Exactly what you’d be expecting for a moderate loop hike. It was a good time! Well maintained — just watch the trees for the yellow markers and your good to go. Second half of the hike you can’t see the water at all, but if you did the loop backwards there’s a very steep gravel hill that you probably don’t want to go down, so I’d stick with going the regular route. If I could go back, I would go the regular route to the lookout point and then then around and go back on the same path. Same distance as the entire trail would be, but you get the view the entire time.

Took a little less than 2 hours and we did it in the morning, finishing at 11am, which was really nice because the sun wasn’t beating down and the trees provided the shade.

Also super nice that it’s so close to the visitor’s center to use the restroom, cool down, and fill up with water when you’re done.

Great trail!
Start early.

An excellent hiking trail with something interesting to see almost the entire way. I took the Grotto leg of the trail first which meant climbing out the Natural Bridge leg at the end. I think it would have been easier doing the reverse. Overall, a very enjoyable trail that can be very taxing depending on what shape you are in. Take plenty of water and snacks.

This is a beautiful hike with 2-4 service road exits. Be sure to wear hiking shoes or boots. The terrain is Rocky. Walking poles would be helpful also. There are several lake view spots. The last time we hiked here we saw 3 Young bucks. It took us 2 hours to complete the 4 mile loop.

I have done this trail several times. It is really easy going down, but a little strenuous on the way back up.

LEGENDARY hike! Running trails, waterfalls, bridges, rock climbing, exploring... Its got it all!

The rock climbing and exploring is top notch!

Great hike! Beautiful, following stream and end at waterfall. I would say it's between easy and moderate for a seasoned hiker. Lots of rocks so watch your footing. Total round trip time was 1 hour.

I absolutely loved this trail. I completed it after climbing the summit trail at Nebo, so I was exhausted by the end. I recommend making this a one trail day trip...so many beautiful streams and cliffs. Also, make sure you empty your bladder before you go because you hear running water almost the entire time.

Gorgeous trail, a little more taxing than what I expected. Should have brought a little more than one small bottle of water. Trails are clearly marked, and The Grotto/waterfall was gorgeous, and the waterfall was so cold and refreshing. There was no cell service the entire time, so just something to keep in mind. The round trip loop with a stop/splash at the Grotto took about 2 1/2 hours.

amazing few. deffiniately not an easy trail. take your time, bring lots of water, and maybe an extra bottle for someone already ng the way

Very fun and warm afternoon. The hike is mostly shaded with a very well maintained and well marked trail. The trail is moderate but may be hard for anyone with knee issues as a lot of the trail consists of rock making a staircase.
The trail starts at Mather Lodge, we parked in the parking lot, used the nice bathrooms in the lodge and then started the hike. We did take an offshoot trail marked bear caves which extended the hike a bit. It took us one hour to get to the falls and back. There are nice rocks by the falls to have a picnic or rest for awhile.
We didn’t see any snakes but when we got back to the trailhead a woman spotted a snake and screamed, we were happy to be done with the trail at that point.

We hiked this trail last weekend. It is by far one of my favorites. So many beautiful views even in the middle of summer. There was just enough challenge without being too hard. I don’t recommend bringing pets or young children to this one but is absolutely AMAZING!

By far my favorite state park and mountain. This is a beautiful hike with amazing views and plenty of wildlife to see. I suggest taking plenty of water and protein snacks if you plan to complete the entire 18 miles. Some may find areas a bit strenuous but over all a easy day long hike. Enjoy

I drove down from Memphis in hopes of getting close to the waterfall. I was led to a trail start that overlooked a valley where I could only hear the waterfall, but there was no visible way down to get close to the fall. I heard what sounded like people below who were possibly hiking to the fall, but no one seemed to know how to get to where they were. I was quite disappointed. I saved up and planned for this trip and saw nothing related to a waterfall.

I did this hike with my 11yr old son and we really enjoyed it. The trail is nice and shaded for the most part. The highlight is obviously the waterfall and even though it wasn't gushing, it was still beautiful. We spent some time just enjoying that area and taking pics before returning. Be prepared to scramble over some large rocks if you want to get closer to the waterfall. The return is steep at the end as you travel up several switch backs to get back to the lodge where the trail begins. It was steep but not that bad for us. I think we stopped maybe once for a drink of water. I could see it being more troublesome for people with knee or other joint issues. The hike took us a total of 1.5 hours including time hanging out at the waterfall. Great hike and I would love to return sometime after some rain.

Nice trail marked very well. scenic views and cool caves. creek and waterfall was dry due to lack of rain though. Will return in fall for fall colors. Gradual inclines but still a great workout!

Trail is well maintained and marked. Connects to multiple overlooks and bluffs with rest areas and trash disposal. Views are gorgeous. Well worth the hike.

Moderately easy trail. Some spots the trail is overgrown and gets narrow. Would recommend bug spray to keep the ticks off in the overgrown areas. We jumped on the Cabin Trail from the gift shop back to the trailhead.

As everyone said. The waterfall is gorgeous. The stairs back up are brutal.

Great view of waterfall! The walk down is easy. However, on the trip back up the last part will get your heart pumping!

Difficult trail, tons of steep climbing and switchbacks. No really pretty scenic views, but the trail itself is pretty.

Great trail! Beautiful views! Loved it!

beautiful hike! didnt see one person the entire way. bring a TON of water, sunscreen, and light clothing. i hiked this trail around 3pm and the sun and heat was almost unbearable. not a good first time hike and not for unexperienced hikers.

A keeper, but with caveats. First, I suggest reversing the trail, starting at Cove Lake. (The trailhead is almost directly across from the Cove Lake entrance. If you do not want to pay the $5 fee for parking at the lake, there is room for two cars to park next to the trailhead.) Reasons to reverse the trail: its becomes up-down and you end up at the lake. The trail is 12+ miles one way. (I hiked only 4+ miles in.) Not a spectacular trail (at least the first 4 miles), but enjoyable.

My husband and I (50+) enjoyed our time on this trail. It was a good cardio/leg workout. We saw a mother deer and her two foal, and a snake. It was lying atop a mossy rock right after the overlook. It was the same color green.
The difference between the tornado ravaged area and the untouched area was varied.
This was a long hike that provided beautiful and varied scenic looks.
