The Etna Park is on the Italian island of Sicily and features one of the most active volcanoes, Mount Etna. It is uniquely beautiful due to its lava flows and surrounding landscape. Here, one can see the golden eagle and other wildlife. Mount Etna itself has a rich history and is the center of much folklore. The ancient Greeks believed it was home to the Cyclops. It was also featured in Homer's "Odyssey". Today, it is fun to visit in person - to marvel at it enormity and to see a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you are planning to visit the mountain, here are some tips: -The most common trip begins from Rifugio Sapienza, on the south side of the mountain. -You can reach the summit by foot or cable car -Cable cars run all day - the price includes a bus ride from the cable car station to the main crater -The total walk from Rifugio Sapienza around the crater takes approximately 4 hours -Because it is a very active volcano, check weather and conditions prior to planning your trip!Show more
