Best trails in Borgo Val di Taro, Emilia-Romagna

This route starts from the Chalet del Molinatico. On the left, follow path 829 to Lake Martino and then reach the ridge and path 00AV. Following the 00 on the right you arrive at Mount Pelata and then the Grotta Mora, a suggestive place among the beech trees. Continue along the ridge and leave trail 00 which leads to the Cisa pass to follow the 837 towards the junction with 835d which descends to Corchia. Here you will find the Termine del Gatto a few meters from the crossroads. The Termine del Gatto is a symbol of the border between Berceto in Emilia Romagna and Pontremoli in Tuscany. This rock is in a good state of conservation and is located on the mountain once known as the Pizzone located at an altitude of about 1300 meters at the Grotta Mora a short distance from the ridge of Monte Molinatico. For the return, follow the path 837 which leads back to the starting point with a short detour with the path 839a which arrives at Lake dell'Orma. Finally we return to the chalet by the road. This excursion begins at the Church of Gorro in the municipality of Borgo val di Taro. From the church go up to Groppo di Gorro. Descend with a short detour to the water lily pond, a spectacle during flowering. Leaving the lake and taking path 830A again, you reach the crossroads of the Rola and then turn right to reach Belforte. We recommend a visit to the village up to the castle. The excursion ends with the fast return via Gorro. This route follows the CAI trails 830 - 830a - 833b - 833.Show more

This route starts from the Chalet del Molinatico where an evident path starts on the left with CAI signs n 839. In the tall beech forest you reach Lake Martino, famous for being a place for observing the Alpine Triton. The path always continues in the beech forest up to the ridge where you meet the 00AV path. In a few minutes, proceeding on the left, you reach the top with the summit cross at the highest point of 1550m. Begin the descent towards the west still following the 00AV and at the intersection with the 839c you quickly descend to Prato del Cucu from where the loop closes on a gravel road. Polenta and mushrooms at the end of the chalet will be a worthy refreshment. This route follows the CAI trails 839-00AV-839c.Show more

From the town center of Borgotaro, following the cycle path, you reach the junction for the small oratory of Caravaggio. The road becomes a path and becomes the Via degli Abbati (Pontremoli-Pavia). Continue to climb towards San Pietro with a brief stop in San Cristoforo: one of the oldest churches in the valley from the Romanesque era overlooking the Val Vona. The road continues to climb and soon reaches the beech trees and Pradonico. Leave the Via degli Abbati and turn off for the ascent to Lake Buono, an area rich in biodiversity. From the lake on the left the path descends towards Pian del Monte. The chestnut wood of the Piano which remains on the left after a kilometer of dirt road deserves a view. From Pian del Monte you can go back along the same road, or by asphalted road you can reach Ostia Parmense passing through Tiedoli. This tour can be long for those who do not have good training and follow the CAI paths 843 AV and 843b.Show more
