Easy trail, rocky and muddy in some places but overall a great hike with awesome views. Travelled from Bolzano to Compatsch. Suggest taking the 170 bus from Bolzano to Siusi and then hopping on the cable car to Compatsch, rather than riding all the way to the starting point t via bus. Cable car was €18 round trip worth it.

Lots of trees, route through a forest the whole way. Great food at Refugio Maranza halfway round. Nice gentle incline if you go anti-clockwise from Cimirlo, except the switchbacks at the very very end. Good tracks the whole way round. But bit boring from being in the woods, the ridge would be better.

Amazing trail! Gorgeous views! Pretty easy track. Can be done with kids and dogs. There is a parking and many restaurants on the start/end.

A long walk in the woods with some nice views. Very heavily trafficked between Lake Calaita and Malga Crel. The restaurant at Malga Crel was also packed with hikers, but service was reasonably fast and prices were good. Be careful not to miss the path from Chalet Doch like we (and also a biker) did :-) That led to some off-trail adventures!

The distance from the top of the cable car to the rifugio and back was closer to 5 miles. We had pouring rain/hail for most of our 3hrs trip, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the ever changing views into the valley.

Great hike and beautiful views. Snow gets about 3ft deep at one point snowshoes recommended but not needed. Made it to summit without any. Cold and windy at top compared to bottom. 2.5 hours.

Monday 7-30-2018: Four of us hiked Bindelweg (Viel dal Pan). We hiked from Passo Pordoi and ended at Rifugio Luigi Gorza. The distance was 4.5 miles with 1370 ft elevation gain. From there we took Cable Car down to Arabba. This is a popular easy hike with great views, Piz Boë on one side, Marmolada on the other. Marmolada is the highest mountain of the Dolomites with 3,343 m above sea level.

This is a very easy hike through the largest, high alpine meadow in all of Europe. The Alpe di Siusi (Italian) or Seiser Alm (German), has many trails to walk on. Situated in northern Italy’s South Tyrol area, it has views that are incredible. And everything in this area is still signed in both Italian and German. It is a very popular skiing destination in the winter also. We made our way from the town we stayed in to Castelrotto, and then just beyond to Siusi, where we took the gondola up to Compatsch. Once off the gondola, you can walk pretty much anywhere. We were going to originally try for the top of Sciliar, but that didn’t pan out this time. So we did this simple loop to get a feel for the meadow. So many options to choose from, I would love to come back here some day and do more of the trails. If ever in this part of Northern Italy, I highly recommend this as a nice easy day spent with endless views.

This is a super easy hike and has unreal views. It involved 3 modes of transportation for us that day. We walked down the street from our hotel to the gondola station. We took that to the top, which involved getting off the first one and on another. Then we walked the Via del Pan trail all the way to Lake Fedaia. Then it was a bus ride back to town. What an awesome day and the views of the Dolomites of Northern Italy from here are amazing. The Marmolada glacier is right across the valley the whole way. Many different mountain groups can be seen along this trail too. All part of the Dolomite section of the Italian Alps. When we arrived at the lake, we walked across the street and had a couple cold ones while we waited for the bus. This was our first hike in Northern Italy, and it was great. Hope to return some day and explore other areas.

Very nice and simple hike / walk. I took the cable car to the top from Arabba. The trail starts just off to the left and traverses the side of the mountain to the west where the Viel dal Pan Rifugio is located. It was a nice sunny clear day great view of Marmalade Mountain.
