Really nice trail with challenging climbing passages at top. We took the trail on the east side to get down. It was also very challenging with some climbing. In winter it's really cold and there's some snow, so don't forget your gloves.

The trail was well marked with signs and reflective tape which helped keep us on track in the dark. The road to the parking lot is a little tricky. You need to drive around the Torii then up the road to the trailhead parking lot.

The path on this hike was very well maintained, unlike Mount Tsurumi (the mountain next door to Mount Yufu). The hike is fairly simple and only gets really difficult once you have the chance to climb rocks to get to the summit. There are chains attached to the rocks which you have to hold and climb up. If you are used to hikes and enjoy rock climbing, this should be very enjoyable. However, if you are scared of heights or are inexperienced in outdoor rock climbing, this may be difficult for you as there are no safety harnesses or helmets available. Overall the hike is lovely and the view at the top is worth the blood, sweat, and tears (not that there will be any).
