Omoto Park (大元公園), a scenic place for cherry blossoms, located behind of Miyajima Aquarium, a peaceful park with Omoto Shrine at the entrance. Hundreds of years old fir trees grow along the coastline, and it is a precious place in the world where you can enjoy the aroma of the tide and the trees mix. "Ushiishi" (牛石) near the entrance of this park is one of Miyajima's famous stones. It is said to have been given this name due to its shape resembles a cow (牛 is cow and 石 means stone). In spring, gorgeous cherry blossoms cover this place, which made the park famous in Miyajima. Because of its beauty, it is selected as one of the eight scenic spots on Itsukushima. (There are eight scenic spots in Itsukushima which are designated by a monk Jyoshin (恕信) about 300 years ago.)Show more

Set the base of Mount Mikuradake (三倉岳), which is also called "Sanbonyari" (three spears) because of three sharp peaks, Asahidake, Nakadake, and Yuhidake. The splendid views from the peaks always amaze climbers. It has been known as a rock climbing spot in recent years. The prefectural natural park offers visitors mountain trails, campgrounds, parking, and so on.Show more
