Beautiful hike east to the Quarry and then around to the west loop. Water was crystal clear and high. We went early and saw no one until leaving the trail. We loved all the bridges. The trail was well maintained. Perfect for families!

Loved this trail. Great scenery. Walked along a creek for quite a bit and over at least half a dozen bridges. Only draw back was a guy w 4 noisy kids. Nice sized parking lot.

My uncle and I circumvented the trail surrounding Fort Mountain State Park in a little over 5 hours. The trail is well-maintained and several of the views are spectacular, I hear. We were among the clouds during our hike and although the vistas were not available to us the scenery and foliage was and it is tremendous.

Hiked to the Quarry and back. Trail is easily identified and well maintained. We live in the area and it rained a good bit a few days prior, however the trails were in great shape. The Quarry is awesome!

This trail has some very nice views. The view of the falls and the water is nice, as is the sight of the sun filtering through the trees. It's not long, but it is a bit steeper. There are numerous roots on the ground, so make sure to watch your step. The path is a bit narrow, and it can be a bit of a drop if you slip off. The water keeps everything damp and somewhat wet, and there are a few particularly steep sections that may be unstable. I fell just before the first overlook because the ground was muddy and gave way despite it not having rained there in a few days. Despite that, it is a very nice trip, and the bridge is fantastic.

We did the west loop. The rock quarry pond is on the east loop. We will see it next time.

I love this trail. It has a streams, waterfalls and gorgeous mountain views. My favorite hike in Georgia.

Wonderful trail! The rock quarry is beautiful and peaceful and there are several great spots with easy access to the creek where the dogs love to play! I was a little disappointed that the top of the west loop is so grown up right now that you can’t see the summit views at the bench. The wildflowers and pretty fall colors still made it worth it :)

Fun quick trail to Waterfall with my Wife.

Good trail for hikers and dogs. Once you get out of parking lot area not many people. A few “water crossings” not really water crossings but water on ground is great for dogs. Added miles making it an 11 mile loop in four hours. There was good up and down making it a great workout. Lots of fallen leaves at moment which did make it hard to see slippery rocks so watch footing.

More of a walk

We started the trip from our camp site which added about a mile in length. The true beginning of the trail starts at a parking lot going to your right. If all you care to see if the lookout then it is at the end of the trail to your left about 50 yards. The trail was difficult at the beginning and end with many steep inclines. I would not recommend this trail for children or dogs. There are many spots in the trail that are very narrow and you have to cross water a couple of times. There are a few spots to stop with benches and many areas with large bolders where we stopped to have lunch. Our trip took about 6.5 hours with a total of 9.4 miles. Overall I would recommend this trail especially this time of year with the leaves changing color.

Nice short trail with beautiful views. Careful of the rock and roots everywhere on the trail

Great stroll around Red Top with views of Allatoona Lake. It’s more like 5.5 miles total.

Great trail. I liked the figure 8 route. Many different options. The pond is beautiful. We saw a lot of fish and a turtle. Although the parking lot was full, we only saw two people on the trails. This is definitely a trail we will return to.

Not enough to see for such a long hike.

Nice hike, did the west and east loop but somehow could not find the quarry. Guess that will give me a reason to go back and do it again.

I've been hiking this trail 2 to 3 times a month for the last five or six years. Winter, spring, summer, and fall I keep coming back.It helps keep you in shape for other more difficult hies but it is best used to get some alone time. I go during the week and often times can hike the whole way without encountering another soul.
My dog has been along on most every hike and knows her way around without hesitation. I love hiking in north Ga. but this one is home!

Went on a Tuesday around 5pm, there was only one car in the parking lot and we passed that one person at the very beginning of the trek. We only did the west loop because it would've gotten close to dark if we had done both loops. The west loop has great up and down's and it's nice to be up on the Ridgeline. There was a huge tree down in the train and lots of overgrowth so carry a stick to knock down all of the cobwebs because you're going to walk into ALOT of them, but you're outside and it's lightly trafficked so it's to be expected. Really loved this trail and can't wait to come back and see the east loop with the quarry. Also, can't wait for the leaves to change because it's going to be gorgeous. It's only 40 minutes from my house and will be well worth coming back several more times.

Me and Halle ( my Cocker Spaniel ) love this hiking trail in the summer. It’s very shaded and much cooler than most and easy access to the Lake. She loves swimming.

Great, easy, a little rugged trail. Narrow at times but beautiful! Wonderful staff in ranger station. Beautiful summit at ranger/welcome center. Very educational center.

One of the best hikes I have ever done.
The trail is some what easy with some small inclinations. Its basically a 3.5 mile loop with 2 mile extension. Half way is scenic with lake on one side. You can enjoy the small beaches alongside the trail. We have covered the adjacent Sweet Gum Trail and this one in one stretch.

Has everything and you don’t have to walk a marathon to do it. We fished, hiked, saw bridges and waterfalls all in 1.3 Miles . Views too!

Awesome change of scenenry along a short 8 miles! It was more difficult than I expected....but I based my expectation off of the State Park Trail Map. It had the completion time for the 1.2 mile flat gravel trail around the lake at 1 hour. It had the completion time for the Gahuti trail at 5 hrs for 8 miles...it actually took me 5 full hours. Lots of ups and downs. I saw a lot of squirrels and a family of raccoons. The lake trail and the wall trail are not actually part of the g
Gahuti but I did those as well. When you are in this park it doesn't feel like you are in the mountains at all...untill you get to the overlooks! Reminded me of the Cloudland Canyon west rim trail.

Just hiked yesterday with my hubby and dog. we arrived at 12:30 in the afternoon and the trailhead was nearly empty. This hike is beautiful with tons of wildflowers and the quarry is very peaceful. It is also a beautiful fall hike. a great hidden gem :) The trail says 4.2 but my GPS said 4.7 when we finished.
