1-5 mile trails Map

Locked out

A basic description of this trail should include the fact that the entrance to the trail is padlocked win the middle school is in session. There is a middle school at the head of the trail and when the middle school is in session the trail has a padlocked entrance and no one can get in. All trails has been nothing but a disappointment as an app because it always leaves off vital information like this.

trail running

Nice trail around a pretty lake that can be run several times for distance if desired...trail is partially gravel and partially dirt which makes a nice combo for a flat trail run

This place gets a bad rap because folks want groomed trails with signs posted everywhere, blah! I have hiked and biked this area and the most appealing part is that it’s NOT marked. Life is an adventure, go explore! There is actually more than 10 miles of trails throughout the park and preserve to hike. In the dryer months the sand can be deep. In the cooler months you can find a lot of birds to photograph on the two lakes and small pond. There is also a swampy area on the NW side that is teeming with turtles and a small gator - great for photos, but you’ll need a longer lens for them.

The Danes cave and Lizzie hart sink is very Florida. The trail shows a loop that returns to the caves but it is poorly marked and maintained so I walked past it on the well blazed yellow trail and ended up on Stagecoach rd and had to walk a 1.5 miles on a busy rd to get back to the trailhead. I will run a shuttle next time. Well worth the hike. The sink is a huge ancient Florida sinkhole now reclaimed by nature with some water in the bottom.

Excellent for a moderate hiking. Keep you away from the city noise.

about a quarter mile walk from parking to where the trail starts go to the left first three miles is mostly shaded and along the river footing is solid but there are a lot of roots in the trail. the trail is a 6 Mile Loop that can be cut in half. the second 3 miles is little more sand but not too deep to run in. Trail is generally not crowded and as best run from November to the beginning of April or whenever rainy season starts once the rain starts I don't bother to go, there will be standing water that does not clear. when the trail is dry it is very enjoyable

they have started to run 5K races out there. There are other trails out there which I plan to explore soon. It is best to take an app with the trail on it so you can stay on course. The area has potential. The only problem I have with it is that once you are on the trail there are no short cuts if you need to get off sooner than expected.

Acorn loop trail was nice and shaded. Osprey loop trail had no shade. Combined they are about 4.5 miles. Overall very nice trails, well maintained, not crowded and you can see alligators in the lake. I would definitely recommend this trail.

It's ok. Good for short walks or run.

Great family hike for all ages. Short jaunt to Peace Cave. Usually crowded. Fun to descend down easy path and welcome the coolness at the lower level. Smaller caves to explore once in main cavern. Pretty to walk the sandy trails in Withlacoochee beyond the caves/sinkholes. Peaceful and calming

Amazing place I take my dogs a lot never crowded in the morning specially throughout the week. The weekends unfortunately are a big tourist attraction to the Caves I avoid them and only go during the week with my family

I Use this trail along with Lizzie heart sink trail 4 to 5 times a week

Very easy trail. You have great views of the Myakka River. We took our dog and she loved it. Most of the trail had a nice canopy. There was a good bit of standing water and a lot of mosquitos. We very much enjoyed that it was quiet with no one else present. The trail is well maintained and marked. Perfect trail for all ages as there are benches throughout. We did not see any alligators or any other animals for that matter.

Great day hike trail! Good mix of shell paths and boardwalks to keep you interested. Several loops you can take which is great if you have to cut your walk short for any reason. My only criticism would be to have better markings on the shorter loops on how to access the perimeter waterside trail. Also it isn't marked clearly on the map, but the middle boardwalk DOES connect with the back perimeter trail!

we went in early Sept and it's still a bit too warm and the amount of rain has the caves a bit soggy. this is more of a late fall, winter and early spring hike than summer in Sept lol

Beautiful! Saw lots of birds and butterflies - and two alligators!

rain washed out the path from the night before

rasy trail new markings

Flat dog walking trail. I can't see why this would be rated moderate. some of it is in a parking lot. It's Florida so it can be hot and buggy. It's only 1 mile with an option to cut it in half to a half mile.

Trail was flooded so I went along the paved areas. In 5 minutes I saw a baby gator, a huge owl and a wild sow with 3 piglets! What everyone says about wildlife in the other reviews is true, but I feel bad giving 5 stars to a flooded trail. Definitely going back on my next business trip to the area, so I hope I have a more complete review to write at that time. Don't hike often in Florida, but this seems a candidate for the elevated boardwalks I've seen on other trails.

Nice trail; easy walk w/lots of wildlife to see. This place has an launch area for canoe or kayak to get out in the bay. Caught all kinds of fish every time I’ve made it out that way. Saw turtles, manatees, porpoise, dolphin, a zillion birds in the area.

a must see if you are in the area. tons of caves. if you follow the main trail straight back you will run into the main cluster of caves. off to the left Is another trail that leads you to another group of nice large caves and if you keep walking straight there is another set. if you are into back country hiking there are a few backpacking campsites a mile or two away. beautiful landscapes all around the area of you explore further down the trails

Great trail! It is marked hard, probably due to the amount of water you might end up hiking through, if it's the summer. In parts of the trail, water will easily reach close to your knees. Very beautiful trail.

Fun trail for learning about Florida coast wildlife.

We took the Osprey trail - no osprey sightings. Path is not paved. Mostly grass/dirt. Some areas of sand or crushed shell. Not good for anyone in a wheelchair or using a walker/cane. It was nice but not a place I would go back. Quiet & peaceful. Contrary to the signage, not much wildlife or birds. Saw 2 birds & 3 ducks. We did see a few butterflies and some pretty wildflowers. Passed 4 other people all by the way. We saw one
