Easy hike. Hike itself isn’t very exciting but the waterfall is beautiful and refreshing on a hot day. Give yourself an hour and then some time to enjoy the beauty.

Went early at 6:30 am and glad that I did! It was a beautiful hike, but on the way down saw tons of people on their way up. Go early so you don’t have to fight the crowds!

Went pretty early around 6:30 am and there were already some people ahead of me. This was a cool hike and the falls even had a little cave you can go through and feel the spray from the water! Saw tons of people on my way down so definitely go early!

Easy walk and great way to get some pictures of the lake without all the tourists by the entrance.

Amazing went before 8am. The only one on the trails. Definitely go up the left side of the water fall to see more water falls. One of my favourite hikes.

Getting an early start is key. The falls were beautiful and going the extra steps to the ink pots are worth it!!!!

Fun casual hike with the kids. Falls are great, as you can get to them, beside and behind them.

10/10 views. Lots of steps. Sooo many people at the top, but you will get why, as the view is magnificent. scramble down some rocks to get picks without 100 million people in them. the color of the lake is un like anything. Watch out for thieving chipmunks.

Nice quick hike, great for young families. It took us about 2 hours and that was with a couple toddler meltdowns and a quick lunch at the falls. Although we saw this tagged as “stroller friendly” last year, and hiked it with our Bumbleride Indie Twin, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are lots of tree roots and rocks, and even for an all terrain stroller it’s a lot to handle. Especially as you get up to the falls. This year my husband wore our 1 year old in the Ergo and I wore our 2 year old in a wrap. Definitely recommend babywearing! I love that this trail is nicely shaded basically the whole way, and it’s clear and wide making for easy passing, or walking in a group. It was busy today, which we expected, and no sign of bears.

i give it 5 stars because that trail is so cool

General walking shoes are fine, no hiking boots required. All trails are paved and very well maintained. Some of the surfaces are wet from the river, but all and all a very easy, scenic walk.

Closed due to bear activity FYI

Completed in 2 hrs with a couple 10 year olds. It is an easy enjoyable hike. Not particularly interesting but nice and open and close to Hwy 1. Exposed for a majority of the time so the fact that we went on a slightly cloudy day was perfect.

A very busy but short easy hike up stone stairs to the top. In order to get pictures with no one in them you will have to climb over the stone wall and down a few of the rocks. Once you pick a good spot you won’t have any worries about getting people or trees in your picture / view.

A beautiful trail which provides ample spots to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of the lake.

I had never seen a trail this busy till I did this one. There were too many people unto the lower falls. Later the crowd started thinning out as we header for the upper falls. Had to wait in a line to get closer to get a view of the falls.

An easy trail. But it rained on the day we did the hike.

I went on June 14th at around noon. Bit of overcast and sprinkling rain, but the water was still unbelievably blue. Went on this short hike with my 5 month old, 11, 7 and 5 year olds. Not very busy till after 2pm.

We did the praiprie view trail till the summit then retuned, we did not do the full circle but we enjoyed it so much!

The trail is really nice however it is so busy with people it was almost like waking through New York City. People in the way all the way up. If you don’t like the crowds get there super early.

very easy and so beautiful!!!!! I'll go there often for short walk. Nice trail to do in rainy day.

Pretty water and falls, but crowded

Short, easy hike that was perfect for young families. Trail was busy - it was a Saturday! The falls were lovely & the kids had a blast looking for trolls, playing in the water (supervised only) & a few of us adults went up to the falls above (which was a little more difficult climb).

Great hike for young families to the first fall. The trail does continue beyond it to the left for the more adventurous. Lots of sights and chances to explore there.

Impressive flow and spray of water from a cliff. Easy hike. We visited on a cloudy, rainy day; it is probably more stunning in the afternoon sunlight. Watch for tour buses and RVs on the switchbacks--we saw one backing up the road because they can't make the tight turns.

Fantastic easy hike, great trail and pretty waterfall. A bit busy, lots of young families but everyone was friendly. Even saw a lady in an electric scooter for part of it. Lots of places to climb and explore beyond the first waterfall- keep going up on the left side to find two more waterfalls.

Good hike! Not super marked though! Beautiful day!!!

Easy hike up to the first waterfall. If you keep going, it’s super difficult and more of a scramble. However the hard work pays off and there is gorgeous waterfalls the further you go. Had to end it early as I got to the trail late. Definitely going to spend a whole day there next time I go and see how far the trail goes!

Although the scenery was pretty, it was so busy, it was hard to enjoy. I spent 15 minutes with my dog to take some pictures. If I had a family, it would be a perfect outing as the loop is short and lots of places along the river to have lunch.

on Barrier Lake Trail

Beautiful lake. Did 2 hr round trip with spouse and 2 kids aged 3 (carried) and 7. Got 3 km in and 3 km back. From about 1-2.5 km it’s a bit boring, gravel path with no cover. After about 2.5 km the trail narrows to single file and changes from gravel to dirt in a forested area - this part was a bit more interesting. Steep at parts but our 7 year old had no problems with terrain.
