Hiking

Lovely trail with a clear path and pleasant nature views all the way down to the lake. Hiked in March and had a lovely day for it. Would have gone further up along the lake but I wore runners that day and needed boots for the marshy ground to keep going. Spotted loads of frog spawn too. Lots to see. Would go back.

HikingScramble

Some steep sections that brought out my fear of heights but worth it for the views towards and at the top. Hiked it in the summer in a pair of runners, but would recommend boots if going off trail by the lake edge and even just for general sturdiness under foot. Have heard of cars being broken into so best keep valuables out of sight to deter.

Tough hike with a lot of stretches of difficult terrain on open mountainside. Lovely and quiet though, with some breathtaking views.

HikingMuddy

This is a pleasant trail. We had good weather for it and though it was quite windy towards the summit, it didn’t rain and we had sunny spells throughout. We started at the car park and crossed the river by the first set of stepping stones. This may be tricky to navigate if waters are running high, so care should be taken there to be safe (or you might be wet for the whole hike!) We made our way towards the summit with the lake on our right, and we came back down the other side of the lake on the way down. The descent this way is a far boggier terrain than the ascent on the other side. Boots are an essential especially if it has been raining in the days beforehand. The trail is very marshy so waterproof boots are best if possible.

Child and dog friendly with well kept gravel track. Nothing strenuous. Lovely views of the top. Visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Rocky

Hiked this one starting at Laragh and was a real stunner! As previous reviewers, noted, this is an easy hike but does have sections at an incline so you do work up a sweat Fabulous views the whole time--Wicklow Mountains on one side and the Irish sea on the other. Make sure to bring layers of clothes as it gets very windy and chilly at the summit.

Muddy

Did this today. Had rained yday and today making the trail very muddy in turn making the descent from Cloghernagh slow, though I ran from Lug down to Cloghernagh so it probably balanced out time-wise! There's not many significant views, even at the top. Enjoyed the hike but won't be rushing to return.

Hiking

great hike very tough conditions heavy cloud cover and lashings of rain, gradually cleared as we descended to beautifull scenery, would no reccomend to novices If the weather is poor as you cannot see 20ft in front and will possible need to use the compass
