Mt Oyama is a great starter mountain for hikers in Japan. You’ll definitely break a sweat but still not fear for your life. The first section we took the otoko (man) route up to the midway shrine. Near there, there is a shop that has delicious pumpkin flavoured dango and tofu ice cream. From the shrine it’s about 90 minutes to the top. There is some bouldering, but not a big challenge. At the top, we saw some some deer close up. There were many people at the summit and a nice view of Tokyo bay and Oshima island. Overall, a great day hike.

A steady uphill hike through beautiful scenery, I highly recommend this. It is easy to reach from the train station by bus, and very well signposted.

Great Hike was still able to get a few miles in, all of the loop parts are closed.

Walking on a flat, paved road, makes this VERY easy, but it is lovely, and accessible to nearly everyone. Follow the river to the falls, past shrines, and mountain houses, alongside shady trees and boulders. Ice cream and cold drinks available at the falls.

Loved this hike. The Rock Garden scramble was fun, the view from the top was amazing, and the hike down to Arima Onsen was an interesting aside. A variety of ups downs and flats, as well as different terrain, and the purple flowering trees were amazing. It helps to have a photo of the Japanese characters for 'Mt. Rokko' and 'Arima Onsen' to help with navigation. (No English signs at all.)

Parking was closed but found a patch of the road to stop at, close to toilet. Nice hike, can be done either steep incline then slow and rolling descent (our route) or in reverse. Two turns could be a bit confusing, just follow the gps. A bit slippery if wet but not too difficult, even with a 7 month old in baby carrier

I loved my hike on Mt.Fuji. Took me about 6 hours to get to the top. Once I made it to the top, the sight of looking at the down at the clouds was amazing. I also took a 30 minute nap once I reached the top lol

A walk that can be done by all levels. Sennin Pond is a great scenic spot in both spring and autumn. If you get a nice day the reflections can be amazing. You can start from the car park of Green House and then you can retrace your steps on your way back.

A great trail (specially in spring) for people of all levels. The course is easy and relatively flat making it a great family friendly walk. There are several great spots along the walk, including the small shrine, tall trees and a natural drinking water fountain. At the half point you will hit Yumemidaira which is a stunning marshland area with Mt Mitahara in the background.

This an amazing 2 day hike that takes you over Mt Myoko and then up to Mt Hiuchi. You can choose to stop at either Kurosawa Hut or Koya Pond hut. If you have a good pace i would continue to the famous Koya Pond hut. Be sure to book in advance for this hut. Both mountains offer very different scenery and climbing experiences which makes this a great 2 day hike.

Mix of roots, rocks, and thin path at points can make footing difficult. Very lightly trafficked. Beautiful forests close to Miyagase lake.

This was a great trail for beginners with a good view. There are more trails than the ones shown on this app. I would not recommend any of the trails for children less than seven years old.

Mt. Ishikawa is an easy to moderate trail that offers a challenging and safe ascent and decent throughout the "A" trail. The "B" trail is slightly more challenging. The "C" trail is a moderately difficult for those looking for a challenge. The path leading to the top of the mountain after the ascent is covered in young bamboo making anyone over 5'5 have to consistently move the limbs from their eyesight which gets a little annoying after about 200m. If it has rained in the past 48 hours, I do not recommend newer trekkers to do this hike because this whole mount is practically clay mud and EXTREMELY slippery when wet.

We enjoyed this trail. It was a pretty easy climb that our 5 year old had no issues with. Nice view from the top. We didn’t venture too far only going from the parking lot to the peak with a play break at the castle.

Hiked the B course of the Ishikawa Dake loops. Good hike with great weather. The trail was a little muddy from the rain on the previous day.

Great trails! We took trail 6 up and a few assorted down. Very good photo opportunities with temples and other sights along the way. Good views from the top. There were quite a bit of impressive cedar trees scattered about as well. Most importantly, dogs are allowed and they have us no trouble bringing four pups! Small restaurants and stands at the top and bottom.

Excellent trail. Trail A is great for kids and an good challenge for 5 year olds with a lot of energy. Not a challenge for experienced hikers. Try trail C. Each trail separates and extends at the peak. My little ones had a blast on the adventure trail. (Great place to plan a hike with lunch after or breakfast then a hike).

I only tried Odake. There isn't much information about this trail on the internet, but it was really fun. If you are staying at lake Saiko, this is a good trail to attempt. It can be tiring climbing to the top, but it's worth it as you will get a really good view of Mount Fuji.
