Not gonna lie, this trail is tough. Deserves the hard rating. The description says the trail is 6.6 miles, but my tracker says it was 8.8 miles. It’s not a loop trail, you go up the same way you come down. The initial descent is easy, but it was completely uphill on the way back. I felt like it would never end and we would never get there. Make sure you bring more than enough water. I brought a filled 17 oz bottle and four regular sized water bottles, and that wasn’t enough. I would bring 6-8 bottles. The elevation gain is intense on the way back up. You should probably be in fairly good shape to hike this trail. I would go in the fall because it was really hot during the summer. Also, wear bug spray. Bugs are flying around you just about every second you’re hiking. And while going down the trail you walk into spiderwebs pretty much the whole time. Some of it is overgrown, so I’d be sure to check yourself and others for ticks when you get done. The views were decent, but not the best. It was just an okay hike, not really worth it in my opinion.

Great trail! Section along the river is far better than the rim overlooking it. If you like waterfalls, rivers, cool rock formations, you will love this one. If not, why are you hiking?

Nice trail for the kids to enjoy creek play. Watch out for snakes! After a heavy rain the creek is harder to navigate and you should always wear shoes you don’t mind wading in. Deep spots along cliff walls, near the back of the trail by the no trespassing sign is a nice swimming hole. Not overly strenuous but could be hard for youngsters or older folks to safely balance on some of the rocks.

great trail. return trip kicks your ass. take your time it's all up hill

Me and my wife took this trail with our 14 week old puppy and she loved it. It wasn’t too difficult but I could see where it would be after a heavy rain.

I wouldn't consider the trail hard. There is hardly any elevation gain and the creek crossings weren't terrible. I went late July and some of the creeks were dry or hardly had any water. Definitely wear water shoes, otherwise your shoes will be wet the entire time. I had a hard time locating the viewing area of the window cliffs. It says overlook, but usually when it says that you assume it's below you, but instead you need to look up and you will see them. Definitely missed that and had to ask another hiker. So be sure to look up!

For old people it’s a little difficult but we loved it!

Beautiful trail, make sure to bring enough water (at least 3 liters). Steep elevation gain on the way back.

Needed a break from really frigid weather these past three weeks. What a delightful, well-marked/maintained trail with natural arches to see. Today, 25 Jan. 2018, was clear blue @ low 50's. Highly recommend this trail and other area trails to refresh your soul.

Beautiful scenery, not too difficult trails but just watch where stepping and would recommend taking a walking stick.

This is a marvelous hike. Wear proper shoes and clothes for getting wet. Depending on the levels, the creek can be high or low. If current is mild, great swimming holes. Pack a lunch and enjoy the view. Before it was a park, it was not as diverse as now. Great low lands to enjoy. State has done a great job putting in split rails to keep you from sliding down the hills (thanks)! If in the area, please enjoy but know this is a hike, not a walk in the woods. The hard rating is earned

Diverse trail and the twin arches are stunning!

Closed for today due to strong currents

Hiked with group of friends and all our kids. Great day hike with a nice waterfall at the end of loop. Would like to go back in winter and see the ice and snow on falls.

Nice payoff at the top. Great view from south overlook. Check for ticks when you finish. Had about 3 on each of us even with bug spray

Hiked here from Cumberland Falls. Such a beautiful hike with a chance to take a dip and cool off at the falls. Definately needed the rest to finish off the 10.5 miles.

The trails here are very dangerous and slick. I fall and hurt myself. My boyfriend slid almost fall over a cliff and lost his walking stick. If you go here be extremely careful and let someone know where you are going.

This is a great trail. I liked it better before it became a park due to all the people that are now on it. But it's a great place with beautiful views. Just remember if you go to the bottom, you will be walking through a creek most of the way, so wear appropriate shoes.

Took a 4 yo who walked and a 2 yo who rode. All had fun. Incredible wonder to find in the middle of nowhere.

Atop of the south arch offers so beautiful views.

It’s really nice hike overall. I took my 7 year old and she got through all the creek crossings just fine and we hiked all the way to the cliff. Just wear shoes made for hiking and getting wet and you’re good. The only bad part is the hike back to the parking lot because it is steep!

Found this trail while looking for something closer to Knoxville and a little different than the normal Smokey Mountain day hike. Parking is for about 5-7 vehicles. There was a nice trail map at the beginning. The trail is marked pretty well except one part where you combine with an ATV trail, then shortly come back off of it. After a little over a mile the trail began to be overgrown. The brush and grass was very tall and really took away from enjoying the hike for us.

Beautiful and Short!!!! Steep but doable!! My hiking sticks DEFINITELY helped me a lot!!! The falls is an amazing site and great area to swim!!

After playing dodge the pothole down a grave road, we found the 2nd trail head (which isn’t marked at the road!). Sign states 1 mile which it is to the top of the falls and another 0.3 to the bottom. The path is slightly narrow and extremely filled with roots. All in all it was a moderately hard trail with some very nice rock structures and a nice creek along side the path. Once at the falls our dog got to swim in the cool water and enjoy scenery. Only issue is the huge piles of trash collected on the bank.

This is a beautiful area. You can take a short, easy walk to the top of the falls, or you can make the relatively moderate hike down to the base of the falls and beyond. Very pretty and relaxing, with a swimming hole at the base of the falls.

dog Slaughter Falls had a wonderful view of the waterfalls at the end of the trail. the only thing that was a complaint would be the signs were incorrect mileage hike. but other other than that I wouldn't change a thing about our trip. it was beautiful, I would recommend it!

Beautiful hike. But please be cautious, especially with children. The cliffs have no railing and four of the nine river crossings lack guide wire as they have flooded. Otherwise a wonderful experience

Awesome trip and cold water to cool off in
