Trails were nice
Super fun riding in the dirt
It’s a perfect combination of peace and not being too crowded. I enjoy it a lot
Good place to hike also peace-full.
Easy walk in the park
Nice views. Good walk.
A nice stroll on concrete walkway around the two lakes that make up the park.
This hike is only a little bit harder than the Panorama Park Loop, but it takes in not only the Panorama Bluffs, but also goes along the river. Most of the trail is paved, but there area is such a maze of trails that it easy to put together variations that avoid the pavement.
Fun little trail. Steep to begin and end though. Footing questionable in certain places.
not marked well
A pretty little walk around some man-made lakes near the Kern River.
Beautiful trail. Just make sure to bring plenty cold water bottles and propped running shoes.
Trail would be nice if people weren’t smoking pot all over it. Then getting back to the car to find that the window is busted and your purse stolen is the worst. Won’t be going there again.
The trail was fun easy and fast. Dog friendly and I would even say kid friendly as I did see families with little ones. I went right at 7pm wasn’t to hot. There was spots that had bugs in a certain area so walk with caution you can usually see them before hitting them, no shade so wear a hat and sun screen. The road by the river did smell like bad BO and piss other than that recommend the hike if you want something easy.
I live in the neighborhood and run in area all the time. It's a decent park for a running, walking, and dog walking. The upper trail is paved and mile-marked. There are a few easy drop down spots descend the bluffs and do some hill sprints or walk your dog down to the Kern River for a dip. Now the bad: The view is refinery and oil rigs as far as you can see. Although on some clear winter days you can see the Sierras. It is a city park, so expect trash, graffiti, and dog waste. It is smoggy and hot for much of the year. This trail offers very little shade. Some days the smog and dust are so thick the view takes on an eerie apocalyptic vibe (but hey, that might be a draw for some people). I do enjoy coming here on a winter or early spring day after a storm. The hills green up, and the view gets better if you catch it on the right day. Some reviewers have noted aggressive homeless. I haven't encountered much of that recently. The police have cleared out most the encampments and moved them further downriver closer to downtown. And because this park tends to get crowded with runners bikers and hikers, I've always felt safety in numbers.
run this one in the fall, winter, and spring. nice
In the heat (90) the climb at the end was a little rough.
