Beautiful trail. Saw a coyote today 4/11/18. Did the loop starting toward the lake. Met another couple that said a little easier in that direction. After the lake has 3 hills. Not well marked in spots. Stay to left at top of first hill. Valley after, small bridge washed out. Hop a few rocks. Another fork after starting down second hill. Stay right. Easy to follow other than that. Enjoy.. We did. Used the app during the hike and it is accurate.

It’s a nice trail, saw some wildlife while we were out. Overall it’s a bit busy in the surrounding area but hardly anyone was on the trail. The markers do indeed get a bit confusing to follow. The vistas weren’t as impressive as most people said and there really isn’t too much to see besides woods. Well maintained though, not great, not terrible overall.

Enjoyed the trail. My fiance n I with our 2 dogs started at the Mineral Spring Trail head by the rangers office n picked up the Heritage Trail. Nice scenery and some good climbs. About 2 1/2 miles in came across a large tree the park must've cut down n left it lay across the trail. Was a bit difficult for the dogs to navigate over but not too bad. Definitely wet n muddy on some down hill. But all in all we had a great time.

Didn’t love this one. Went in March and not much to look at with planes flying overhead fairly often so you don’t get to much of a nature feel. Good practice for the AT though with the steep climbs.

Easy trail. Nice walk with some water features.

A great hike. Very muddy today with all the rain, be sure to wear waterproof boots with your hike. Scenic hike along a stream! Very relaxing and easy loop!

A nice trail in an urban park. Some parts are surprisingly secluded from the city. However, the trail is very confusing and could use more signs for navigation.

Been frequenting this sanctuary for almost 24 years......Thank You!!!!
Great place to revel in lifes journey through all the MADD SEASONs whilst pondering The Power of the Myth; and trying not to encourage the ENTERing of the SANDMAN ;)

The Heritage trail is beautifully blazed! I made a 5 mile loop starting at Nichol road trailhead, going south on Heritage trail to Buckskin trail, and back out Nichol road. I’m not a fan of “road” hiking, but Nichol is more of a trail than a road. Buckskin trail is a horse trail so blazes are much less frequent, but it’s easy to follow. Only confusing spot was where it appeared there was a double blaze indicating a turn that wasn’t. Looked for it a bit, then decided to stick with the obvious path. The Heritage trail has multiple creek crossings and is wet! Hiking poles are a big help as are waterproof boots. I was able to keep water depth to about ankle deep, but it took a little work. My dog went along and managed well too. Saw a few footprints, but no other hikers til the last 1/4 mile.
I hiked another part of Heritage from Racoon park road last week. Again, great trail marking and good scenery. Lots of climb and not so wet on this section. Only met 2 others on the trail this day too.

More of an easy/moderate hike. Good scenery and well marked paths

The trail is not difficult to follow if you have a map or use the ap. The trail turns right once you hit the telephone lines. The trail was in good condition with only a few really muddy spots. Not many people on the trail due to the cold weather.

Easy to find and accessible. Visited it just before sunset and the scene was just a beauty to behold.

Great trail and history. Old site of a mineral spring resort from late 1800s and early 1900s. Ppl believed the water had healing powers and came from all over to drink and bath in them.

Short hike. Lovely fall leaves all around. As we are new to following trail markers we weren't sure if we were to follow the yellow, green, or U shapes on the trees (we believe it's the U shape). Though it felt a little urban it was quiet and serene, possibly due to the colder temperatures. One or two vistas as well.

This trail is more like a walk through the woods than a hike...but what a walk it is. You are almost guaranteed to see deer, alot of deer! You may also come across horse back riders. I recomend this trail for families.

This was a great hike around North Park but some of the route was difficult to find. I wish there were clearer markings or signs. If we didn't have the map on our phone we would have been lost.

Short but interesting hike to the mineral springs. Varied terrain, creek crossing, some elevation gain, lots to look at.

Fantastic hike. Blazed perfectly. If you get lost your a moron.

Difficult to stay on course at times. Most was great hiking. Final mile along the RR tracks was not the best! Would do parts again!

Lots of fun but poorly marked in a lot of places. Probably added at least another mile doubling back to find the correct path, but overall a great hike!

Nice hard packed path. Well blazed with green blazes. Narrow and a little steep in a few spots. I did this trail in about 35 minutes.

Great dog friendly park! There's even a fenced in dog area behind the Observatory on top of the hill. There's also a beautiful clearing down at the bottom of the park with a stone pavilion. Quality city park best for quick trips.

The Wildflower Reserve is a lovely place for nature walking. There are several trails within the reserve so you can take an hour or an afternoon. I suggest exploring on a weekday in late April - early May to get the full wildflower display. Many scenic overviews can be found on the Audubon Trail, and the creekside Old Field Trail is quite peaceful. Only a small portion of the Jennings Trail travels close enough to the highway for traffic noise. No pets.

Bearing right from the trail access at the park road and onward to the lake, Lake Trail is a nice, scenic, typical western PA walk in the woods. Once you reach beyond the lake the trail gets quite muddy, overgrown, and downright unpleasant and steep for a little while. On the Forest Trail portion of the loop, at 2.7 miles or so, you will encounter a nice fern and pine forest that is quite refreshing after the not so nice parts, so it's a good reward for traveling this loop in the lakeward direction first. I agree with the Moderate rating.

Great trail with some scenic spots. Easy hike with only 1 or 2 hills worth noting. I'd definitely recommend it!

Nice park. Trails are well kept. Lots of dogs enjoying the outdoors. The trails can get confusing though and what I thought was gong to be a couple miles of hiking ended up being 8 miles and thee hours.
