When you get there, they have tons of parking area with a gift shop and bathrooms. The hike is easy but some is uphill. Beautiful views! They keep the area very clean and have wide trails. A lot of people go there! I'll be going back for sure!

This trail is steep, but very well maintained and Rainbow Falls was a great reward for my 11, 10, and 8 year old hiking companions.

This hike is amazing but it’s a tough one. We took some of our students from church. It’s tough and I would recommend not doing it if your out of shape. Do some small trails and build up. It whooped our tail but was amazing. It was raining so the view of terrible once we got up there but it was still decent. It’s strenuous but worth the trip if you can do it

Good hike to beautiful views of the falls and mountains. Well worth the time.

Great hike and decent workout. The only bad thing i would say is that parking at Jones Gap sucks. Make sure you get there early or you will be waiting a long time for a parking spot.

Probably the best hike in the state of South Carolina. Some really cool spots off the beaten path if you know where to look. Make sure you get there early, it does get rather busy.

I love this trail! I used to hike it as a kid and remember enjoying all of the water areas to play in along the way up the mountain. It's definitely a workout, but such an incredible view at the top. So worth it!!

This is one of my favorite trails in WNC. Like everyone else says, the left is the best way to go. Follow the stream, the waterfall itself is kind of disappointing. There's a waterfall a little ways down the trail on the stream anyways that's better. And the camping is amazing, there's tons of spots right next to the stream. I've been out there at least 6 times in the last year and a half, and had a great time every time.

Great hike. we took the upper falls trail side to start (which is much easier section than the lower falls trail that starts on the other side of the parking lot) Once you get to the upper falls section you need to cross the water and go up to the next pool up for the rope swing and rock slide. we had a blast sliding down the rocks and using the rope swing. Then we took the trail the rest of the way down to the lower falls where there is a much longer rock slide. the second half of the loop back to the parking lot from the lower falls are switch backs the whole way (or you can take the many short cuts that go straight up if you want) Definitely a must see.

If you start going to the left, then your reward is the tall, lightly flowing falls at the end of the trip. You follow a creek on one half of the loop and go through a changing forest on the other half. The trail is has a canopy keeping the direct sun out of most of the trip.

Well worth the effort. Only a few other people on the trail and had the falls all to myself.

Really enjoyed this hike. I was glad I read the reviews before we hiked it because going left was the best way to go. The uphill that direction is better versus if you start this hike on the right because there is a steeper climb going that direction. I will say if you go left first the best part of the hike is the first half because of the waterfalls and foliage. If you prefer a harder uphill go right first then the last half of your hike is the best.

Amazing hike and the waterfall at the end is breathtaking, far exceeding my expectations. Well-marked trail in purple. Several very steep inclines but doable. It took me about 30 min to get in and 25 back. I’m under 30 and exercise daily and I was sweaty and pretty tired when I finished, so great little workout, too

Absolutely fabulous hike! Not really difficult, but can be a little muddy and slippery at parts. I highly suggest going all the way to the turtleback waterfall. Also, try going on the rocks (dry ones) that are a little bit off-path to get really good shots. We were warned about copperheads, but did not encounter any.

Great trail. With all the rain I would definitely have some shoes that handle mud and water really well. A lot of the trail is shaded so it was very wet. I loved it though.

A great short hike. The waterfall at the end is really beautiful. Gets a little hard at some places, otherwise a moderate hike. I will not suggest taking kids because there are few points with pretty steep and slippery climb.

Awesome waterfalls. Easy trails.

bear encounter

definitely a good work out and the end result is well worth it. just beware of the overgrown area that you have to duck through for about 40ft. and there are diamond back rattle snakes so be careful. otherwise a great hike.

This is a super fantastic hike

Fantastic views, worth the climb. Starts off flat, becomes very rocky and steep with lots of roots. Loved it!!!

Moderate uphill hike with roots and boulders along the way, but the waterfalls are beautiful and well worth the effort!

Take this trail which connects with the John Rock loop trail for some spectacular views! Much less crowded than the Looking Glass Rock trail and still with beautiful scenery. Park at the Pisgah Wildlife Education center and pick up a trail map- very well marked and maintained.

A lack of visible signage led to a wasted trip.

Hiked up on 8/4 with the whole crew of kids- 9, 8, 6, and 4- its a little steep at some parts but definitely doable for kids- great falls at the top- if you go up the right side of the falls there’s a better spot 1/2 way up to rest and have lunch/snack

Did this rocky hike with the best friend and pup! Spray yourself with bug spray prior. The trail was lined with the river/creek for most of the way up, and there were multiple bridges that were great for the views. 10/10 would recommend!! It took us about 3 hours and 15 mins but we hung out at the waterfall for an hour.

Great hike with a slow incline over about a mile. Well maintained trail. The last view (Erwin’s view) is probably the best view of them all and is a distant view. If you can only get to the first overlook...you will still get a decent view.

Started around 0800 yesterday morning and had some slippery/muddy trails during the first half mile or so then it dried up. Got to the scenic outlook 2 hrs later. Beautiful views!!! Definitely worth the hike. There were a few tricky parts in places that required hands to climb up but overall it was a lightly strenuous and very rewarding hike. Definitely recommend!!!

Went after a heavy rain and waterfalls was amazing!!
