Surrounded by Japans' Northern Alps, Chubusangaku National Park features stunning summits, lush beech forests, and crystalline waterfalls. In the northern section of the park lies the mountain ranges of Ushiro-Tateyama and Tateyama and in the south, Mount Norikura. This park consists of 10 peaks taller than 3,000 meters, note that there are only 21 of these mountains in Japan! Make sure to check out the Azusa River at the Kamikochi Area, rumors have it that visitors may be able to see Kappa, small and mythical water spirits in the river! Another popular attraction is Goshikigahara Forest or "the forest of five colors," which is a treasure trove for flora and fauna! Check out the surrounding waterfalls within the forest for serene and gorgeous views. Amid the mountains nestle a variety of Ryokan inns and hot springs for the weary traveler to rest and relax.
