Hiked 8/13.

Awesome hike and such a beautiful view. I definitely recommend swimming.

I got engaged by the lake when we got to the top. I’m pretty sure Andrew (from the comment below) took pictures of our proposal. The pictures are absolutely amazing! Thank you again, Andrew!

Great for training but, not really much else.

The tree cover is lovely, the views are breathtaking (if you don’t get caught in cloud cover) and the hike is a steady incline, with some harder switchbacks near the top. Only negative: it gets really packed with people.

Snow Lake is beautiful, lots of people on the trail. Not difficult so a lot of day hikers. Beautiful campsites and quiet at night.

Nice easy to get to hike. A good amount of people and dogs however on a Thursday morning. Still very enjoyable.

I love this hiking.

worth the trip down to the lake once you've "gotten to the top".

Great hike. Gorgeous views!!

Awesome trail, but try to avoid it on weekends. It is literally the interstate of hikes.

Hiked today, 8/15

I got up to the parking lot early, around 7:00am and was pleased to see the parking lot wasn’t busy at all. There were only two other hikers going up at the same time. I got to the top in 1 hr and 45 min. and my Garmin distance clocked it at 4.8 miles, so definitely a little longer than this distance says. Like a lot of other reviews, I’d say it’s more moderate than hard. There are some rocks you have to scramble over but it’s not too difficult. Weather was perfect in the morning. Views were blocked by the smoke from the fires but it was still beautiful. Highly recommend for a quick morning hike! Wish I would’ve kept going!

This hike kicked my ass. Went when it was in the 100’s and it was humid. Went through my camel pack water and two water bottles before even reaching the top. Luckily a guy gave me a water and Gatorade because I had a panic attack and was crying because it was so humid. So yes bring LOTS of water. The hardest part was the last mile going up the rocks and probably coming back down because your exhausted. But the view is worth it. If you’re not in shape or don’t hike I suggest that you don’t do this as your first hike.

BRING LOTS OF WATER LOL

Absolutely beautiful hike with glimmering alpine waters, jagged snowy mountain tops and fluffy mountain goats. Beginner hikers may find it difficult because of the length and the rocky incline. The road to the trail has MANY potholes so be prepared for a bumpy ride! Get there before 8 on weekends because it gets busy!

Great day hike! For sure harder than I thought it would be. The view is worth it for sure!

Amazingly not much crowd at 5 pm today ... wonderful trail !!

The views along the trail were incredible, despite the smoke hanging in the air from the wildfires in the region which obscured some of the more distant mountains. The drive up from Icicle road has some amazing views and road is in good shape. Parking permit is $5. Took two and a half hours to reach the lake from the parking area. Didn’t encounter many bugs. Views at the lake were stunning, the water was brisk but refreshing; definitely worth bringing a bathing suit!

While enjoying the view I was unwittingly recruited to take photos for a lake-side proposal. He picked a great spot for it! I wish the happy couple all the best!

Finally heathy enough to try this. It bugged me every time I drove up I-90 and saw it sitting up there. Did it last Saturday on a nice cool, but cloudy day. Got a glimpse of Chester Morse as clouds lifted for a minute. Loved the fact it was not crowded. Only saw about 10 people all day. I was slow up and down, including a clumsy stumble. Just a flesh wound, so nothing other than some scrapes and pride. Funny, my first thought was “did anyone see that” knowing full well no one was around.

Trail is not as well travelled as Mt Si despite their similar statistics. It has some more rocky spots, hence the stumble.

I’m not much of a repeat hiker, too many places to hike, but would like to do this again on a clear day.

We loved the hike and would recommend it to others. But we have a few words of caution. Though very beautiful, the bluffs and scenery were somewhat difficult to see due to so much smoke in the air from fires. Afterwards, I asked about the smoke at the nearby ranger station and the ranger did not know the origin of the fires causing the smoke. On our descent we ran into two families with kids aged about 4 to 10. The kids were struggling, especially through the rocky sections. I would hesitate to take young kids on this trail unless they're used to hiking a lot.

Been there on Saturday 08/04/2018. One of the best hikes. Though it is little long hike for me, I enjoyed it fully because of few view points on the way. Trail is wide and good. The lake at the end is nice and easily accessible for swimming. Small parking area. I would go there again.

Been there on Sunday 08/11/2018. Enjoyed the hike but did not like the fact that there are no view points (no creeks, no waterfalls or no high views), it was all dry. The tail path is wide and good. I guess this trail is rated Hard because of the elevation and the distance. Took 4 hours to the top and 2.5 hours to come back. Less crowd. Not much sun light. It was all rocks at the top. The view from the top is good. Near to North Bend Downtown and easily accessible, decent parking lot. Restrooms are horrible.

Great hike. Beautiful views.

We loved this hike! The Ira Spring trail is fairly steep and provides a good work out, with some interesting exposed sections periodically up switchbacks and then amidst boulder fields toward the summit. Views are incredible on a cloudy day. We went up and over to the Mason Lake trail on the other side of the peak and enjoyed a nice break at the lake, enjoying the serene water and quiet before making our way up and back down the front side.

Great cool weather today for our first "hard" rated training hike. The trail is a bit hard to find in a couple of spots, but there are signs at most of the decision points. Be prepared for lots of rocks and overgrown berry bushes flanking long sections of the trail. Minimal bugs and great opportunity for views if skies are clear. Light traffic made this an enjoyable hike.

We did today!!!! It was FANTASTIC but EXHAUSTING!!!
We hiked on a new trail and we made it there for 3hours and 30 mins and 3 hours going down. Yay!!

TLDR... Very worthwhile hike, if early. Bummer crowds. Keep your dog on it's leash for the love of all things decent. Nike running shoes will get you there, but for sure would recommend boots.

We got to the trailhead around 7:15 am and the lot was only about half-full. We were pretty fortunate to not encounter anyone for over a mile and a half - just the sweeping fog and light rain. The hike itself is a relatively gentle climb through some old growth and a couple slightly more tedious sections (think Pennsylvania on the AT) added in for a nice kick. The trail is well maintained. The alpine lake at the top is gorgeous and was well-worth the trip up. We strolled around the lake for awhile before the crowds arrived and decided to head back down around 9:45 am.

Unfortunately once we started heading back down we were smacked with a never-ending (as in, from the lake down until the parking lot) line of people heading up. The crazy foot traffic was harsh, but not nearly as lame as how people treat that place. We encountered about 10-15 deposits of trash that were not on the trail when we ascended a couple hours earlier and lwayyyyy too many groups of tech-bros and bro-ettes that were letting their dogs run off the leash - WE GET IT, you're dog is "chill" but with the amount of traffic (and kids), coupled with how narrow and rocky it can be at times, the entitlement isn't warranted or beneficial.

All-in-all, the hike is incredibly enjoyable and not very taxing and could be rated +4/5 on quality of trail, scenery, and workout alone. However, considering you're bound to come across a bunch of people here, it's worth knowing that... yup, a bunch of them suck.

The view at the top is totally worth it!

Go to BelSquare if you want to be around this many people. Beautiful lake. Lots of bugs. Very scenic trail.

on Snow Lake Trail

Hike is beautiful, but it is so packed and literally ZERO trail etiquette. Lots of loud people on the trail. Because of the amount of people we turned off snow lake and went up to another small lake. Couldn’t get down to the water but had beautiful views and ended up being a 5 mile in and out hike. Won’t do it again but it is very beautiful.

Always a good strenuous hike/run. Today did two loops to the summit. Lots of friendly people out there today, appreciate everyone moving off to the side for this old guy running.

The view at the top is stunning! I would say this hike is more moderate than hard. I’m in decent shape. The last bit is steep but just when you think it’s too steep it will even out to give you a little break. It’s definitely longer than 7.7 miles especially if you want to walk around the lake and see it from all the points which I highly recommend. Definitely go to the rocky part where aasgard pass starts. Totally worth it! Get there early because it was super crowded coming up when we were coming back down around 12 and it is a lot cooler going up in the morning. We didn’t have a problem with bugs at all.

This is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever been on. I would say it is more moderate than hard, the length isn’t too bad and it’s pretty gradual with a few steep points. The top is stunning views all around, the water is unbelievable. The water wasn’t as cold as I expected, so jump in! Make sure not to separate from your group at the top though because there are a ton of small side trails along the lake and they are very disorienting and our group and lots of others lost each other briefly. Also it is recommended to not pee on the trail due to the goats so there is a little toilet perched on the trail at the top for going to the bathroom- amazing view from it too! Recommend stopping in Leavenworth for a sausage after :)
