We love this trail. We’ve done it multiple times. I would rate it easy because it’s a clear and short hike. There are lots of steps though. The view is worth the incline. Dog/kid friendly.

Lots of steps but it was the perfect amount of challenge. Brought my dog and she loved it but definitely bring water! I also recommend a stick to brush away the spiders and webs. There are multiple trails but they are all connected. Lots of maps so you can’t get lost. Wonderful views!

Did this hike twice during the winter. Very challenging when wet, because you need to use all fours for the majority of the hike. When dry, still going to be very hard on your feet due to the sharp rocks. Do not bring kids or pets, and this hike should be classified as “hard,” not moderate.

The shortest trail I think I have ever done, it kicked butt! Took 6 friends and we all really enjoyed it. Lots of places to explore. LOTS of spiders! Awesome for such a short distance, lots of bang for the walking distance and no boring stretches.

Watch your step!! It’s a good trail. The route is covered by rocks that can be challenging/ dangerous to do with smaller children, especially after it’s rained. I took my 5 month old in a carrier and wouldn’t recommend others to do it but it can be done.

In the beginning, I though it would be to easy. The trail is endless and I will have to come bag where I stopped to see how far it really goes.

Good trail for families and dogs. Would not suggest if you’re looking for a good work out. It is an easy walk through the forest. Will visit again.

The Mt. Tanodake trailhead is near the Fukugawa Falls trail, but it is a separate unmarked trailhead about 100m down the paved road from theFukugawa Falls trailhead. Parking is limited to the roadside. From the pavement you should start climbing immediately. If the trail descends from the pavement then you're on the waterfall trail, not the mountain trail. This is a lightly trafficked, improved trail, that appears to be at least occasionally maintained. I would rate it as moderate difficulty only because of the elevation gain. The majority of the trail is well shaded and there are several nice viewpoints along the way. There are several branch trails that are marked with signs but are unmaintained and blocked off. At the top of the mountain the trail ends at the former location of theTanew Wellness Resort. I'm guessing this trail network was somehow associated with the resort. Only one abandoned building from the resort remains. From the top you'll have 360 degree views. Enjoy!

super cool trail. it's short but took us about 30 mins. full of climbs up and down rocks through caves. we parked at the castle ruins and then walked through the education center, down the stairs, took a right down a driveway passed a camping area and then followed the red arrow to the trail.

Absolutely loved this trail. 100% worth your time. Definitely do not start at the initial starting point—instead make it a 5-mile and it will be beautiful the entire way. This is a hiker’s dream trail!!

Not my definition of easy, especially with all the mud!
