I thoroughly enjoyed this trail. It takes you through many different styles of Irish terrain and allows amazing views of both the vast valley's and blue ocean. There are no trail markers and no clearly defined paths at the beginning of the trail. Just line yourself up with the mountain peak and make your own way up. For the first 30 minutes or so, you're stepping around through marshes and trying not sink your boot into muck. I would definitely recommend high topped and waterproof boots if you don't have a nice set of gaiters. Don't let this messy start deter you from doing the hike. Every second is worth it. It's a short hike, but a steep incline, so be ready to take some breaks. With breathtaking views at every turn, I'm sure you'll find excuses to stop and take a look around. Cheers!

Mt. Errigal stands apart above the abundant peat bogs of Donegal. There is a small carpark at the bottom of the track. The start is through very boggy terrain beside a small steam and it is slippy, dirty progress until the firm exposed weathered rock of the ridgeline. It gets steeper at this stage but the ascent is short and the top is soon reached.

You will probably need to imagine the view as it is likely to be hidden.

The descent is easy and fast. If you haven't done quite enough then bearing left and over the bealach to the slopes of Mackoght will probably take you away from the others on the hillside and offers a different perspective.

Beautiful and interesting town walk. Best done with local guide though.
