This trail is tough. We hiked in early November while it was cold, muddy, rocky, and cloudy. Truly a majestic hike however. About 3km in we were above the clouds and stayed in them even upon reaching the summit. Boots and cold weather gear are a must as the temperature can drop 20-30° F during the ascent.

I have completed this hike 4 or 5 times. It is an amazing hike. Remember it is a mountain hike and you must be prepared for a hike and not a light stroll. You will likely encounter some muddy spots, loose rocks, thick clouds and high winds however it is an amazing hike that you not regret. Dress appropriately, wear hiking boots and enjoy. Beautiful views and since it is a loop, you will never see the same sights twice.

This is a nice hike. Beautiful in the fall with the leaves changing colors.

Beautiful area that’s super easy

Fantastic views, and a really diverse landscape over the course of the trail! There was wetlands (but it didn't feel humid or have a bug nuisance), there was mountains covered in short bushes, mossy areas that are similar to the Scottish highlands, and a bunch of cool volcanic striation! a little light on shade, so bring sunscreen. there was a very short section (1/4 mile?) that was overgrown a bit, the rest is extremely well travelled, and had a fair amount of hikers. I hiked in September, was a good time of year weather wise

Great hike for family. Stairs involved- dog friendly! Park at the Onsen parking lot!

lower part of loop below mountains was miles of bog (October). During leaf change there are some great views: but its so damn muddy!

Amazing view at the top of Mt. Eboshi!! It is a tough incline most of the way up, but it’s definitely worth it. Recommend wearing hiking boots with ankle support.

Great for everyone! Very scenic. Good with small children, novice, and even none active people. Parking lot is small but free. Good to go on a week day. Not actually “Hiking” but definitely a great time outdoors. No special gear required, just active ware.

stayed straight and climbed about 3 miles. awesome ride back down. if you go right across the stream instead it's a ridiculously steep overgrown hike. almost impossible with a bike with you. bamboo growing out toward you. turned around before we reached the peak. not a fan for biking

Great place for the family. Camping, swimming and plenty of sites to see!

I love this place!

Beautiful ponds and plant life along this trail. Great for families.

Beautiful views at the top and a great walk on the way.

I love this hike! Nothing like walking on the rim of a volcanic crater. Takes between 5.5 & 6.5 hours.

Start at the restroom and walk up the road a short distance and the trail is on your left. Quick 20 minute hike to the peak. Beautiful at the top.
