up along the side of the road (extremely close to a steep ledge as well) for at least half a mile. Besides the parking, it is a great, diverse hike! Would love to go back and be the lucky one to snag the lookout for the night.

Went on July 9th 2018. Lots of snow still and very slippery. Never did find the lake and assume it was still covered in snow. Very beautiful though! We want to return later in the summer for sure.
Lost the trail many times because of the snow.
The tree that is down over the road mentioned by other reviews is passable by driving down into the ditch and under the huge tree. Did it with my 2WD Ford Focus no problems. Also saw a regular pick up truck fit under it as well but it was tight.

did this hike mid week on a cloudy day. Didnt run into too many people on the ascent. Only a bit of snow as you cross the meadows but it was easy enough to find the trail. we arrived at the look out at about 1pm. There were a handful of others at the lookout a bit earlier and left. We had the lookout to ourselves for a good two hours before the next group showed up. It got fairly busy around 3pm with other hikers. On the way back down it was quite foggy and cloudy which made crossing the snowy meadow a little more challenging but since we were retracing our steps from the morning it wasn't too bad.

Gorgeous view on a sunny day! Went early to beat the heat and parking was no problem.

We ended going up against trend and climbing up the cliffs. It’s a good workout (ended up with 44 flights on my fit bit) but still enjoyed ourselves. Hiked with a canine companion who loved the beach and did great on the trail.

I would totally do this again to enjoy that view and the wildflowers.

Beautiful woodsy and easy hike! I loved the river spot! Sometimes you just don't want to climb 3,000 feet!
