Hard work but with amazing views. My nephew who is 11 managed to do it so i would rate it 6/10 on how hard it can be. You have some steep rough climbs , easily done if hiking, bit more challenging if on a MTB. it can be easily done with an electric mtb that you can rent at the town of Champorcher at the start of the road and you can charge at the rifugio Dondena and also at the rifugio Miserin at the top near the lake. (but thats not true MTB!) # In both rifugio you will find very friendly ppl serving good local food, ales, cakes and hot beverages. # Both places offer overnight stay, dinner lunch or bkfast. # They all take card payments. # Internet phone coverage over the trail is pretty good beside few dark spots.

At first, just roads, but then bridges and small waterfalls and about 4K in it gets magical. Pretty flat along the course of the river. Followed the gran Paradiso park trail route. The all trails route is closed and has private property signs.

Full day hike from the parking lot in Estoul (parking lot to Rifugio Arp was ~1.5hours). Trail was in good condition in late October with some snow cover. Great views of the many surrounding peaks and lakes.

Hiking

Not what I would call easy. More like a moderate trail given the altitude gains and rocky footing. We had to go extra carefully downhill as I was nursing a knee injury but you would need to walk carefully regardless. This would be a good hit day trail as it’s mostly in the woods. We went beyond the first of three falls ( the AllTrails map only gets you to the first) to the viewpoint for the second and then backtracked because the second half of the loop looked muddy, narrower, and maybe less maintained. There were quite a few people in the trail on a Thursday.

לא ממש עשינו את המסלול אבל הלכנו באגמים ופשוט מדהים שם רק שווה לבדוק מזג אוויר לפני כי אם יש שם ערפל זה פשוט הורס את כל הנוף

Mainly on a pavimented road (poor maintained). Not as scenic as expected, there are trees planted by the track. There are another nicer trails in Champorcher.

Beautiful trail , not so much height difference but very long. The lake is wonderful full of funny frogs and the descent in the bardoney valley following the stream with waterfalls and views of the glacier. We also met chamois and marmots.

TMB - Day 6 From Rifugio Bonatti, Italy to La Fouly, Switzerland Views of the Val Veny are our backdrop en route to Grand Col Ferret. We experienced hiking at its finest with alpine meadows, rushing streams and stunning views of the Val Veny as a backdrop en route to the Grand Col Ferret (8320'), the border between Italy and Switzerland. Mont Dolent towers above and its summit is the meeting point of the borders with France, Italy, and Switzerland. You'll continue to be amazed by fabulous close-up views of rocky spires and sparkling glaciers. Our grassy path ultimately leads us to our evening's auberge in the quiet but scenic village of La Fouly (5280'). We awoke to an incredible sunrise view of Mont Blanc from Refugio Bonatti before starting our hike further up the Italian Ferret Valley on the balcony trail to a stop for some thick delicious Italian hot chocolate and cappuccinos and then we proceeded on our long hike up to the pass and border between Italy and Switzerland (Grand Col Ferret) and views of Mont Dolent - which sits on the border of Italy, France and Switzerland. Many waterfalls and stream crossings. The Swiss side of Mont Blanc is much less dramatic than the Italian side and greener with more pasture land. Hiked down to a stop for a cold beer at La Peule in the Swiss Ferret Valley and on to La Fouly for the night. Hiking: 10.5 miles. Elevation gain: 2,746', Elevation loss: 4,167'. Terrain: Hillside traverse followed by steep descents and ascents on dirt trails; some short sections of exposure. We stayed at: Auberge des Glaciers La Fouly, Switzerland Tel. This was an incredible hike. It was hot during the initial ascent up to Rifugio Sella and there wasn't much shade, but the views were more than worth it. It took about three hours to get to Sella, where we refilled water and used the restrooms. We then continued across the ridge towards Herbetet, which we had completely to ourselves. Gorgeous views, narrow trails (that aren't as scary as they look in pictures), wildlife, and a light breeze. Not a trail I'd want to do when wet, however. It took another 3.5 hours to cross the ridge, and then another 2.5 hours to walk back to Valnontey along the river. Overall it was one of the best hikes I've ever done. Make sure to bring a camera!

Hiking

Phenomenal hike, with just about everything you could ask for: show-stopping views, waterfalls a-plenty, a range of different ecosystems (forests, alpine meadow, high alpine talus fields), and guaranteed ibex and marmot sitings. Be aware the middle quarter of the hike has near-constant exposure, with a few sketchy sections of trail (though ropes are affixed where it gets really dangerous), and some major stream crossings. Not a hike to be done in winter!

Perfect for family trails! The little ones will love walking from a waterfall to another! Do it from June to when the snow starts to fall. ❄️
