This is a multi-day bike route crossing through the Western Alps through France and the last kilometers in Italy. It starts in Geneva, on the shores of Lake Leman and ends at Ventimiglia, on the shores of the Mediterranean. This route is described in the guide: “La traversée des Alpes à VTT: Du Léman à la Méditerranée” by Patrick Bernard. Mountain biking in the Alps is one of the best ways to explore as you go through rough terrain to narrow steep paths, the beauty that the land offers is breathtaking in this once in a lifetime journey. The Chambeyron mountain range is one of the major attractions of the Southern Cozie Alps. This loop runs east to the highest peak in the Màira Valley, the Brec de Chambeyron and is so named "Dino Icardi" after a famous mountaineer of the valley. The trail winds through mountains that often exceed 3000m in altitude. The path is marked with yellow-blue rectangular signs and follows old paths that connect the Vallonasso of Stroppia and the Infernetto, two valleys in the area that are still intact and preserved well. Be familiar with safe hiking principles in this alpine environment: good knowledge of the mountain, adequate equipment, and appropriate training for the hike. The best season to hike this loop is roughly between July and September. The tour, which is largely feasible in one day, can also be extended beyond a day by using two refuges located along its route. The path starts from the Stroppia Plain at an altitude of 1686m (about 1.5 km upstream from Chiappera), along the waterway coming from the Stroppia waterfall. This waterfall reaches its peak in the late spring months. There is a water crossing on the Soubeyran Bridge and just beyond the bridge, a sign indicates the origin of the path.Show more
