Great for the sunset! Easy to find. Finished in 50 minutes up and 30 minutes down. Steep at times but it’s all in staircase formation.

Beautiful waterfall. Go early to beat crowds and heat. Wash off in the water on your way back down.

Very muddy and slippery. Would be ok with regular sneakers but you might slip and get your clothes dirty. It is steep but it is a short hike so it’s not too challenging. Definitely something to do if you’re in this area

Smooth hike that is not as difficult as some reviews say on certain websites. You just need ok shoes, water, a camera and you're set! The view is absolutely beautiful! Was not crowded in early morning and got to enjoy it all by myself, almost.

This hike includes about 300 stone steps featuring a beautiful temple at the top with a viewing area to look out over the city. I went to see the sun set over Luang Prabang in November 2018 and I wouldn’t describe it as relaxing due to the large crowds that this site attracts at dusk. However, getting there a bit earlier than the sunset groups gave me the opportunity to walk around the balcony with very few people around and look out over the city. I imagine this hike is quite peaceful at sunrise (when the views would also be absolutely breathtaking). Please keep in mind that if you are planning on entering the temples it is always thoughtful to be respectful of Lao culture and wear appropriate clothing. It was disheartening to see people being noisy and disrespectful while monks and other visitors were there for spiritual/reflective purposes. Overall, a wonderful experience for those who want to experience Luang Prabang from an entirely different perspective.

The Kuang Si Falls are among the most beautiful natural phenomena I have ever seem... the luminous shade of the water is absolutely breathtaking due to the mineral content. During the dry season Ban Thapene is swarming with tourists in the afternoon but the early hours are quieter. I was volunteering nearby and would run up each morning to swim and visit the bear sanctuary that is located at the base of the trail. The bears are much more active during that time and you will have more space to yourself to swim and reflect on the beauty. The cost to enter the falls was 20,000 kip (about ~$3) as of December 2018. There are multiple “tiers” of the falls- I stayed on the left side of the bridges and followed the trail that eventually leads to steps with water from the falls running over them (went barefoot for that part!) My friend crossed the main large bridge by the restaurant and took a path that he said was very muddy and much less developed if you’re feeling adventurous. This place is like none other.

Quick and easy hike to the top of the biggest hill in Luang Prabang; rough increase of 100m and is mostly stone stairs the whole way. 20.000 kip to enter as there is a temple at the bottom and top. It is a beautiful view of the city, especially near sunrise/sunset.
