My advice is to start the loop from trail 344 and return to the starting point following trail 343. The path 344 is rocky and quite challenging to climb, but during the climb you can stop in little spot to admire the landscape, but it would be more difficult to go downhill. Path 343 passes through a beautiful wood but the soil is wet and slippery ad it's hard to climb if you're not an expert. It's easier to go downhill even if you have to be very careful

wonderful hike with amazing views. the road up to the starting point are narrow and not well maintained but it is ok. we did not go all the way to the top but stopped at the church built in the mountain side. so cool! the second best part of the hike was the little restaurant at the trail head. such a great place to relax after the hike.

Very beautiful architecture! Very busy but worth seeing

Beautiful small valley garden; some ruins, a gorgeous cascata grotto at the bottom of the trail. Plenty of shade and benches to rest and take in the sights and sounds. Clean restroom stops along the way. Trails are well maintained; two or three were closed for maintenance. Map was provided upon entry. Family entry (2 adults and our 3 bambini) was 19 euro. At end of trail, a small gift shop/cafe, and bathrooms. The two small temples at the end were nice. Easy hike, good footwear (athletic shoes) recommended. Strollers not allowed.

This was a nice easy trail with gorgeous views of Tívoli and the surrounding areas. The trailhead is just across the street from Villa Gregoriana so it’s accessible without transportation. It goes through a cork forest, which I had never seen before. There’s also a cool cave as you near the end, which is a little hard to notice. We started the trail in full sun without a cloud in the sky and noticed black clouds rolling in during our lunch stop. And we unfortunately got caught in a surprise thunderstorm. There was enough tree cover to ride it out for 45 minutes or so. No problems with bugs when we went.

Didn't make it too far as the conditions were not good. But it did make me curious and I do want to finish it some time. It's too bad that the path is disappearing due to not being used.

After a little while the trail becomes fully overgrown. No path visible between the vegetation and millions of bees, dragonflies and other buzzing insects. We were not able to complete the trail or get to the waterfalls. We were here in mid June

Extremely crowded day and night . Best probably in the early AM. Good walking distance to everything else

Often on the shady part of the mountain it opens to wonderful roman valley dominating view til Tirreno see in clear days. The tip of Montegennaro is home of eagles and falcons. Dry Rocky path when exposed to est, few restoring place if raining suggest to turn back to starting point rather than continuing to the end, slippery ground.

Hometrail, the path opens on breathtaking view over roman ruins of Vesta's temple and the massive waterfall combined with the visit of parco Villa Gregoriana the jewell of the hiking. I finished the tray several times with kids, and untrained people. Signals of the path are always well visible. There is a rare cork trees woodspot and farm with horses and few cows sometimes free walking around.

One of best scenery ever

Very beautiful excursion with fascinating panoramic views. Attention when you go down, the indications are not obvious and you could get lost. When you arrive at the second cross follow the fence with the barbed wire and take you back to the parking lot!

Great Hike, well marked, but the aggressive dogs guarding the herd of goats near the end of the trail was an unwanted encounter for sure .

This is a good well marked loop. Parking near the trail head may be challenging but there is a parking lot in town center. In the summer it’s very dry up there. There are some nice views of Tivoli and the Roman valley. You’ll want mosquito repellant for sure. There are some picnic areas on the mountain and you pass through a horse area with a trough with running water. I’m not sure if it’s potable though. I’d say 70 percent of the trail was in the forest shade. The description says it’s kid friendly but they may have some trouble on the really rocky parts.

What an amazing hike! Incredible views and great sights to see along the trail. Madonna della rupe, the church of San Michele (Michael the archangel), and the statue of Christ at the top- all make this a beautiful trail and an awesome way to see the mountains in this area. There is a maintained rocky trail but it does include some loose terrain and some steeper areas. I wouldn’t call this a kid friendly trail but anyone in decent shape should have no problem. I highly recommend this trail, it was an awesome experience.

Rome is amazing. It's fountains so beautiful. Great for night time too.
