Good break from Napoli if you are nearby. Once it was well kept, nowadays just a path to top of volcano and around crater. Beautiful views to bay from top. Good parking.

good parking. From the crater rim, you can walk down the West side trail to Lago Averno and combine the two walks. Active Fumaroles on the south flank of Monte Nuovo on the trail. not on the main trail

Honestly this was so easy! We saw all ages and body types making their was up to see the crater. Unfortunately we went on a day that was very foggy so we couldn’t see inside but it was super cool to be so close to such a historic site!! Worth the 10 euros!!

there is a bus (costs about eu3) from the train station at Pompeii or Orcelano that takes you to the trail ticket office. cost for trail is eu10. trail is about 300 m up the road from ticket office and you need to have those tickets to start the trail. Don't take a taxi. and don't take a taxi going down either. these stop a bit further down at parking lot and don't always go all the way back to a train station. tickets for bus are bought on board. schedule for bus going back is not frequent and remains a mystery.

Vraiment chouette. Très court. Compter 1h 30 entre Bomerano et Nocelle. Après environ 800 m, on peut pendre un chemin par en haut ou par en bas, qui se rejoignent quelques km plus loin.

A breathtaking walk with panoramic views each corner you turn. The first 50 minutes felt like a tough step class at the gym but then got easier. It’s a must!

Beautiful hike but not 3.5 miles, my Garmin logged it 5.25. Water at the top of the Praiano section near the homes is nice. Of course steps and more steps but the views are worth it!! Busy in sections but not too bad

Almost 5 miles if you take variant that starts in the west side of Praiano. See my recording.

ottima applicazione!

Really should update the hike. It is only accessible by paying like 17€ for one hour hike... And you will do only a part of the loop. You can try to access the close part. But people will not be very kind then ^^
Great view though.

Did this a few years ago! So worth it. Late September and early October are the best times to visit Capri. We took a day trip here from Sorrento on a ferry, which was fantastic. Walking Capri is like walking in a dream. The beautiful views will leave you speechless as you walk up the city and charming, very tiny, streets. Bella!

Beautiful view of Naples and the volcano.

This is a fun walk but make sure you do it like my wife and I: 1. Don’t plan the trip, just get up and go from Napoli. 2. Take a taxi but don’t bring enough money because you have to pay double when you leave Napoli in a taxi... so 3. Spot a trail head and get out half way up the road to where most others hike from. 4. Find the trails are all closed on the way up due to last summer’s fire. 5. Proceed to walk all the way up the road and use €20 of our last €25 for tickets to access the crater. 6. Hike up to the crater and talk about how cold it is and what a long walk back to town you have with no money. 7. Spend our last €5 on limoncello shots. 8. Talk a taxi into leaving his customers to drive you down quickly before coming back to get them.

It was a shame that all of the trails through the nature reserve leading up/down the mountain were locked up. Also, the access to do the full crater loop was closed off so that was a bummer.

All things considered, we had a great day together and great memories to kick off our honeymoon! If in the area, it is definitely worth going.

Not possible to enter during Feb (maybe due to heavy rain past days)

Gave it four stars for the it's a volcano factor. Awesome views and some some steam from the crater made this is a great outing. Not a rustic hike by any means and expect lots of people.

2017SEP16 Started out overcast day, but quickly cleared to be a beautiful fay! Epic scenery! Great moderate hike!

This is a remarkable hike if you love to touch and to be a part of history. This volcano buried several cities… It is CRAZY to think about! The views were incredible and the steam rising from the ground lets you know that this girl may wake up again.

If you wish to judge this simply from the hike alone, like you would any other park or trail, then it is just OK. It is not very challenging and it is fairly short.

Go to the city of Pompeii and their Herculaneum prior to doing this hike so you can do the hike with absolute respect of where you’re at.

No water but still enjoyable!

Treat yourself to an overnight stay (or two) in Capri, like I did. My mid-October visit helped reduce crowds, but seeing the island after most tourists leave gives you a more intimate experience with this gem. Capri is riddled with paths to every corner -- explore them! -- you'll find yourself strolling through narrow alleyways of gorgeous gated homes, winding through quiet forests, and landing at the crashing sea with its intricate rock formations. Plus, the paths are dotted with tiny bistros for an unforgettable espresso, wine, or meal break (I had the best clam linguini of my life along this trek!). This path is more walk than hike, but its length and inclines still provide a good workout. Go, enjoy the more remote Capri, away from the typical tourist hangouts!

Definitely worth doing. Very interesting. Gets dusty so don't wear your nicest shoes. Very hot in the summer. Excellent to combine with a visit to the history museum in Naples to view artifacts found in Pompeii. Very good and popular hike.

Short trail. Nice views of Pozzuoli.

Take the train to Pompeii when you exit the train, buy a ticket for the bus to the off-road bus to take you to the the trail head. the bus picks up in-front of the train station. bus ride is about 10 minute first bus then another 10 -15min on the off road bus. Hike is pretty easy but has a steady grade. There are good views of the gulf of Naples along the way up and at the top. But you don't have to go all the way up.
