This was a rather easy hike, but was very beautiful! It took me about an hour and a half there and back but I spent a while at the mine. I didn’t go inside but sat there and enjoyed the view. I also took my 40lb bully and he was fine the whole way. Didn’t seem tired at any point through the hike. They do charge for parking so make sure to buy a pass. I made the mistake of not buying a pass and received a ticket, however the fee was only what the pass would’ve cost ($5).

Love this hike. Can be super packed on the weekends so come during the week during the middle of the day. Beautiful little oasis at the bottom of the falls. Don't walk across the reeds and cattails just let nature be and respect it from a distance :)

Great, easy slot Canyon. Have to scramble a little to get down to the trail but it’s pretty easy.

After walking through the slot nice hole continues to a view of Fonts Point from the reverse and some miniature wind caves.

Good hike for summer as a lot of it is shaded.

It is a good hike overall, but not great. The length is recorded more of a 3.8 mile hike.

Initial descent is steep and on a road for the first 3/4 mile. From there it’s dirt roads/trails.

Several other hikers along the trail, one of which warned of a rattle snake ahead on the trail.

Unfortunately we got to the end and there was no water at the falls. Definitely a disappointment, but just no rain recently to provide the spectacle.

This is your go-to family friendly hike. Be sure to arrive early as parking spots fill up quickly. (I suggest arriving around 8 am unless you want to hike to the trailhead) You will need an Adventure pass. You could purchase a day permit near the trailhead for 5 dollars, make sure you have it in cash. Have fun!

The Ferndell loop was a great start to a great day of hiking! Got to see different wildlife and little streams. Great for kids, pets, etc. and you might even spot a celebrity along the way!

loved it. definitely not for kids! too many places where they could fall.

The hike was very clean, there were many trails available. I was pleased that I saw no liter, just graffiti, which is typical. I took my kids (8 and 15) with no troubles. Will go back again!

There were some steep bits that had some tricky footing, but the view was great. I went pretty far off the trail, but it was well worth it because the view for better the higher I got. I definitely recommend going higher that the trail if you have the time and energy.

This was a really cool short and easy trail. It had some really nice geological features. Some parts of the slots gets really tight. We had started our hike a little later in the day, but the weather was awesome and the 2nd half of the trail was all shaded. Since the trail is a loop we decided to start the trail from heading West (if facing the slots head left) from the parking. It'll take you through a dirt road (4wd vehicle use this trail too) until you finally hit a steep hill. Go down the hill to the right and head towards the slots. There is a faster option of getting to the slots which is starting at the end and either doing the loop in that direction or turning around at the end of the slots and head back the same way you came in. If you decide to start in reverse remember they're is that steep hill with loose sand you'll have to go up. We found it most rewarding doing it the way we did. But we ran into other hikers that did it in reverse.

Great hike! So fun for Oktoberfest and getting in the Halloween Spirt!

nice trail but beware, if you're on the trail and miss the white arrow spray painted on a rock, you"re going to miss the falls. also it is a steep drop to where the falls are. you may have to do some but sliding but it is gorgeous. great falls in to a pool. follow all trails, once it shows you are there. time to go down the hill on your backside to a great area.
have fun!

Great close by hike with beautiful views and fun walking through the ruined house and waterfall. We started early (7:45 AM) so trail was empty. We started counter clockwise on Solstice canyon rd . We finished the loop in an hour and 15 minutes so decided to do it again this time clockwise starting with the rising sun trail which is a harder uphill. Ended up having a picnic at the ruins on our way down. Great workout and fun hike! Trail got pretty busy around 10 AM .

A beautiful park with well maintained and clearly marked trails. Parking at the trailhead is very limited and fills up fast. Rather than waiting for someone to leave we parked at a scenic overlook just up the road from the park entrance and walked the approx 3/4 mile to the trailhead.

We chose to do the loop counter-clockwise. The Solstice Canyon Trail is an old road bed, largely paved, but very degraded in sections. We saw folks pushing baby strollers up to Tropical Terrace. It's more of a walk than a hike, but it is definitely up hill all the way. It's shadey and canyony. Quite lovely. It ends at Tropical Terrace, the site of an old residence. It's a beautiful setting with lots of non native tropical vegetation. This is also the site of the waterfall, barely a trickle on our visit after our long, arid spring and summer.

We chose the Rising Sun Trail for our return. This is truly a hike. It's a trail, not an old road. After a quick and easy stream crossing there is a long slog uphill, nearly to the crest of the ridge in front of you. It will get your heart rate up, but it's very doable. Sections have steps built into the hillside. Once the crest is reached, there is a long traverse with beautiful canyon and eventual ocean views. Then the trail descends back to the trailhead.

This is a beautiful hike easily done as part of a day.

It is a 4 when water is in the creek it would be a 5. I would say it is easy to moderate vs just easy. For a first hike for children they definitely need to watch their step.

Very pretty.

I take everyone here!!!
It has it all! The drive to the parking lots has spectacular views as well! The hike is dog and family friendly and is @ 3 miles. The trail is an ADVENTURE! Starts on pavement and views of the hills and valley then heads into the woods! Lots of cover and the trail moves along the waterway and crosses it a few times, so be careful with your footing over wet rocks! And the payoff is a gorgeous WATERFALL!!!!!
And now that we're getting some rain, finally, even better!
This hike never gets old!!!
ENJOY!!!

Nice hike. We got there around 0915 and parking was tight, this was a fall morning. Trail is exposed, so bring a hat and make sure to wear sunscreen. Did the Paradise Falls trail with an added leg bypassing the water treatment plant down the valley. Neat to see a water fall in the LA area this time of year, and the hike along the creek was also pleasant. Lots of families, which is always nice to see. Also passed a couple mountain bikers. Plenty of options to extend your hike, and some great views throughout the hike.

Dog and kid friendly. Two paws up!

Beautiful, fun and easy hike. There was no water when we went on Sept 23rd, but was still such a nice hike. A little bit of an incline on the way back out, but my husband and I are always taking our kids (2 months, 3, 5, and 7 years old) out for hikes, lake/river swimming and fishing, 4 wheeling and camping trips so they didn't have to hard of a time. We just let them go their own pace. We lucky when it came to other hikers. The parking was great and we seen maybe 4 other party's hiking. We defiantly want to go again.

plenty of things to do on the bike. has it all

This trail is ok, but not worth going out of your way for. Very dry and dusty. A few good views but throughout a lot of the trail you can still see neighborhoods. I went around sunset and ran into a large rattlesnake right near the trail! The waterfall was little and serene but very busy with other people. Probably a trail best for families.

it's very kid friendly all kinds of trails around need to do it again.
