Crazy easy trail with beautiful views for not a lot of work. Very clearly a trail. Part of the staircase going back up was broken though.

One of the worst maintained trails I’ve ever hiked. Basically brush the entire way with 34 creek crossings. The trail isn’t marked, which isn’t a big issue, but the trail just up and disappears countless times. My husband and I hiked this right after a huge rainstorm which was also crazy muddy. Not strenuous at all, but a very frustrating trail. The falls were pretty, however, your effort is spent better elsewhere.

Beautiful views! And a bit of a workout but worth it!

*THIS IS AN UNMARKED UNOFFICIAL TRAIL* don’t get worried if the stream is dry as it runs under ground for a little over half the hike. Could be complicated with kids and after rainfall but this gem is worth the hassle.

Absolutely breathtaking from the bottom or the top Wonderful place to stay. no cell phone service is actually amazing. Nice break from the hustle of life! Have to see these rocks in person. Pictures don’t do them justice. Great weekend stay.

Short easy walk with beautiful view. Great off roading trail (is a West Virginia road) just past where you park for Lindy point. But only lifted 4x4 or dirt or mountian bike can make it the whole way thru.

Trail is a steady climb. Best views are past the warning sign on top of the rocks. It is dangerous. Be careful. Kids MUST be held on to. Views are awesome. If you are unsteady or unsure, use the viewing deck.

Absolutely amazing at the top! I'd hike up this trail every week and would never get bored, as I would still marvel at the beauty of God's creation!

Breathtaking views from the knob. Worth every step of the hike.

Beautiful views. A perfect hike for a beginner to moderate biker. A good workout!

Pretty amazing structure and views.

Great outing for the family (kids ages 6 - 14). Pretty waterfall with knee deep pool for kids to play in.

great view!

Make sure you bring water, it is a long hike!

I love McAfee Knob. View at the top is amazing. This is a bucket list hike for many people and for that reason I give it 5 stars however I urge everyone to go out and check out the other amazing hikes this area has to offer with hikes such as tinker cliffs, dragons tooth and sharp top.

Difficult somewhat but it’s a beautiful place at the top to look out and just relax. Loved going with my friend

Leg smoker, lots of rocks on the trail, so wear good boots! The view from the top is incredible. This is a popular hike so once you make it to the end, there are quite a few people climbing on the rocks for photo ops.

My friend Chris is a professional hiker and trail runner. We recently did this trail together and he absolutely smashed every Strava KOM on the map. Truly a freak of nature as we tried to keep up with his record blazing pace. The hike was OK but his performance was incredible definitely would give it a 12 out of 10.

Great views along the trail on both sides as it traverses along the ridge. It is a popular trail and dog friendly so it was quite busy on our hike. It was a bit muddy in shaded vales which made the rocks there slippery but it really wasn’t an issue. Our two dogs didn’t even finish the hike muddy. Being December 30 it was unusually warm at nearly 60°. All in all it was a very pleasant hike. I recommend it and will likely hike it again someday.

This was a fun hike with incredible views! It’s my favorite hike in the Gorge! Once you get to Court House Rock, you can take Double Arch trail, which I highly recommend. You’ll hike through forest and alongside a river. Once you make it up to Double Arch, there is an amazing view!

One of the best hikes I've ever done. The hike itself is steady and fairly easy, not much to write home about. The view at the top is incredible and well worth it, even in the rain. Most photographed spot on the AT for very good reason. You can see the Blue Ridges in every direction and it was hard for me to pull myself away and hike back down.

Easy, steady hike up with lots of switchbacks. View at the top is gorgeous. The hike was a little boring and there were a lot of people even in the off season. Overall a decent hike, though. There's a neat little historical cabin on the other side of the parking lot, too.

this trail is up hill all the way, not a lot of stumbling but so worth the view

Really really easy trail but beautiful sight to see. lots of steps!

The views were great from Charlie’s Bunion as it was a cloudless day. Still it was a bit disheartening to see the brown pall of smog in the Tennessee valley. Absent the smog, one could see forever, well almost. There was a lot of snow and ice on the trail. Depths ranged from 6 to 18 inches. The snow was no problem except where hard packed in places by hikers. There was also considerable ice, particularly on the frequent natural or man made steps. My wife’s bad knees combined with the ice made the return trip a bit hazardous. Because temps were above freezing at New Found Gap there was a lot of muddy slush the last 1/4 mile or so to the parking lot. But, we made the 8-mile round-trip without incident, albeit slowly. This is a great hike with excellent views into both NC and TN. There is no way this is a “hard” hike. It is moderate at the most, as the elevation change is minimal given the 5000 foot starting point. Snow cleats would help right now, and hiking poles are recommended. Our hike was 12/26/18.

Awesome hike to top

Absolutely breathtaking at the top! The air and atmosphere at the Bunion itself is pure and blissful. Our trip was a little precarious due to icy paths in Mid-December, but it is well worth the trip! Not to be missed!

Great hike. Not difficult by any means and the trail is clearly marked. Try going early in the morning to avoid others. The photo ops at the top are stunning.

More of a park and walk. The waterfall was pretty cool and had a HEAVY flow. The trail was “close,” but You could still see the Falls...and no one was around if you know what I mean.
