I trail ran this route and had a blast. There is shade later on in the hike but the first potion is in the sun. There was frost around the trail near the end but I was fine in my running shoes.

I got plastered by artificial snow makers trying to find the trailhead by the Brighton Ski resort, but once found it was a great hike! It was fairly quick, even with the snowfall on the ground. I loved skipping rocks on the frozen lake and hearing those cool Star Wars noises.

Beautiful and short trail

It’s a relatively easy hike and very well-marked. It’s a beautiful view of the valley if the sky is clear. If it’s hazy or smoky, you can’t see much!

Nice short trail with an amazing view of SLC at the peek.

It is short but pretty steep almost the entire time. But worth it if you take it slow it’s a great hike for anyone. At the top you see the entire valley so very worth it

Beautiful views almost the entire time! It was a gradual incline until the last mile before the lake, but still
totally doable. Sadly .5 miles to the lake the snow pack dies out and you would need snow shoes to get through the final section so we had to turn around. Bummer, but the views up to that point were awesome.

Good, short hike with nice views of the lake and surrounding communities. I appreciated the signage along the trail to help me decide if I wanted to extend the loop by checking out one of the spur trails.

Worth it for the view, short, and nice

Did this trail yesterday, it hard to follow the trail with the recent snowfall and quite slippery due to icy areas, but worth the challenge and inspiration for capturing both visually and mentally the solitude of this area. Simply beautiful.

Worth doing once for the view of the city. Easy to follow. Well maintained.

Did the hike just after sunrise on 11/3. We were the first ones out and back after a snowfall from the previous night, so we ended up losing track of the trail a lot. (Easy hike in the fresh snow powder, just hard to follow the true trail with so many side trails) The lake was completely frozen over but not yet completely snow covered. Looking forward to coming back in the summer.

Great hike, really beautiful. 3-6 inches of snow and lightly snowing all day. Well worth the uphill climb.

Easy nice morning climb to watch sun rise.

I love this trail, I’ve been here several times and great incline not too steep but long. When you bet to “top” of that branches into couple trails. On the right. Ore covered and foresty and left more views and more of the similar incline as the beginning.

Great trail to take a dog on. I love being in the trees, shade and fall leaves.

Did this hike on 10/28/18. We made it to all three lakes. There was lots of snow, but most of it was packed in so you were not sinking down with every step. Wear proper hiking shoes and gear (we did not bring hiking poles but wish we did!). It was a gorgeous hike! The best part was that we were the only ones at Lake Catherine. I think the snow scared people off! Definitely recommend this hike.

Loved this hike! Not as steep as Red Pine but longer. I’d agree with others who’ve characterized this as moderate rather than difficult. The lake at the top is a gem. Still doable without poles or traction but It is a bit slippery in spots though, especially once it starts warming up. The snow is packed now so you don’t really need gaiters.

Fast, fun, family friendly hike. We enjoyed climbing on the rocks at the end near the waterfall and exploring some caves off the main trail.

Great for a short hike, not so much for mountain biking. This app says it's mountain bike friendly but there's actually a sign that says bikes prohibited. That may just be in the first overlook area at the bottom, but bikes aren't a great idea for this trail anyway because it's so frequently trafficked and steep. I had to walk my bike up most of the way (lifted it over the bigger rocks at the top) and of course heavily breaked nonstop on the way down. I adore the view at the top tho! Especially in the morning! The sun rises over the east mountain range the sunlight filtered beautifully through the autumn colored trees on the mountain.

Great hike. This trail has a bit of everything. Snow, mud, rocks, wildlife...and other hikers.

Sometimes the beaten path is slightly different than the actual red-marked trail in this app. I veered off slightly and wound up backtracking twice. Pay attention to the app so you don’t veer too far.

I added the Silver Lake trail to my hike and finished at 5 miles flat. Had I not veered off I think I would have finished this hike at 4 miles.

Fun trail, dog friendly. Took lots of pictures and it took us about 2 hours.

Great day hike! Trail was snow covered from 9000 feet to the top. This was the most difficult part for me as I’m not accustomed to altitude ( from PA). Below that it is very rocky, so be prepared for both. The lake was beautiful, though there are other small lakes on the way up. Very few others on the trail, which was well marked even in the snowy areas, thanks to those who went before us. Views were absolutely spectacular. Despite the cool temps, the sun was very warm. Bring sunscreen, especially now that there is snow.

Beautiful hike! Quite snowy, but worth it! Hiked in the snow around the lake and then back down. definitely will go again!

Just beautiful. Always loved going here when I was a kid.

Great hike but the waterfall is barely a trickle. There a side hike up the side of the mountain if you have the skills. Beautiful view from the top. Warning signs for mountain lions in the area, did see proof that they have been there, also saw a tarantula on the trail. Will return in the spring. Beautiful canyon.

Just agreeing with other 5 star reviews. This path is an absolutely incredible treasure. Among recreation amenities in general it ranks up there with anything Utah has to offer, and among urban riparian greenways it is probably in the top 10 in the US. If Utah had a more coherent way of managing its human-nature interface, this path and the ecosystem it is part of would put Ogden on the international map as an internationally desirable place to live.

Great Fall walk with kids. Great views and pretty water fall. Super easy trail for 4 years old. It’s steep but the wooden stairs are well built. Watch out for signs or the trail will be easily missed because it is within a residential area.

Nice hike and surprised to find it completely snow covered in late October. The snow made it even more fun, and the trail was still easy to follow.

Short and beautiful!
